Tumoral Skin Invasion Is an Independent Predictor of Rapid Recurrence in Head and Neck Cancer.

BACKGROUND: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is an aggressive malignancy, with 50% of patients recurring. A subset of patients experience rapid recurrence (RR) postoperatively but prior to adjuvant therapy. This study identifies factors associated with RR and additional recurrence intervals: short-interval recurrence (SIR) and standard recurrence (SR). METHODS: Retrospective 10-year review of 246 HNSCC patients undergoing surgery with adjuvant therapy. Recurrence was categorized as RR (prior to initiation of adjuvant therapy), SIR (≤ 6 months post-adjuvant therapy), and SR (> 6 m

Study protocol: an open-label individually randomised controlled trial to assess the efficacy of artemether-lumefantrine prophylaxis for malaria among forest goers in Cambodia.

INTRODUCTION: In the Greater Mekong Subregion, adults are at highest risk for malaria. The most relevant disease vectors bite during daytime and outdoors which makes forest work a high-risk activity for malaria. The absence of effective vector control strategies and limited periods of exposure during forest visits suggest that chemoprophylaxis could be an appropriate strategy to protect forest goers against malaria. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The protocol describes an open-label randomised controlled trial of artemether-lumefantrine (AL) versus multivitamin as prophylaxis against malaria among for

Comment on "Effectiveness and safety of stem cell therapy for diabetic foot: a meta-analysis update".

In the study published by Sun et al., a systematic review and meta-analysis illustrated the advantageous of stem cell therapy in diabetic foot and can improve the quality of life of patients. Nevertheless, the authors had a lack of knowledge regarding the methodology of the meta-analysis, which had four main aspects: (1) The textual report is inconsistent with the forest plot results, i.e., the authors have insufficient knowledge of RevMan. (2) The "zero event" needs to be corrected for summary analysis. (3) Lack of aesthetics in the forest plots. (4) Registration is recommended for systematic
