This study examines the mediating role of entrepreneurial social capital on the relationship between entrepreneurial mindfulness and entrepreneurial intentions, and how moral obligation enhances the indirect effect of mindfulness on such intentions through social capital. We draw on the notions of prosocial behavior and social capital to test our assertions with PLS-SEM. Our findings suggest that entrepreneurial social capital complements the relationship between entrepreneurial mindfulness and social entrepreneurial intentions and that moral obligation substantially enhances their indirect ef

Extreme poverty can be alleviated through entrepreneurship, but starting a business can be elusive among impoverished people, partly due to a lack of access to entrepreneurial opportunities. In the current literature, the source of entrepreneurial opportunity for the poor remains unclear. To address this knowledge gap, we used the opportunity co-creation perspective to examine the impact of opportunity co-creation on the entrepreneurial performance of the poor and its various influence pathways. We developed a chain multiple mediation model and surveyed 330 poor entrepreneurs from the Wuling M

As artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly penetrates education and entrepreneurial practice, cultivating students' entrepreneurial thinking in a "human-AI symbiotic" environment has become a crucial issue in entrepreneurship education. Based on symbiotic agency theory and triadic reciprocal determinism, this study constructs a theoretical model of "AI agency-human sense of agency-entrepreneurial thinking," using opportunity recognition and creativity as the core dimensions of entrepreneurial thinking to examine how AI agency is associated with college students' entrepreneurial cognition. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are widely acknowledged as key contributors to inclusive and sustainable development. However, their role as agents of social cohesion remains conceptually fragmented and insufficiently developed. This paper addresses this gap by proposing an integrated conceptual framework explaining how SMEs foster social cohesion through local embeddedness, employment practices, and stakeholder engagement. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from entrepreneurship, social capital, and corporate social responsibility, the study identifies key opportunities, including

Urban social entrepreneurs have been suggested to play an essential part in the success of local health promotion initiatives. Up to now, roles like these have only been identified in retrospect. This prospective collaborative study explored the possibilities of institutionalizing a comparable role for a 'health broker' in four Dutch municipalities as an additional investment to promote health in deprived neighbourhoods. The theoretical notions of public and policy entrepreneurs as well as of boundary spanners were adopted as a reference framework. Documents produced by the collaborative proje

Entrepreneurship research generally focuses more on the entrepreneurial outcomes of entrepreneurs and less on their entrepreneurial process. To a certain extent, well-being reflects how tired entrepreneurs are during entrepreneurship. Based on conservation of resources theory, this study proposes a double-edged sword model of the effect of entrepreneurial identity on subjective well-being, using the two-dimensional structure of work rumination as a mediator. This study also concentrates on the moderating role of entrepreneurial mindfulness. Multiple hierarchical regression methods are used to

We investigate how crowds evaluate pitches by entrepreneurs with versus without physical disabilities. Leveraging stereotype subtyping, we argue that entrepreneurs with physical disabilities are evaluated as a distinct subtype, rather than as people with disabilities or as conventional entrepreneurs. We hypothesize that benevolent ableism shapes how this subtype is evaluated, inflating both warmth and competence perceptions. Three experiments support our hypotheses, and key informant conversations with professional investors and entrepreneurs with disabilities corroborate the proposed mechanis

Though only five years old, employee-owned St. Luke's Communications has become one of the most talked about advertising agencies in the United Kingdom, winning numerous awards--though it doesn't enter contests--and increasing its profits eightfold. Chairman and cofounder Andy Law attributes the firm's success to its determination to continuously reinvent itself in a world populated by dot-coms and mega-ad agencies. St Luke's intends to revolutionize the way business is done and provide a credible alternative to the capitalism of both the old economy and the new. To that end, it pushes its peo

We argue that existing measures of entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) are underspecified in the context of tight-knit communities, where personal reputation plays a major role. We propose a new place-based ESE dimension that measures assessment by individuals of their ability to elicit respect from their community. This integral ESE component points to the very meaning of entrepreneurship in highly relational contexts. Although our enhanced ESE measure incorporates some influences of place, other aspects, such as geographical context, continue to moderate the relationship between ESE and entr

Although existing studies have acknowledged the impacts of Hofstede's cultural dimensions on the proactive behaviors of employees or innovations in various contexts, they have not examined the mediating role of proactive behavior between Hofstede's cultural dimensions and entrepreneurial innovativeness. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the mediating impact of proactive behavior between six of Hofstede's cultural dimensions and entrepreneurial innovativeness. Data were collected through standardized surveys from 150 retail entrepreneurs running businesses in China. SPSS and Wrap PLS SEM we

BACKGROUND: Youth unemployment is a pressing challenge in Ethiopia, and understanding the socio-psychological drivers of entrepreneurial intention is critical for policy design. However, most entrepreneurial intention research has been conducted in Western contexts, and the applicability of dominant models like the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to collectivist African settings remains undertheorized and empirically underexamined.
METHODS: This study investigates how psychological factors and gender shape entrepreneurial intentions among urban youth in Sidama, Ethiopia, using a TPB-informed

The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the brain is the master regulator of the circadian clocks throughout the human body. With increasing age the circadian clock in humans and other mammals becomes increasingly disorganized leading to a large number of more or less well-categorized problems. While a lot of aging research has focused on the peripheral clocks in tissues across organisms, it remains a paramount task to quantify aging of the most important master clock, the human SCN. Furthermore, a pipeline needs to be developed with therapies to mitigate the systemic cellular circadian dysfuncti

The author reports on the Kerala model for water sector development, broadly adopted as a role model for poverty reduction and build up of social capital. It is a community based organisation with its focus on facilitating a stable income to the poor, and composed of a People's Plan Campaign, the Kudumbashree (women-based poverty eradication programme), with grassroot level neighbourhood groups, federated into an area development society. It promotes savings and credit channelling, capacity building and entrepreneurship development. Activities include awareness raising on water conservation an

OBJECTIVE: To present older presbyopic Zanzibari craftswomen's firsthand experiences with the eyeglasses, the challenges they face in advancing their businesses and proposed solutions to these challenges.
DESIGN: This participatory action research used solicited diaries, where 10 craftswomen documented their experiences with presbyopia correction for 6 months. The diaries were translated into English for qualitative content analysis. Researchers then held a 2-day listening workshop with 20 craftswomen to discuss the diary findings and gather their perspectives on challenges and solutions. The

BACKGROUND: Strategies to expand access to care and sustain evidence-based mental health interventions (EBIs) must be tested within novel delivery platforms to extend the reach of services in fragile and conflict-affected settings. Integration into broader development programs may help maintain long-term effects. This study presents a four-year follow-up of a previously conducted Hybrid Type II implementation-effectiveness cluster-randomized trial (CRT) of the Youth Readiness Intervention (YRI)-an EBI drawing on cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and mindfulness-based approaches-delivered wi

BACKGROUND: Large pharmaceutical companies are evolving their innovation strategies, moving from closed R&D models towards open, collaborative ecosystems. Innovation labs have emerged as key organizational infrastructures in this shift, designed to accelerate the development, validation and adoption of new healthcare solutions. However, a systematic understanding of industry-led innovation labs remains limited.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to comprehensively characterize the structure, strategic focus, activities and outputs of innovation labs promoted by major pharmaceutical companies, and to
