The natural history of the echinococcosis can be studded with multiple complications; the most formidable is sudden death. We studied the epidemiological, pathological, and thanatological features of 34 sudden deaths due to hydatid cyst. The mean age was 33.2 years. A male predominance was observed with a sex ratio of 1.8. Most of our victims were from rural areas (79.4%). Sudden death was preceded by prodromal symptoms in 61.7% of cases. INTRODUCTION: Aortic dissection is a life-threatening cardiovascular condition that can result in sudden death. The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiological and thanatological features of sudden deaths due to aortic dissection.

The growing field of comparative thanatology aims to shed light on how and why the understanding of death evolved. Observations across different nonhuman primate species have reported care-taking behaviour toward dead infants, but also cannibalism. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain these behaviours, ranging from responses to infantile cues to an understanding of death. To aid comparative analyses and future tests of these hypotheses, we report behaviours toward dead infants in a wild population of Guinea baboons (Papio papio) living in the Niokolo-Koba National Park, Senegal.

This paper presents the data on tanatogenesis and pathomorphological changes in the patients suffering mechanical and thermal injuries arranged according to their duration (from 1 day to 2 months). The study included 65 deceased men and 25 women at the age from 15 to 89 years. The results obtained allowed to identify the immediate causes of death from the traumas of different origin.
