Absorption of sulfur dioxide from simulated flue gas by polyethyleneimine-phosphoric acid solution.

Clean fuel technologies have been widely developed in current society because fuel combustion can directly bring about the emission of hazardous gasses such as SO2. Flue gas desulfurization by polyethyleneimine (PEI)-phosphoric acid solution is an efficient desulfurization method. In this research, the PEI and the additive H3PO4 were used as absorption solution. SO2 was absorbed by the system and desorbed from the loaded solution. The cycle operation was also analyzed. Some technology conditions such as the concentration of PEI, the temperature, the gas flow rate, the concentration of SO2 and

Volatility of heavy metals during incineration of tannery sludge in the presence of chlorides and phosphoric acid.

Knowledge of the behaviour of heavy metals in the combustion process is a most important factor in selecting disposal alternatives for waste materials. Accordingly, in this work, the vaporization behaviour of highly concentrated heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Cu and Cr) in tannery sludge were investigated experimentally. The sludge was spiked with various chlorine compounds (i.e. PVC, FeCl3, CaCl2 and NaCl) and pre-treated with phosphoric acid in order to evaluate the capacity of enhancement and weakening of the volatility of the heavy metals contained in tannery sludge. The experimental results show t

Some aromatic hydrazone derivatives as inhibitors for the corrosion of C-steel in phosphoric acid solution.

The effect of furfural benzoylhydrazone and its derivatives (I-VII) as corrosion inhibitors for C-steel in 1M phosphoric acid solution has been studied by weight-loss and galvanostatic polarization techniques. A significant decrease in the corrosion rate of C-steel was observed in the presence of the investigated inhibitors. This study revealed that, the inhibition efficiency increases with increasing the inhibitor concentration, and the addition of iodide ions enhances it to a considerable extent. The effect of temperature on the inhibition efficiency of these compounds was studied using weig

Construction of chiral 1,4-DHPs by chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed desymmetric reductive amination.

Herein, we report an asymmetric reductive amination reaction catalyzed by a chiral phosphoric acid, which enables the enantioselective desymmetrization of 1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dialdehydes. This reaction features mild conditions, high enantioselectivity, and readily available starting materials. Gram-scale experiments demonstrated that the reaction maintained excellent enantioselectivity, and the product could be readily converted into other chiral 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives. These results underscore the potential of this method for practical applications.

Removal of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim from water using phosphoric acid-activated corncob biochar.

The pseudo-persistence of antibiotics like sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and trimethoprim (TMP) in aquatic environments poses a growing threat to ecosystems and human health due to the increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance. This study evaluated the removal of SMX and TMP from water using corncob-activated biochar (CB700) synthesized via phosphoric acid activation and pyrolysis at 700 °C. Batch adsorption experiments evaluated the effects of contact time, pH, dosage, initial concentration, and temperature, while kinetic and isotherm models elucidated adsorption mechanisms. CB700 achieved m

Total synthesis of (±)-decursivine via BINOL-phosphoric acid catalyzed tandem oxidative cyclization.

The synthesis of tetracyclic indole alkaloid (±)-decursivine was accomplished using BINOL-phosphoric acid catalyzed tandem oxidative cyclization as a key step with (bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo)benzene (PIFA) as an oxidizing agent. This represents one of the shortest and highest yielding routes for the synthesis of (±)-decursivine from readily available starting materials.

Enantioselective continuous-flow production of 3-indolylmethanamines mediated by an immobilized phosphoric acid catalyst.

A polystyrene-supported 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol derived phosphoric acid has been synthesized and applied in the enantioselective Friedel-Crafts reaction of indoles and sulfonylimines. The immobilized catalyst was highly active and selective, and gave rise to a broad range of 3-indolylmethanamines (19 examples) in high yields and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98 % enantiomeric excess) after short reaction times under very convenient reaction conditions (RT in dichloromethane). Moreover, repeated recycling (14 cycles) was possible with no substantial loss in catalytic performance and the syst

Surface treatment agent for dental metals using a thiirane monomer and a phosphoric acid monomer.

To develop a new surface treatment agent which improves the bond strength of adhesive resin to both non-precious and precious metals, experimental treatment agents containing both an adhesive bonding promoter for precious metals and one for non-precious metals were prepared by dissolving epithioalkyl methacrylate (EP3MA or EP8MA) and 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (MDP) in acetone. The surfaces of dental metals were treated by the treatment agents and metal specimens were butt-jointed together with MMA-PMMA resins. After 2,000 thermal cyclings in water at temperatures of 4 and 60

Colorimetric paper-based detection of phosphoric acid in packaged foods for point-of-care quality control.

Here, we present the development of a paper-based colorimetric device for the rapid and easy quantification of phosphoric acid (PA) in packaged food samples using the phosphoantimonylmolybdenum (PMB) assay. The underlying sensing mechanism is based on the molybdenum blue reaction, in which phosphate reacts with a molybdate-antimony complex under acidic conditions and is subsequently reduced by L-ascorbic acid to develop a blue color which is quantified using smartphone imaging. The developed platform enables accurate PA determination with a LoD of 22 ppm and LoQ of 73 ppm and shows strong agre

Phosphoric Acid-Modified TiO2 Nanoparticles as Functional Additives for High-Performance Polyethersulfone Ultrafiltration Membranes.

Polyethersulfone (PES) ultrafiltration membranes were modified with phosphoric acid-functionalized TiO2 nanoparticles (0-1 wt%) via phase inversion to enhance permeability, antifouling performance, and dye removal for wastewater treatment. Structural and morphological analyses confirmed the successful modification and uniform incorporation of TiO2 within the PES matrix. The membrane containing 0.5 wt% TiO2 exhibited optimal performance, achieving the lowest contact angle (~39°), highest porosity (~65.5%), and maximum pure water flux (~292 L·m-2·h-1), compared to 204 L·m-2·h-1 for pristine PES.

Molecular insights into the catalytic oxidation of methanol-to-olefins wastewater with phosphoric acid modified sludge biochar.

With the development of methanol-to-olefin (MTO) process, the effective disposal of wastewater was one key factor for the long-period and benign development of this technology. Herein, a sludge-based biochar catalyst (GSC-P) was synthesized and used in photo-Fenton reaction for the degradation of MTO wastewater from the outlet of a biological aerated filter. More iron was distributed on the surface of GSC-P catalyst, facilitating the photo-Fenton oxidation of MTO wastewater, with chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal rate of 75.4% and total organic carbon (TOC) removal rate of 62.5%. New Poplar-Derived Biocomposites via Single-Step Thermoforming Assisted by Phosphoric Acid Pretreatment.

One-step thermoforming represents an effective approach to preparing glue-free biocomposites. This study aimed to produce glue-free biocomposites with high-temperature resistance and mechanical properties using phosphoric acid pretreatments combined with thermoforming. Due to the hot-moulding process, the cell wall was destroyed, which allowed the fibres to adhere closely together. Most hemicelluloses were hydrolysed through pretreatment with phosphoric acid, and the contact area between the cellulose and lignin was significantly increased. The biocomposites prepared by ball milling demonstrat

Chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed desymmetrizative glycosylation of 2-deoxystreptamine and its application to aminoglycoside synthesis.

This work describes chiral phosphoric acid (CPA)-catalyzed desymmetrizative glycosylation of meso-diol derived from 2-deoxystreptamine. The chirality of CPA dictates the outcome of the glycosylation reactions, and the use of enantiomeric CPAs results in either C4-glycosylated (67 : 33 d.r.) or C6-glycosylated (86 : 14 d.r.) 2-deoxystreptamines. These glycosylated products can be converted to aminoglycosides, and the application of this strategy to the synthesis of protected iso-neamine and iso-kanamycin B with inverted connection at the C4 and C6 positions is described.

Enantioselective synthesis of α,α-diarylketones by sequential visible light photoactivation and phosphoric acid catalysis.

Chiral ketones and their derivatives are useful synthetic intermediates for the synthesis of biologically active natural products and medicinally relevant molecules. Nevertheless, general and broadly applicable methods for enantioenriched acyclic α,α-disubstituted ketones, especially α,α-diarylketones, remain largely underdeveloped, owing to the easy racemization. Here, we report a visible light photoactivation and phosphoric acid-catalyzed alkyne-carbonyl metathesis/transfer hydrogenation one-pot reaction using arylalkyne, benzoquinone, and Hantzsch ester for the expeditious synthesis of α,α-

Visible-light-induced coupling of carboxylic acids with alcohols/amines via a phosphorous linchpin strategy.

The combination of activated carboxylic acids and alcohols/amines to access esters and amides, respectively, is a cornerstone of organic chemistry and has been well developed over the past century. These dehydrations are extensively used in medicinal chemistry and natural product synthesis due to the prevalence of these functional groups in bioactive molecules. Here, we report a divergent process from the expected ester/amide outcomes through a light-induced coupling of activated carboxylic acids and alcohols/amines to efficiently prepare α-hydroxy/amino ketones or β-ketophosphonates via singl
