There has been a long-standing debate as to whether medullary or periosteal flow is the dominant vascular supply during the healing of diaphyseal fractures. We used radioactive microspheres to quantify blood flow to the canine tibia two weeks after an osteotomy. Metaiodobenzylguanidine, which is used in the diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma, produced 50% inhibition of monoamine oxidase at a concentration of 8 X 10(-6) M in vitro. These results suggest that a careful study of the structure of a new radiodiagnostic agent should be done to anticipate and prepare for possible unwanted biological effects when administering the preparation to patients.

Complexing of reduced 99mTc, 99Tc and of 113Sn(II) by pyrophosphate was studied, using the in vivo distribution in the rat as an indicator for complex formation. 99mTc-pyrophosphate was only formed at very low technetium concentrations, otherwise colloid formation occurred. The interaction of Sn(II) with metastable, highly reactive mackinawite is a complex process due to transient changes of the mackinawite surface in the sorption process. In this work, we show that tin redox state and local structure as investigated by Sn-K X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) change with pH. BACKGROUND: Patients with early gastric cancer may be treated by minimally invasive surgery. This study investigated the value of sentinel node (SN) navigation surgery, including detection of micrometastases, in patients with clinical (c) T1 and T2 gastric cancer.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Although sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy using radioisotope (RI) and blue dye (BD) achieved a high detection rate, approximately 5% of melanomas with negative SLNs develop nodal metastasis. We tested a new lymphatic navigation method using indocyanine green fluorescence imaging (ICG-FI) to detect such "occult" SLNs.
METHODS: Thirty-four skin cancer patients received SLN biopsy with the following three methods: RI (99Tc-tin colloid), BD (2% patent blue), and ICG (0.5% indocyanine green). Lymph nodes detected by any of the three methods were counted as SLNs.

A copper-mediated method for the transformation of diverse arylboron compounds and arylstannanes to aryl-[11C]-nitriles is reported. This method is operationally simple, uses commercially available reagents, and is compatible with a wide variety of substituted aryl- and heteroaryl substrates. This method is applied to the automated synthesis of high specific activity [11C]perampanel in 10% nondecay-corrected radiochemical yield (RCY).

Gallium-68 radioisotope is an excellent source in clinical positron emission tomography application due to its ease of availability from germanium-68 (68 Ge)/gallium-68 (68 Ga) generator having a shelf life of 1 year. In this paper, a modified method for purification of the primary eluate of 68 Ge-68 Ga generator by using a small cation exchange resin (Dowex-50) column has been described. The purpose of this study is to determine whether a lymph node identified with high radioisotope (RI) activity is a sentinel node. We studied 26 patients with either esophageal or gastric cancer whose preoperative imaging studies showed no lymph node metastasis. Before surgery, Tc-99m tin colloid was injected via endoscopy into the submucosa. An autopsy case of primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the liver in a 70-year-old man is described. The case could not be clinically differentiated from hepatocellular carcinoma. The tumor showed typical features of rhabdomyosarcoma; phosphotungstic acid hematoxylin (PTAH)-positive myofibrils and cross-striations were observed in the cytoplasm of highly plemorphic tumor cells.

METHODS: The reaction conditions for the cross-coupling of [1-11C]acetyl chloride with tributylphenylstannane were optimized, and the reaction scope was investigated.
