Minimal invasiveness in the transcrestal elevation of the maxillary sinus floor: A systematic review.

In the attempt to reduce the invasiveness of a transcrestal sinus floor elevation procedure, different aspects must be considered; that is, the minimization of intra- and postsurgery morbidity, the reduction of treatment time, and the simplification/elimination of the reconstructive technology. Within this context, a systematic literature search was performed for controlled clinical trials evaluating the impact of one or more of these aspects on transcrestal sinus floor elevation invasiveness. Nineteen articles (15 studies) were included. Overall, the results confirmed that transcrestal sinus

A 10-Year Follow-Up Study on the Success Rate of Maxillary Sinus Floor Augmentation and Implant Placement in Relation to Strontium Ranelate.

Background: Maxillary sinus floor augmentation (MSFA) is frequently required for implant placement in the atrophic posterior maxilla. However, limited bone quality and volume can compromise long-term success. Strontium ranelate (SrR), a dual-acting bone agent, stimulates osteoblasts while inhibiting osteoclasts, potentially improving bone density and osseointegration in grafted sites. Objective: This 10-year preliminary split-mouth study evaluated the long-term effects of SrR on bone density, volume, and implant success following MSFA. Methods: Six patients underwent bilateral MSFA using a lat

Influence of ZAGA Classification on the Accuracy of 150 Digitally Planned Zygomatic Implants Placement.

AIM: This 3D analysis assessed the accuracy of zygomatic implant (ZI) placement using a static surgical guide in correlation with ZAGA classification and the rehabilitation type. METHODS: Pre-surgical CT scans were used to create a virtual surgical plane, exported as .stl files, and to define the ZAGA classification of each implant. A CT scan was taken 6 months post-surgery, and segmentation of the zygomatic implants was performed. The 3D analysis on 3DSlicer software compared planned and placed zygomatic implants, measuring linear and angular displacements at the apex and base of each model.

Hybrid implant-supported rehabilitation of severely atrophic jaws using custom-made subperiosteal and conventional endosseous implants: A retrospective case series.

Severe alveolar bone atrophy represents a major challenge for implant-supported rehabilitation of the maxilla and mandible. While custom-made subperiosteal implants and conventional endosseous implants have each been proposed as graftless solutions in selected clinical scenarios, the outcomes of hybrid rehabilitations combining both implant systems within the same jaw have not yet been investigated. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of hybrid implant-supported rehabilitations using custom-made subperiosteal implants in combination with c
