Multifaceted plant growth-promoting traits of indigenous rhizospheric microbes against Phomopsis theae, a causal agent of stem canker in tea plants.

Phomopsis canker is one of the major devastating stem diseases that occur in tea plants caused by the fungal pathogen Phomopsis theae. Rapid development of this disease leads to a capital loss in the tea industry which demands an ecofriendly disease management strategy to control this aggressive pathogen. A total of 245 isolates were recovered from the tea rhizosphere and screened for in vitro plant growth promoting (PGP) traits and antagonism against P. theae. Among them, twelve isolates exhibited multifarious PGP traits including phytohormones, siderophore, hydrogen cyanide, salicylic acid p

Microalgal fertilizers as sustainable alternatives to chemical fertilizers: Enhancing pepper yield and soil health through reduced synthetic input strategies.

Long-term excessive application of chemical fertilizers (CF) has led to a decline in soil fertility and the deterioration of soil health. Consequently, developing eco-friendly microbial fertilizers as alternatives to chemical inputs has become a global consensus for promoting sustainable agriculture. To explore the underexplored potential and soil-modulating mechanisms of microalgae-based fertilizers, this study investigates their feasibility of microalgae-based fertilizers as CF substitutes for enhancing the yield and quality of peppers (Capsicum annuum L.). We compared the application effect

Concentration and type of bioaerosols before and after conventional disinfection and sterilization procedures inside hospital operating rooms.

Operating rooms (ORs) in hospitals are sensitive wards because patients can get infections. This work aimed to characterize the type and concentration of bioaerosols in nine ORs of an educational hospital before and after sterilization and disinfection. During 2017, fungal samples were incubated at 25-28 °C for 3-7 days and bacterial samples at 37 °C for 24-48 h. The study results showed that the concentrations of fungi before cleaning procedures (for both of disinfection and sterilization) were limited from 4.83 to 18.40 CFU/m3 and after cleaning procedures ranged from 1.90 to 8.90 CFU/m3. Trichogin GA IV: a versatile template for the synthesis of novel peptaibiotics.

Trichogin GA IV, isolated from the fungus Trichoderma longibrachiatum, is the prototype of lipopeptaibols, the sub-class of short-length peptaibiotics exhibiting membrane-modifying properties. This peptaibol is predominantly folded in a mixed 3(10)-/α- helical conformation with a clear, albeit modest, amphiphilic character, which is likely to be responsible for its capability to perturb bacterial membranes and to induce cell death. In previous papers, we reported on the interesting biological properties of trichogin GA IV, namely its good activity against Gram positive bacteria, in particular

Enhancing greywater phytoremediation through microbial assistance for sustainable urban water management.

Increasing global water scarcity has intensified the need for sustainable and decentralized wastewater treatment solutions. Phytoremediation using plants such as Helianthus annuus offers an environmentally friendly option for greywater reuse, yet its effectiveness is often constrained by plant stress under high surfactant loads. In this study, we introduce an integrated approach that combines microbial-assisted phytoremediation with machine learning (ML) to both enhance and predict remediation performance. Plants were supplemented with a rhizospheric consortium of Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomona

A Variety of Fungal Species on the Green Frogs' Skin (Pelophylax esculentus complex) in South Banat.

In the last several decades, amphibian populations have been declining worldwide. Many factors have been linked to global amphibian decline, including habitat destruction, pollution, introduced species, global environmental changes, and emerging infectious diseases. Recent studies of amphibian skin infections were mainly focused on the presence of chytridiomycosis, neglecting other members of the frogs' skin communities. The diversity pattern of fungal dwellers on the skin of green frogs (Pelophylax esculentus complex) was investigated. A total of 100 adults were sampled from three localities
