The biochemical markers secreted by Gaucher's cells are numerous, but none of those identified to date has offered all the expected qualities of a biomarker. Chitotriosidase and chemokine CCL18 are the most useful markers to follow enzyme replacement therapy. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is heterogenous on molecular, cellular, tissue, and clinical levels. Although many biomarkers have been described in clinical studies, few have been rigorously mapped to specific molecular pathways, tissue pathologies, and clinical manifestations.
