Three-dimensional optoacoustic imaging of nailfold capillaries in systemic sclerosis and its potential for disease differentiation using deep learning.

The autoimmune disease systemic sclerosis (SSc) causes microvascular changes that can be easily observed cutaneously at the finger nailfold. Optoacoustic imaging (OAI), a combination of optical and ultrasound imaging, specifically raster-scanning optoacoustic mesoscopy (RSOM), offers a non-invasive high-resolution 3D visualization of capillaries allowing for a better view of microvascular changes and an extraction of volumetric measures. In this study, nailfold capillaries of patients with SSc and healthy controls are imaged and compared with each other for the first time using OAI. The nailfo

Nailfold capillaroscopy assessment of microcirculation abnormalities and endothelial dysfunction in children with primary or secondary Raynaud syndrome.

Raynaud syndrome (RS) manifests as episodes of transient spasms of peripheral blood vessels, most often in response to cold. The reason of that symptom (primary RS (pRS)) usually cannot be found but may be accompanied by some autoimmune diseases (secondary RS (sRS)). In this study, we assessed microcapillary status and serum concentrations of chosen cytokines, adhesive molecules, and nitric oxide (NO) in patients with pRS and sRS in comparison with healthy children. Eighty-six patients with RS were enrolled into the study, including 52 with pRS and 34 with sRS. The control group consisted of 2

Nail fold capillary observation in replanted severed fingers.

Observation of circulation in replanted severed fingers often relies on the clinical experience of the doctor. This article discusses nail fold capillary loops (NFCL) observation in the monitoring of the perfusion and circumfluence of replanted digits. In our study, 30 patients with a total of 39 replanted digits were selected. The WX-9A900 Microcirculation Checkout System (MCS) was adopted to perform evaluation of circulation postoperatively. The digits were monitored by clinical examination and MCS at 5- to 7-h intervals for 24 h and then at 2-days intervals for 14 days. Our results showed t
