Early detection of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) improves its prognosis and aids in selecting the appropriate treatment, which may also have a positive effect on quality of life. This study presents, for the first time, sequences of five beta-keratin cDNAs from turtle epidermis obtained by means of 5'- and 3'-rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) analyses. The deduced amino acid sequences correspond to distinct glycine-proline-serine-tyrosine rich proteins containing 122-174 amino acids. PURPOSE: Breast cancers in the early phase frequently undergo distant metastasis and survival of patients is greatly dependent on distant metastasis. While this entity can also present extraorally, including on the skin and in anogenital areas, the variation in its histologic features in extraoral sites is not yet well defined.
