Angiokeratoma corporis diffusum associated with galactosialidosis.

We describe a 34-year-old Japanese man with generalized angiokeratomas and various neurological symptoms since childhood. A number of reddish papules were scattered over his entire body and were especially numerous on his elbows, knees, penis and scrotum. An electron-microscopic study revealed a number of vacuoles in the cytoplasm of the vascular endothelial cells. This finding suggests that the angiokeratomas resulted from an injury of the endothelial cells due to the storage of metabolic material. A laboratory examination demonstrated a deficiency of both the beta-galactosidase and neuramida

An Extreme Case of Fordyce Angiokeratoma.

Angiokeratomas are benign vascular ectasias that can present with bleeding or cosmetic concerns. We present an extreme case of Fordyce angiokeratoma. Usual treatment modalities, including medical management with analgesics and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, as well as laser treatments, were not viable options in this unique case. Surgical excision with autografting offered a curative treatment option in this case.

Eruptive angiokeratomas on the glans penis.

Angiokeratomas are benign proliferations of dilated thin-walled blood vessels in the upper dermis with overlying epidermal hyperkeratosis. There are several clinical variants of angiokeratomas: 1. Fordyce: smooth reddish-purple papules on scrotum or vulva; 2. Mibelli: hyperkeratotic papules on fingers or toes, solitary, multiple, or circumscriptum (grouped papules usually on an extremity); 4. angiokeratoma corporis diffusum, widespread papules that are a manifestation of one of several inherited lysozomal storage diseases. Herein, we report a rare case of multiple angiokeratomas of Fordyce on

Angiokeratoma of fordyce on unusual site.

A 19-year-old married man presented with multiple, bright-red and reddish-blue papular lesions on glans and prepuce with intermittent bleeding on maceration since 6 months duration. Histopathological study revealed features of angiokeratoma.

Angiokeratoma: a cause of scrotal bleeding.

We report a case of Fordyce angiokeratoma which presented with bleeding from the scrotum. The difference between Fordyce's angiokeratoma and Fabry's angiokeratoma corporis diffusum is described. The diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of scrotal angiokeratoma are discussed.

Beta-mannosidosis with angiokeratoma corporis diffusum.

Beta-mannosidosis is a lysosomal disorder which is caused by a deficiency of beta-mannosidase. This disorder was first described in goats. Twelve human cases have already been reported. We present the first case in Japan in whom the diagnosis was reached from angiokeratoma corporis diffusum. Futhermore, mental retardation, hearing loss, and renal failure were also detected. Pseudoxanthoma elasticum was also present, but whether it is a complication of beta-mannosidosis or not remains unknown. The activity level of beta-mannosidase in the patient's plasma was only 2% of the normal range, while

Cutaneous variant of angiokeratoma corporis diffusum.

A case of angiokeratoma corporis diffusum (ACD) involving the skin of a 22-year-old patient presenting with normal physical and mental development is reported. ACD presenting with skin lesions alone is a rare but specific clinical entity, which differs from hereditary sphingolipidoses such as Fabry's disease.

[Anderson-Fabry disease (angiokeratoma corporis diffusum)].

A 49-year-old man with angiokeratoma corporis diffusum is reported. Dermatological, ophthalmological or renal abnormalities have so far been found in 14 of the relatives of the patient. The typical dermal signs of the patient appeared on the distal part of the trunk at the age of 5-6 years, and swelling of the left leg occurred in adulthood. Besides the bicuspidal insufficiency, examination revealed ophthalmological symptoms, signs of renal damage, and the alpha-galactosidase activity deficiency of the leucocytes.

[Angiokeratoma corporis diffusum in 2 brothers].

Two brothers suffering from Fabry disease, with classical dermatological and with ophthalmological symptoms, early signs of renal lesions and diminished fertility are presented. The diagnosis is verified by electronmicroscopical investigations. Good symptomic-therapeutic effect of hydantoin-derivatives was observed.

Angiokeratomas Scroti Associated with Angiokeratomas of the Eyelids: Coincidence or One Entity? A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

We describe a unique patient with multiple angiokeratomas on both upper eyelids and on the scrotum. We review the literature and discuss the pathogenetic relationship. Angiokeratomas are described as vascular lesions, which are defined histologically as one or several dilated blood vessel(s) covered by a keratotic layer. They are usually divided into 5 groups: angiokeratoma of Mibelli, Fordyce's angiokeratoma, angiokeratoma corporis diffusum, angiokeratoma circumscriptum naeviforme and solitary angiokeratoma. Angiokeratomas of the eyelid are a very rare finding in the literature, whereas they

Solitary Angiokeratoma: Report of Two Uncommon Cases.

Angiokeratomas are rare benign vascular skin lesions arising in isolation or in groups of multiple lesions, as solitary cutaneous forms or generalized systemic forms. They are ectasias of dermal capillaries with an acanthotic and hyperkeratotic epidermis. They can occur in both healthy individuals and in those with underlying systemic disease due to inherited enzyme deficiency or other acquired predisposing factors. The identification and reporting of these lesions is important as patients with these lesions should be evaluated to rule out underlying pathogenic conditions. We report two rare c

Adolescent Vulvar Angiokeratoma Associated with Lichen Sclerosus.

BACKGROUND: We present an adolescent with multiple vulvar angiokeratomas within a background of lichen sclerosus. CASE: A 13-year-old girl presented with vulvar pruritus and wart-like vulvar lesions. Four lesions were resected because of discomfort and uncertainty of the diagnosis. Pathology revealed angiokeratomas with chronic inflammation suggestive of lichen sclerosus. Postoperatively, pruritus continued in the largest excised lesion, which was associated with lichen sclerosus, and symptoms were treated successfully with topical steroids. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION: Vulvar angiokeratomas are

A very rare case of vaginal angiokeratoma.

Angiokeratomas are benign, vascular lesions that are very rarely identified in the vagina. A patient originally presented with endometrial cancer in 1993 and was cured following surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy. However, in 2007, she developed multiple, erythematous, vaginal nodules that were eventually diagnosed as angiokeratoma of the vagina. The diagnosis of vaginal angiokeratoma may not be initially suspected. Therefore, physicians should perform a histologic examination to verify the condition and accordingly, provide relevant clinical management.

Angiokeratoma: a cutaneous marker of Fabry's disease.

The initial symptoms of Fabry's disease (FD) may seem harmless and may delay its diagnosis. A survey and screening for FD were performed on men with biopsy-proven angiokeratoma and some of their relatives (n = 29). Three patients were identified. Dermatologists should be aware of this prominent early feature and investigate unexplained cutaneous vascular lesions to detect FD.

Angiokeratoma of Fordyce simulating recurrent penile cancer.

Penile cancer requires careful clinical follow-up. Therefore, when a patient presented with a florid papillary lesion at his penectomy site, it was immediately biopsied. The histologic examination, however, revealed a benign angiokeratoma with no evidence of recurrent cancer. Angiokeratoma on the scrotum after treatment for carcinoma of the penis has only been documented once. To our knowledge, this is the first description of it causing a diagnostic dilemma with recurrence. A radiotherapy association has only been documented in vulval lesions. Symptomatic treatment is laser vaporization. This
