Multicentric reticulohistiocytosis (MR) is a rare non-Langerhans histiocytosis that is characterized by cutaneous nodules and severe destructive arthritis. Although 25-30% of reported cases have been associated with internal malignancies, the pathophysiology of MR is unknown. INTRODUCTION: Our aim was to compare transabdominal ultrasonography (US) and intravenous urography (IVU) in the evaluation of patients with hematuria.

Horseshoe kidney is the most typical kidney fusion anomaly among children (0.25%) and associated with various urological and non-urological abnormalities. Wilms' tumor is the most common malignant neoplasm of kidneys and the third most common solid malignant neoplasm in pediatrics. Wilms' tumor in a horseshoe kidney is rare (0.4-0.9%). We retrospectively studied nine patients with solitary renal neoplasms that were first visible when smaller than 3 cm in diameter to determine their imaging and pathologic characteristics and clinical course. These neoplasms represented 14% of the total renal neoplasms discovered over a 6-year period, and only one-third were initially identified by screening urography. Technical advances in laboratory testing such as sensitive chemical tests and standardized commercial slides have significantly altered our entire approach to urinalysis. In addition, the recognition of the association of microhematuria with urologic neoplasms and the morphologically altered red blood cells with renal parenchymal bleeding is beginning to expand our knowledge of the pathogenesis of microhematuria. Future trends may include a broader range of chemical tests as well as a better understanding of disease processes associated with microhematuria.

We present two cases of urologic malignancies, transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder and renal cell carcinoma respectively, closely associated to progressive systemic sclerosis. The relationship between such neoplasms and immune disorders is thereof reviewed. Cancer may develop in a context of diminished immunological surveillance. Conversely, autoimmunity can also be secondary to neoplasia and somehow understood as paraneoplastic. Anyway, the cases here reported could be regarded as unusual associations that may reproduce the still unclear connections between immunity and neoplasia.

The purpose of this study was to describe the incidence and pathology of scrotal pain among military men deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. It is a retrospective review of patients seen by the urology service at a U.S. Army combat support hospital (CSH) in Iraq from March 29, 2007 to August 12, 2007.
