The Modifying Effect of Individual-Level Neighborhood Perceptions on the Relationship Between Census-Level Neighborhood Social Vulnerability and Cognition in Older Latinos.

Residents of vulnerable neighborhoods show lower levels of, and faster longitudinal declines in cognition across most, but not all studies. Mixed results may exist, in part, because residents' self-reported (individual-level) perceptions of their neighborhood do not always reflect Census-level measurements. We investigated both types of neighborhood characteristics to reexamine previously reported null associations between neighborhood vulnerability and cognition within an interactive socio-environmental framework. Self-identified Latinos (N = 224; x¯age = 70.4) without dementia completed a mo

"This didn't exist back then": A focus group study on adolescents' account of mental illness perceptions in the context of family, peers, and social media.

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage in which emerging mental illnesses can lead to severe lifelong consequences. Effective prevention requires open, destigmatized dialogue with and among people in their social contexts. Prior research has largely examined these contexts in isolation, focusing either on family and peer contexts or on social media, without addressing how these contexts jointly shape adolescents' perceptions. This qualitative focus group study addresses (1) how adolescents describe the ways mental illness is perceived and responded to within their social contexts (inclu

Similarities in client-clinician perceptions of subjective social status and its association to similarities in the quality of working alliance and client anxiety symptoms.

Subjective social status (SSS) has largely been ignored within psychotherapy literature. We investigated the association between similarities in client-clinician perceptions of SSS, similarities in their report of the quality of working alliance, and resultant anxiety symptoms. Participants represented a primarily low-income, culturally diverse sample of 312 clients receiving care from 68 clinicians at 13 outpatient mental health clinics in the Northeastern United States between September 2013 and August 2016. As part of a larger randomized controlled trial, clients and clinicians completed th

Exploring the Impact of Positive Parent-Adolescent Relationships on Social Media Engagement and Body Image Perception Among Saudi Arabian Adolescent: A Cross-Sectional Analysis.

Objective: Body image influences well-being and encompasses cognitive, emotional, and idealistic aspects. Adolescents often experience body image dissatisfaction (BID) because of societal pressures caused by excessive social media (SM) use. Studies in France and Saudi Arabia link SM to BID, but the protective role of parent-adolescent relationships in Saudi Arabia remains unclear. This study evaluated whether positive relationships counteract the effects of SM on BID among Saudi adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Saudi Arabia on 377 adolescents from April 2023 to

Utilizing qualitative methods, our work integrates how various community actors perceive problems around synthetic drug use. Thirty face-to-face interviews were conducted in Kunming that were audio-recorded and transcribed. We i
