PURPOSE: To report a case of cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis associated with Good's syndrome.
METHODS: A 57-year-old man presented to our ophthalmology clinic with complaints of visual loss in the left eye for 2 weeks. His medical anamnesis revealed myasthenia gravis, thymoma resection, multiple chest infections, and Campylobacter septicemia. Reports of cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis mainly concern patients with immunocompromisation resulting from, among others, HIV infection, allogeneic bone marrow transplantation and solid organ transplantation. Retinitis is the commonest clinical manifestation of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in patients with AIDS. Untreated patients generally experience progressive involvement of the retina, which may result in blindness. We report about the therapy of Herpes simplex infections. We applied triapten ointment topically in 166 women with relapse illnesses. In cases with early application we cured 80 per cent of vulvitis herpetica. In 17 per cent we observed side effects we tried to clarify the reasons.
