Cardiovascular risk factors and diseases are the most prevalent health conditions in train drivers. A comparative cross-sectional study was carried out to estimate the prevalence of some cardiovascular risk factors among train drivers. A pre-designed questionnaire was used to collect socio-demographic and occupational data. Physical activity and dietary habits were assessed, psychological distress was measured. Internationally accepted exposure-response relationships show that railway noise causes less annoyance than road traffic and aircraft noise. Railway transport, both passenger and freight transport, is increasing, and new railway lines are planned for environmental reasons. OBJECTIVES: Despite the recent attention focused on the roles of the NLRP3 inflammasome in the pathogenesis of metabolic and inflammatory diseases, little is known about the activation status of NLRP3 inflammasome in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The present study aimed to investigate whether inflammasomes activation is upregulated in patients with NAFLD and the upregulation can be attenuated by anthocyanins, which are polyphenols with known anti-inflammatory activities.

This retrospective clinical study reports on the experience of palliative venting gastrostomy (PVG) in an integrated acute teaching hospital and hospice-based palliative care service over a seven-year period (1989-97).
