INTRODUCTION: Uterine inversion is an uncommon condition characterized by the invagination of the fundus of the uterus through the vagina and is extremely rare in non-pregnancy settings. Non-puerperal uterine inversion is usually precipitated by tumours exerting traction force on the fundus of the uterus, turning the uterus partially or completely inside out. It is most frequently associated with benign tumours such as submucosal leiomyomas; however, malignant tumours are a rare association.

Müllerian adenosarcomas usually arise as polypoid masses in the endometrium of post-menopausal women. Occasionally, these tumors arise in the cervix, vagina, broad and round ligaments, ovaries and rarely in extragenital sites; these cases are generally associated with endometriosis. We experienced a rare case of extraendometrial, intramural adenosarcoma arising in a patient with adenomyosis. A 40-year-old woman presented with sudden-onset suprapubic pain. The imaging findings suggested leiomyoma with cystic degeneration in the uterine fundus. An ill-defined ovoid tumor with hemorrhagic degener

AIM: We report an unusual case of broken adenosarcoma located in the omentum that has procured a clinical situation of acute abdomen in a patient.
CASE REPORT: A 79 year-old woman went to the emergency room for growing abdominal pain and then transferred to our department. In previous years the patient had removed endo-cervical and endometrial fibro-glandular polyps and subsequently to a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy was performed for another endometrial fibroglandular polyp; other vaginal recurrences were then removed. We performed a computed tomography thanks t

One hundred cases of mullerian adenosarcoma of the uterus were encountered in patients 14 to 89 years of age (median, 58 years), who usually had the symptom of abnormal vaginal bleeding. An enlarged uterus and tissue protruding from the external os were the most common findings on pelvic examination. Five patients presented on multiple occasions with "recurrent polyps" that were interpreted retrospectively as adenosarcomas. Primary treatment, known in 97 cases, included some form of hysterectomy in 93 of them, and conservative resection in four cases. Gross examination of the excised uteri dis

Background/Objectives: Uterine adenosarcoma is a rare uterine malignancy with limited evidence on prognostic factors and long-term outcomes. We aimed to evaluate clinicopathological characteristics, treatment patterns, oncologic outcomes, and prognostic factors associated with disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with uterine adenosarcoma. Methods: This multicenter retrospective cohort study included 43 patients with histopathologically confirmed uterine adenosarcoma who underwent primary surgery at seven tertiary referral centers in Türkiye between 2016 and 2026.

RATIONALE: Intramural adenosarcoma of the uterine myometrium is an uncommon gynecologic malignancy, often diagnosed postoperatively, and may arise from pre-existing benign lesions such as adenomyoma.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 46-year-old woman presented with irregular vaginal bleeding during the postmenstrual period for 3 months. She had a prior history of adenomyoma resection and breast cancer treated with tamoxifen.
DIAGNOSES: Pelvic ultrasonography suggested multiple uterine myomas. Histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses of the resected specimen confirmed low-grade malignant uterine

Currently, whole uterus and bilateral tubal resection and oophorectomy is the main treatment of cervical mullerian adenosarcoma. However, young patients generally wish to retain reproductive function. The clinical data of a patient with cervical mullerian adenosarcoma, who underwent fertility preservation surgery were collected. A 13-year-old girl with abnormal vaginal bleeding and a 1.0 cm flocculent echogenicity in the lower part of the uterine cavity to the cervical canal and a cervical mass of about 61 mm×37 mm was found in the pelvic MRI. After initial diagnosis of dysfunctional uterine b

Mullerian adenosarcoma is an uncommon biphasic malignant uterine tumor. It is composed of benign epithelial and malignant stromal elements. We present a case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with post-menopausal bleeding for three months. She had a significant past medical history of pelvic irradiation for squamous carcinoma of cervix 20 years ago. Pathology revealed adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth. The patient had a recurrence of pure sarcoma three months later and unfortunately succumbed to her disease. The role of radiation in the pathogenesis of adenosarcoma has been uncommonl

Embryonal rhabdomyosarcomas (ERMS) account for 2-3% of cancers in pediatric and adolescent populations. They are rarer in adults. We and others have reported that ERMS arising in the uterine cervix may harbor mutations in the gene encoding the microRNA biogenesis enzyme, DICER1, but a large series of cases has not been published. In the uterus, distinguishing ERMS from adenosarcoma can be very challenging, even for expert pathologists, and DICER1 alterations have been identified in a variable subset of uterine adenosarcomas. We hypothesized that DICER1 genetic testing may be useful in distingu

Toremifene is an anti-estrogen which has been shown to be effective in the treatment of breast cancer, and is thought to be a less uterotrophic agent than tamoxifen. The risk assessment concerning endometrial cancer has been inconclusive because of its rare use up to the mid-1990s. We report a case of an adenosarcoma, which is a very rare type of uterine malignancy, after toremifene treatment for 5 years in a breast cancer patient. After 1 year of toremifene use, the patient had a benign Mullerian adenofibroma. After an additional 4 years of toremifene treatment, the endometrial polypoid lesio

Müllerian adenosarcomas of the uterus usually present as pedunculated endometrial masses in postmenopausal women with vaginal bleeding. Extraendometrial variants (originating in the ovary, adnexa, or myometrium) are much less common, and they tend to present at a more advanced stage due to their location. The sarcomatous portion of müllerian adenosarcoma can vary from low grade to very high grade and the clinical behavior of the tumors can be indolent or aggressive. We present two cases, one of which originated in the adnexa and the other in an apparent focus of uterine adenomyosis. These case

PURPOSE: Uterine adenosarcomas (UAs) account for 5-8% of cases of uterine sarcomas. Treatment includes total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO). Fertility preservation is an emerging concept in gynaecology oncology and is particularly relevant in UA, where cases are diagnosed as young as 15-year-old. This manuscript demonstrates a case of UA which was treated conservatively, achieved successful livebirths and underwent completion hysterectomy after two decades of follow-up.
METHOD: This was a retrospective case note review.
RESULTS: An 18-year-old nullipar

BACKGROUND: Extra-uterine mullerian adenosarcomas have varying biological behaviours depending on the presence of endometriosis or sarcomatous overgrowth. These behaviours manifest according to the tumours' histological characteristics and sites of origin. The best treatment and oncologic outcome have not been clarified because only a few cases of extra-uterine and extra-ovarian adenosarcoma have been described in the literature. Here, we report a case of primary peritoneal adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth and review all reported cases of adenosarcomas arising outside of the uterus and

Persistent müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of male pseudohermaphroditism. Bilateral fallopian tubes and a uterus occur with an otherwise normal male phenotype. Testicular neoplasm in PMDS has been reported, but malignant degeneration of the remnant female genitalia has only once been reported. We present imaging, surgical specimen, and surgical pathology of the first documented case of uterine adenosarcoma of a müllerian remnant in a 14-year-old boy with PMDS presenting with gross hematuria and increasing abdominal protuberance. The child died of metastatic disease after surgical

Müllerian adenosarcoma of the uterus is a rare morphological variant of uterine sarcoma. Müllerian adenosarcoma has been described histologically, though it is rare in the cytological literature. This report describes the cytological findings of a case of adenosarcoma arising from the endometrium. The patient was a Japanese woman in her 40s. Endometrial cytological and histological findings were observed for 5 years, from the appearance of a polypoid lesion until adenosarcoma was suspected, and then hysterectomy was performed. Based on these longitudinal cytological and histological observatio

Uterine mullerian adenosarcoma (MA) is a rare biphasic tumour that accounts for less than 0.5% of uterine neoplasms. The age range of presentation is wide, with the median age in the 5th decade of life. It usually has a good prognosis; however, it worsens when it presents with sarcomatous overgrowth, heterologous elements or infiltrates the myometrium. We report the case of a 63-year-old woman presenting with abnormal vaginal bleeding and a sensation of solid material coming out of the cervical canal who was diagnosed with mullerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth (MASO) and presence

Uterine adenosarcoma coexisting with endometrial carcinoma is a very rare disease. Herein, we reported the case of uterine adenosarcoma coexisting with endometrioid endometrial carcinoma. Transvaginal ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging examinations all indicated a space-occupying lesion in the uterine cavity, and initially was considered endometrial carcinoma. Subsequently, total hysterectomy combined with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy, and para-aortic lymphadenectomy were performed. The coexistence of uterine adenosarcoma and endometrioid

BACKGROUND: Müllerian adenosarcoma is a biphasic neoplasm most commonly occurring in the uterus and less frequently of the ovary. It has been rarely described to occur in other sites such as peritoneum and liver.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this study, we report the clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical and molecular features of a primary Müllerian adenosarcoma of the urinary bladder in a 62-year-old woman. To our knowledge, this is the first report of detailed pathologic characterization of Müllerian adenosarcoma primary to the urinary bladder in the literature.
RESULTS: Light microscopy show

Mullerian adenosarcomas are rare mixed tumors of low malignant potential that occur mainly in the uterus and also in extrauterine locations. Microscopically, they may be difficult to distinguish from adenofibromas. In this clinicopathologic study of 55 adenosarcomas, the mean patient age was 50 years (range: 13 to 83 y). Thirty-seven tumors were of the uterine corpus, 11 of the cervix, 4 of the ovary, and 1 each of the fallopian tube, vagina, and Douglas peritoneum. Abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding were the usual complaints. Treatment was known in 50 patients: 10 had polypectomy, 1 cone bio

Although Müllerian adenosarcoma of the uterus shows weak malignant potential, there are still some factors indicating a worse prognosis. An incontinuous pelvic pain with urinary frequency, urgency, and hypouricemia arose in a mid-70s woman who refused to acknowledge the history of Tamoxifen use. A huge mass in the pelvis was found simultaneously by palpation, B-ultrasonography, and computed tomography. After a total hysterectomy was performed, a mass with a size of 10.5 cm × 8.5 cm × 8.5 cm was seen at the fundus of the uterus. The tumor consisted of a few benign epithelia and the majority of
