Background: Most often, fever is still treated by lowering body temperature with medication. In complementary and integrative health care, patients are supported during illness to use the positive effects of fever. Accompanying applications from the field of hydrotherapy are often used for gentle cooling, but there are references that warming in fever can also be used as a support. The aim of this scoping review was to identify available evidence on how, when, and why patients with fever are treated with heat application. Methods: The MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, COCHRANE, Google, and Google Schol

The outcome of management of diabetic foot ulcers remains a challenge, and there remains continuing uncertainty concerning optimal approaches to management. It is for these reasons that in 2008 and 2012, the International Working Group of the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) working group on wound healing published systematic reviews of the evidence to inform protocols for routine care and to highlight areas, which should be considered for further study. The same working group has now updated this review by considering papers on the interventions to improve the healing of chronic ulcers published between

A woman with a moderately differentiated carcinoma that erupted through the skin and amputated her breast was treated with whirlpool, topical antimicrobials, radiation, and chemotherapy. The draining, necrotic, and septic wound was treated for 5 months with a whirlpool containing dilute povidone-iodine solution and intravenous chemotherapy. Wet bandages, necrotic tissue, and softened eschar were removed by whirlpool agitation or mechanically debrided. To start treatment the wound was dressed with Debrisan crystals and sterile gauze for 1 week. Afterwards, wet-to-dry dressings wetted with Dakin

BACKGROUND: While skin conditions are commonly reported in flight on the International Space Station (ISS), postflight skin complaints have generally been limited to foot sole sensitivity upon reloading after landing. In this case report, we describe the postflight skin findings in NASA's first year-long crewmember.CASE REPORT: The crewmember was a 51-yr-old astronaut who spent 340 d in space on this mission. His in-flight course was unremarkable except for medication use for congestion, likely secondary to microgravity-induced fluid shift and elevated CO₂ levels on the ISS, and an episode of
