Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is characterized by systemic lesions presenting as swellings, nodules and wall thickenings. The first-line therapy is glucocorticoids. This disease is common among middle-aged and elderly men, and its uterine mass formation is uncommon. We encountered a 39-year-old nulliparous woman with an IgG4-related uterine mass and enlarged pelvic lymph nodes. Complete remission was achieved by fertility-sparing resection of the uterine mass without glucocorticoids. This case showed that IgG4-RD can present as a uterine mass and we need to be careful of its diag

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic inflammatory condition characterized by tissue infiltration with IgG4+ plasma cells and an elevated serum IgG4 level. It usually occurs in middle-aged or older patients, with male predominance, and can involve multiple organs synchronously or metachronously. Patients with IgG4-RD generally respond to steroid therapy. IgG4-related skin lesions are typically erythematous and itchy plaques, subcutaneous nodules, or papules like prurigo nodularis located on the head and neck areas. Histologically, lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates with abundant

A 60-year-old woman was hospitalized with cardiac tamponade due to effusive pericarditis presenting with significant thickening of the pericardium. Serum immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) level was elevated to 1,800 mg/dL, and an open biopsy specimen from the pericardium revealed massive infiltration of lymphocytes and IgG4-positive plasma cells. She had experienced adenopathies in the lacrimal and parotid glands 6 months earlier, and was diagnosed as having IgG4-related Mikulicz's disease by similar cell infiltration in the salivary gland biopsy. The significant involvement of the pericardium as a man

A 71-year-old woman presented with erythematous, nontender, bilateral hard palate nodules of 6-month duration. Biopsy showed collagenous sclerosis and a follicular lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate among the minor salivary glands. Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and IgG4 staining showed 280 IgG4(+) cells per high-power field and a ratio of IgG4(+) to IgG(+) cells of 0.8. The patient subsequently developed bilateral lacrimal gland and parotid gland enlargement associated with an increased serum IgG4 level of 3,031 mg/dL (≤ 135 mg/dL). Left lacrimal gland biopsy confirmed IgG4-related dacryoadenitis. The pati

Immunoglobulin (Ig)G4-related sclerosing disease (ISD) (also called IgG4-related systemic disease, IgG4-related disease or hyper-IgG4 disease) is a recently described systemic fibroinflammatory disease associated with elevated circulating levels of IgG4. Although initial descriptions of this disorder focused on its pancreatic presentation (autoimmune pancreatitis), it has become apparent that ISD is a systemic disease with many facets. The lesion of ISD is characterised by lymphoplasmacytic inflammation, fibrosis, phlebitis and increased numbers of IgG4-positive plasma cells. The disease can e

Immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related kidney disease characterizing tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) is an organ complication recognized in IgG4-related systemic diseases that has some unique aspects compared to other types of TIN. TIN lesions in the kidney can be tumor-like, focal or diffuse. Abnormal urinalysis is usually mild or absent even in the cases with deteriorated renal dysfunction. Some cases are accidentally diagnosed from radiological findings without renal dysfunction and/or abnormal urinalysis. The typical pathological findings of TIN are unique fibrosis and infiltration of massive l

A 65-year-old man had histories of retroperitoneal fibrosis, membranous nephropathy, and acute coronary syndrome. Chest computed tomography showed an enlarged ascending aorta and type B aortic dissection, and he underwent ascending aorta and arch replacement. A pathological examination of the resected aorta showed immunoglobulin G4-positive plasma cell infiltration.

Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related dacryoadenitis and sialoadenitis (IgG4-DS) are part of a multiorgan fibroinflammatory condition of unknown etiology termed IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD), which has been recognized as a single diagnostic entity for less than 15 years. Histopathologic examination is critical for diagnosis of IgG4-RD. CD4+ T and B cells, including IgG4-expressing plasma cells, constitute the major inflammatory cell populations in IgG4-RD and are thought to cause organ damage and tissue fibrosis. Patients with IgG4-RD who have active, untreated disease exhibit significant increase

With the growing recognition of IgG4-related hepatobiliary disease, establishing a definitive diagnosis relies mainly on a combination of clinical findings, serological markers, and imaging modalities. However, the role of histopathological evaluation remains indispensable, particularly in cases necessitating differential diagnosis or malignancy exclusion. While diagnosing IgG4-related hepatobiliary disease through surgical resection specimens is often straightforward, pathologists encounter substantial challenges when evaluating biopsies. The increasing rarity of surgical interventions exacer

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a rare immune-mediated disease affecting multiple organs and tissues. There is often the presence of elevated serum Ig4 subtype with histological evidence of lymphoplasmacytic infiltration, fibrosis, and phlebitis. The mainstay of treatment is steroid therapy. This case report is based on a 24-year-old man with IgG4-related type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) who also had elevated serum IgG4 subclass and histological features in keeping with IgG4-RD. The main complaints were dry cough, nasal congestion with sneezing, sore throat, and fever. Neces

Solitary organ autoimmune disorders, formerly known as autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP), autoimmune sialadenitis, and autoimmune sclerosing cholangitis, are now considered organ-specific manifestations of systemic immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD). AIP and IgG4-RD are characterized by elevated serum concentration of IgG4 antibody (Ab), accumulation of IgG4-expressing plasmacytes in the affected organs, and involvement of multiple organs. It is well established that enhanced IgG4 Ab responses are a hallmark of AIP and IgG4-RD for diagnosis and monitoring disease activity. However, a sign

A 70-year-old woman with bilateral pleural effusion and respiratory failure was admitted to our hospital. Nephrotic syndrome due to minimal change disease had been diagnosed four months before admission. Because blood tests and a pleural fluid analysis did not reveal the etiology of her condition, we performed a video-assisted thoracoscopic pleural biopsy. No specific thoracoscopic findings were noted. The pathological findings revealed an increase in immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-positive cells; IgG4-related pleuritis was diagnosed. Her pleuritis improved with oral corticosteroid therapy. A furthe

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a fibroinflammatory disorder that begins in 1 or more organs as inflammatory tumors that progress toward fibrosis. It is often accompanied by elevated serum IgG4. IgG4-RD was first described in 2003 as a new concept encompassing a number of immunoallergic diseases that had previously been considered unrelated. IgG4-RD mainly affects middleaged and older men. It consists of upregulation and expansion of CD4+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, oligoclonal plasmablasts, and other inflammatory cells that infiltrate affected tissues and induce inflammation, orga

Currently, there is no randomized controlled clinical trial of immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related diseases in the world. Therefore, the best-known evidence-based medical treatment plan for this disorder is unavailable. The goal of IgG4-related hepatobiliary diseases treatment is to alleviate symptoms, prevent disease-related complications and fibrosis progression. A definite diagnosis is warranted before treatment. Hormonal therapy has become the basis of induction of remission in IgG4-related hepatobiliary disease. An initial prednisone dose is 30 ~ 40mg/d or 0.6 mg.kg-1.d-1 for 2 to 4 weeks, the

BACKGROUND: Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related disease is a more recently recognized syndrome. It is characterized by increasing IgG4-positive plasma cells and lymphocyte infiltration. Reports of intracranial pseudotumors associated with IgG4-related disease are very rare. We report a rare case of clivus pseudotumor associated with IgG4-related disease mimicking meningioma.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 50-year-old man presented with abducens paralysis of the right eye. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a uniformly enhanced mass located in the right upper clivus area, and meningioma was highly su

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated collection of disorders that were once thought to be unrelated but are increasingly being recognized as a single entity. The tumor-like swelling of the involved organ, a storiform pattern of fibrosis, and a serologic elevation of IgG4 can lead to the diagnosis of IgG4-RD. The usual organs affected are the pancreas, biliary tract, and salivary and lacrimal glands. There have been few reports of intrathoracic cases, which usually have pulmonary lesions. We here report a case of IgG4-RD of the anterior mediastinum in the form of a
