RATIONALE: While capsular contraction syndrome (CCS) typically develops months after cataract surgery, its potential for rapid progression in uveitis patients remains poorly characterized. This case addresses the critical knowledge gap regarding ultra-early-onset CCS and its diagnostic challenges in inflammatory eye disease.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 63-year-old male with controlled uveitis reported rapidly worsening blurred vision (15 days postphacoemulsification) despite initially good postoperative visual acuity (0.4 at 1 week). The vision deteriorated to hand motion at 10 cm, unresponsive to an

INTRODUCTION: Synovial chondromatosis of the knee is a rare, intermediate (locally aggressive) disorder that may present as a diffuse disease with large nodules, which is particularly challenging when the posterior compartment and retrocruciate space are involved, as the proximity to the neurovascular bundle limits standard arthroscopic access.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 37-year-old woman presented with a 5-6-year history of progressive right knee pain, recurrent mechanical locking, spontaneous effusions, severe stiffness, and muscle atrophy. Range of motion showed a 12° extension deficit and flexi

Background and Clinical Significance: Malignant glaucoma, also described as aqueous misdirection syndrome, most commonly occurs following trabeculectomy in patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma and a shallow anterior chamber. Management aims to restore normal anterior segment anatomy, re-establish aqueous flow from the posterior to the anterior chamber, and achieve adequate intraocular pressure control. This report presents a case of malignant glaucoma developing after trabeculectomy, with emphasis on current diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Case Presentation: A patient with prima

Knee dislocation is a rare but severe injury that involves damage to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), lateral or medial ligamentous structures, and other soft tissues or bony structures surrounding the knee joint. No consensus exists regarding the best treatment method. This work presents a method of 1-stage ACL and PCL reconstruction in which a contralateral quadriceps tendon-bone autograft with tibial inlay technique is used for the PCL and contralateral hamstring tendon autograft with suspension fixation is used for the ACL. After harvesting grafts, t

The primary source for the blood supply of the head of the femur is the deep branch of the medial femoral circumflex artery (MFCA). In posterior approaches to the hip and pelvis the short external rotators are often divided. This can damage the deep branch and interfere with perfusion of the head. We describe the anatomy of the MFCA and its branches based on dissections of 24 cadaver hips after injection of neoprene-latex into the femoral or internal iliac arteries. The course of the deep branch of the MFCA was constant in its extracapsular segment. In all cases there was a trochanteric branch

BACKGROUND: Late-onset capsule block syndrome (CBS) is a rare complication of cataract phacoemulsification and the implantation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens (PCIOL), which manifests six months to years after surgery. The hallmark of CBS is the formation of an opaque liquid substance between the implanted intraocular lens (IOL) and the posterior capsule. However, its pathogenesis remains unclear.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 64-year-old female patient with chronic angle-closure glaucoma (axis length < 21 mm) underwent trabeculectomy surgery combined with phacoemulsification and PCIOL. After

PURPOSE: To report a rare and complicated case of bilateral Acanthamoeba sclerokeratitis (ASK).
METHODS: Case report of a 42-year-old patient who was referred to the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary 7 months after a history of culture-confirmed bilateral Acanthamoeba polyphaga sclerokeratitis. At the time of referral to the MEEI, he was noted to have iris neovascularization and chronic mydriasis in both eyes. The anterior chambers were shallow, and there were mature cortical cataracts that obscured the posterior pole in both eyes. His visual acuity in both eyes was limited to hand motions.
