Ollier's disease associated with ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and breast adenoma.

An ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor in a 15-year-old girl is reported. The patient had enchondromatosis (Ollier's disease), and a review of the literature revealed a few previous reports linking enchondromatosis with ovarian sex-cord stromal tumors. This association between these two unusual lesions indirectly supports a generalized mesodermal dysplasia in patients with enchondromatosis.

Ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (androblastoma) with retiform pattern. A clinicopathologic study.

The clinicopathologic findings in nine patients with ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor with retiform pattern are described. The patients ranged in age from 11 months to 23 years; and seven patients were 12 years of age or younger. The most frequent presenting sign was the finding of an abdominal mass. This was associated with pain in five patients. In three patients the pain was severe due to torsion, causing an acute abdominal emergency. Slight virilization was observed in one patient only. Two patients had elevated serum alphafetoprotein (AFP), which correlated well with disease activity. Th

Recurrent ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor in a child with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.

We present a female child with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) with a recurrent ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (SLCT). SLCTs are relatively rare sex cord neoplasms that can occur in PJS. The patient was an African-American female who first presented at the age of 3 years with precocious puberty, and then at the age of 17 years with abdominal pain and irregular menses. In each case, she had resection of the mass, which included oophorectomy. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in a child with PJS to have a recurrent ovarian SLCT.

Ovarian and peripheral steroid hormones in a case of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor.

The clinical course, histology, and steroid secretion of a 59-year-old postmenopausal woman with a 4-yr history of virilizing well-differentiated Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor of the right ovary are reported. Hormone secretion was examined by measuring peripheral and ovarian venous gradients and pre-and postoperative levels of some delta 4 and delta 5 steroids, estrogens, gonadotropins and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin levels. The preoperative responsiveness to ACTH, dexamethasone and hCG is also reported. The results are consistent with a Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor producing mainly testosterone and

Sertoli--Leydig cell tumor with endometroid differentiation. Case report and discussion of histogenesis.

A case of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor with endometrioid differentiations is reported. The tumor was associated with hirsutism and androgenic excess which normalized following surgical removal. On light-microscopic study, the tumor resembled a well-differentiated endometrioid tumor with luteinized stroma. With further study, the interstitial stromal cell were recognized as Leydig cells, containing scattered Reinke crystals. Tubules and solid cords reminiscent of sex cord elements were also recognized. The dilated glandular elements showed scant apical and luminal positivity with the PAS stain fol

Ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. A clinicopathological analysis of 207 cases.

The clinical and pathological features of 207 ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors from our consultation and hospital files were reviewed. The patients ranged in age from 2 to 75 (average 25) years. Seventy-five percent of them were 30 years of age or younger and less than 10% were over 50 years of age. One-third of the patients presented because of unequivocal evidence of androgen excess, and an additional 10% had a history suggesting androgen excess; most of the remaining patients complained of abdominal swelling or pain. At operation, 97.5% of the tumors were Stage I, 1.5% were Stage II, and

[Another case of Sertoli-Leydig cell ovarian tumor (arrhenoblastoma). Review of the literature].

In reporting another case of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (SLCT) treated by conservative management, the principal characteristics of these tumors are reviewed and a general review is made: SLCT (arrhenoblastomas) are rare endocrine tumors (1 p. cent of tumors of the ovary). They most frequently occur in young women, are unilateral in 98 p cent of cases, and are manifest after a long period by endocrine signs (75 p. cent of cases) whose most frequent combination is: amenorrhea-hirsutism-hoarse voice. They are classified in four histological types which have different prognoses. Their potential de

Bilateral ovarian cystic teratomas with a left Sertoli Leydig cell tumor: A case report.

RATIONALE: Ovarian mature cystic teratoma (MCT) is the most common ovarian germ cell tumor, and it is typically unilateral, although bilateral MCTs have been observed. Sertoli Leydig cell tumors (SLCTs) are rare ovarian tumors that can cause hyperandrogenemia. When patients have these 2 tumors at the same time, it is highly challenging to diagnose them. PATIENT CONCERN: A 32-year-old female patient who complained of a pelvic mass for 1 year and amenorrhea for 6 months with high testosterone and 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels was suspected of having a malignant ovarian tumor. DICER1 Syndrome in Twins With Ovarian Sertoli-Leydig Cell Tumor and Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma.

DICER1 syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant syndrome resulting in benign and malignant tumors in various organs with tumors in endocrine organs (pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, ovaries, and pancreas). Here we present a rare case of 18-year-old twin sisters with DICER1 syndrome who presented at the age of 15 years with hirsutism, deepening of the voice, and amenorrhea. They were diagnosed with a Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor of the ovary and underwent unilateral oophorectomy, with no evidence of recurrence or metastasis during follow-up. Genetic analysis showed the same germline DICER1 mutation in bo

Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor: a rare ovarian neoplasm. Case report and review of literature.

BACKGROUND: Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor is a gonadal tumor of the sex cord-stromal type. It is a rare tumor comprising 0.1 to 0.5% of all ovarian tumors. Management of these cases poses a difficult therapeutic challenge. CASE: A 13-year-old girl presented with acute urinary retention, excessive hair growth and deepening of the voice. A mass the size of a 28-week gravid uterus was arising from the pelvis. Serum testosterone level was raised to 145.2 ng/dl. Computed tomography revealed a heterogeneously hypoechoic, solid cystic mass arising from the left adnexa. Left salpingo-oophorectomy was don

A Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and pregnancy. Clinical, endocrine, radiologic, and electron microscopic findings.

An extremely rare case of a conception occurring in a 26-year-old patient with a small virilizing Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (diameter: 0.6 cm), bilateral polycystic ovaries and non-tumorous adrenal hyperandrogenism is presented. Prepregnancy findings included hirsutism, clitoromegaly, secondary amenorrhea, and elevated peripheral plasma testosterone (T; 5.7 ng/ml). Extensive basal steroid screening, dynamic function tests, conventional radiologic procedures, selective glandular vein catheterization, and laparoscopy failed to localize unequivocally the source of androgen excess, but suggested b

Rare case of ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor in an adolescent: a case report.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Androgen-producing tumors are rare in females, typically arising from the ovaries or adrenal glands. Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCTs) are uncommon sex cord-stromal ovarian tumors that cause hyperandrogenism, leading to virilization symptoms such as hirsutism, deep voice, and amenorrhea. Their rarity and similarity with other androgen-secreting conditions make diagnosis challenging. This case report describes an SLCT in a 16-year-old girl, underscoring the value of early diagnosis and fertility-sparing surgery. CASE PRESENTATION: A 16-year-old girl presented with

Sertoli leydig cell tumor of the ovary in a woman with cushing syndrome: A case report.

Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (SLCT) is a rare tumor of the ovary.Cushing's syndrome (CS), on the other hand, is a clinical picture formed by the long-term high levels of glucocorticoids in the blood for any reason and the resulting symptoms. Exceptionally in some of cases, a tumor far from the adrenal region synthesizes adrenocortical hormones. Among such ectopic neoplasms, CS Tumors of the ovary that secrete cortisol as a cause of the disease is an exceptional case. In other words, in this case, we argue that the tumor in the ovary causes Cushing's syndrome by secreting cortisol and ACTH-like pe

Ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor: a report of seven cases and a review of the literature.

The aim of this study was to investigate the clinicopathologic features, treatment and outcome of seven patients with an ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (SLCT). Five patients presented with feminization, two with accompanying virilization. One presented with amenorrhea alone. Three of the five patients showing feminization symptoms had endocrine-related diseases. Histologically, five tumors were well differentiated, the other two were poorly differentiated. The latter two patients were misdiagnosed as having an ovarian epithelial carcinoma or granulosa cell tumor from frozen sections. Immuno
