Chitosan Nanoparticle-Based Drug Delivery Systems: Advances, Challenges, and Future Perspectives.

The effectiveness and uses of chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) in drug delivery systems are examined in this work. Important results include the improved drug encapsulating efficiency: CNPs showed up to 90% encapsulation for different therapeutic agents. Furthermore, the research shows that CNPs provide extended-release patterns, greatly enhancing medication bioavailability especially for hydrophobic compounds. One interesting outcome was the greater drug stability in acidic surroundings, which are common in the stomach, where CNPs turn into a gel and later inflate in the intestine where the drug

Preparation of multifunctional Janus nanoparticles on the basis of SPIONs as targeted drug delivery system.

Passing the Blood-Brain-Barrier (BBB) is a challenging aspect in nanomedicine. Utilizing surfactant particles is reported to be a potent strategy for easier BBB penetration. On the other hand, loading different functional molecules on a single particle is therapeutically and economically beneficial. In this study, multifunctional amphiphilic Janus nanoparticles have been prepared on the basis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. This Janus platform is armed with folic acid targeting agent and Doxorubicin (DOX) drug that have been conjugated on different sides of the nanoparticles. DO

Biomimetic insulin-imprinted polymer nanoparticles as a potential oral drug delivery system.

In this study, we investigate molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), which form a three-dimensional image of the region at and around the active binding sites of pharmaceutically active insulin or are analogous to b cells bound to insulin. This approach was employed to create a welldefined structure within the nanospace cavities that make up functional monomers by cross-linking. The obtained MIPs exhibited a high adsorption capacity for the target insulin, which showed a significantly higher release of insulin in solution at pH 7.4 than at pH 1.2. In vivo studies on diabetic Wistar rats showed

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles as potential drug delivery systems for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

This study aims to use superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), specifically magnetite (Fe3O4), to deliver deflazacort (DFZ) and ibuprofen (IBU) to Duchenne muscular dystrophy-affected (DMD) mouse muscles using an external magnetic field. The SPIONs are synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and their surfaces are functionalized with L-cysteine to anchor the drugs, considering that the cysteine on the surface of the SPIONs in the solid state dimerizes to form the cystine molecule, creating the Fe3O4-(Cys)2-DFZ and Fe3O4-(Cys)2-IBU systems for in vivo tests. The Fe3O4 nanoparti

Nanoparticles with surface features of dendritic oligopeptides as potential oral drug delivery systems.

Surface features are key to the transcellular transport of nanoparticles (NPs) across intestinal epithelium cells. Endowing the NPs with specific surface features adapted to the physiological conditions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract holds great potential for the oral delivery of peptide/protein drugs. Therefore, in this work, a glutamic acid conjugated amphiphilic dendrimer (Glu-APD) was synthesized to replace the widely used 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidyl-ethanolamine-polyethylene glycol (DSPE-PEG) in the preparation of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA)-based NPs. Hyaluronic acid-coated gold nanoparticles as a controlled drug delivery system for poorly water-soluble drugs.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural linear polysaccharide which has been widely used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals including drug delivery systems because of its excellent biocompatibility. In this study, we investigated the one-pot synthesis of HA-coated gold nanoparticles (AuNP-HA) as a drug delivery carrier. The HAs with different molecular weights were produced by e-beam irradiation and employed as coating materials for AuNPs. Sulfasalazine (SSZ), a poorly water-soluble drug, was used to demonstrate the efficiency of drug delivery and the controlled release behaviour of the AuNP-HA. As th
