Criteria for Return to Sport after Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction with lower reinjury risk (CR'STAL study): protocol for a prospective observational study in France.

INTRODUCTION: The decision regarding when to return to sport after an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is an important one. Using a variety of subjective and objective parameters, various attempts have been made to determine an optimal timeline for a return to sport after ACLR, but none have been validated.The aim of the present study is therefore to determine which criteria or combination of criteria could allow to return to sport with the lowest possible risk of reinjury. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This study is a prospective cohort, single-centre study, with repeated assessments

Hop Test Performance is Associated with Return-to-Sport but Shows Limited Association with Reinjury after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Hop tests are commonly used to assess return to sports (RTS) after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), yet whether they can effectively predict successful RTS and reinjury risk remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the associations between hop test performance and the likelihood of RTS and reinjury following ACLR. PubMed, SPORTDiscus with Full Text, MEDLINE and Web of Science were searched for studies that included participants with primary unilateral ACLR, assessed functional performance using hop tests and reported outcomes of RTS and rein

Precision Rehabilitation After Youth Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: Individualized Reinjury Risk Stratification and Modifiable Risk Factor Identification to Guide Late-Phase Rehabilitation.

BACKGROUND: After anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, adolescent athletes have a high risk of second ACL injuries, and revision ACL reconstruction is associated with increased medical costs, reduced activity levels, chronic knee pain, and higher rates of knee osteoarthritis, making the prevention of a reinjury a priority. While athlete clearance protocols and algorithms exist, the current methods of identifying the reinjury risk have limited predictive accuracy and are largely based on nonmodifiable risk factors, which limit their clinical application. PURPOSE: The goal of this s

A Guideline for Validated Return-to-Sport Testing in Everyday Clinical Practice: A Focused Review on the Validity, Reliability, and Feasibility of Tests Estimating the Risk of Reinjury After ACL Reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: Information derived from functional return-to-sport (RTS) tests after primary anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR) can have a significant impact on the risk reduction of ACL reruptures. However, due to space, time, and financial limitations, few clinicians utilize objective data to assess their patients' functional abilities after ACLR. PURPOSE: To identify validated and feasible RTS tests that could reliably estimate the risk of reinjury after ACLR in everyday clinical practice beyond the highly sophisticated laboratory setting. STUDY DESIGN: Systematic review;

Case Report: Xsens motion analysis and virtual reality-based rehabilitation in a national-level badminton player following MPFL reinjury leading to postoperative patellar fracture.

INTRODUCTION: Recurrent patellar dislocation presents a significant rehabilitation challenge, particularly in athletes engaged in high-demand, multi-directional sports such as badminton. This case report describes a complex presentation in a state-level athlete with multiple patellar dislocations, followed by medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction and a subsequent comminuted patellar fracture. The case was further complicated by proprioceptive deficits, extension lag, sensory changes, and kinesiophobia, all of which limited the athlete's functional performance and return to sport

Combining an Anterolateral Complex Procedure With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Reduces Graft Reinjury Without Increasing the Rate of Complications: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

BACKGROUND: Anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ALLR) or lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) has been used more frequently in conjunction with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) in recent years. However, there are still concerns that these procedures may lead to complications such as overconstraint of the lateral compartment, stiffness, infections, tunnel convergence, and other intra- and postoperative complications because of increased surgical time and the need for additional procedures. HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE: The lateral extra-articular procedure will reduce the failure r

Combining an Anterolateral Complex Procedure With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Reduces the Graft Reinjury Rate and Improves Clinical Outcomes: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

BACKGROUND: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR) is a well-established surgical procedure, but it may not always restore complete rotational knee stability. Interest is increasing in anterolateral complex (ALC) procedures, lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) and anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ALLR), in association with ACLR to overcome this problem. The better ALC procedure, LET or ALLR, remains controversial to date. PURPOSE: To analyze the patient-reported outcome measures and ACL reinjury rate after ACLR with an ALC procedure compared with after isolated ACLR,
