INTRODUCTION: Ménétrier disease (MD) is rare that is involved in both the small bowel and entire colon.
THE MAIN SYMPTOMS AND THE IMPORTANT CLINICAL FINDINGS: We describe a case of a 76-year-old male patient whose clinical presentations include intermittent diarrhea, epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, asitia, and weight loss. An endoscopy was performed showing a large number of irregular forms and different sizes of polypoid lesions in the gastrointestinal tract, which is rare for MD.

OBJECTIVE: To develop a statistical (regression) analysis of quantitative patterns of human epithelial nuclear and cellular profiles from chronic atrophic and hypertrophic gastritis, excluding Menetrier's gastropathy.
STUDY DESIGN: The study group consisted of 30 patients with chronic gastritis with or without intestinal metaplasia, including gastric dysplasia. The control group consisted of 25 patients with relatively normal mucosae. Both groups were compared with respect to changes in quantitative morphometric variables as well as nuclear DNA quantities.

Over the past six years, three patients presenting ectopic pancreas with a gastric location are subjected to treatment in the surgical clinic. In all three cases the ectopic glandular tissue is located submucously within the antrum. The clinical picture is diverse and not characteristic. Bleeding from the digestive tract is noted as a complication. The incidence, pathogenesis, pathoanatomy, clinical course, diagnosis and treatment of this relatively rare condition are discussed against the background of a comprehensive literature survey.

BACKGROUND: Beta-microseminoprotein is a 94-kDa protein present on most mucosal surfaces in the body. It is produced in mucin cells but is also found in a particular type of cells (E-cells) in the gastric antral mucosa. Most of these cells also contain gastrin. In atrophic corpus gastritis the gastrin-producing cells become hyperplastic, and the patients have hypergastrinemia. Four cases of childhood Menetrier's disease are presented and their clinical and laboratory findings are compared with the other childhood cases reported in the literature. Ménétrier's disease (MD) is a rare disease of the stomach, characterised by hypertrophic gastric folds leading to protein loss. The association with ulcerative colitis (UC) is rare but has been reported in the literature. We report the case of 3 years and 2 months old boy who presented vomiting associated with eyelid edema of recent onset. The paraclinical exploration has allowed us to establish the diagnosis of benign hypertrophic gastritis or Ménétrier's disease. The interest in this case resides in his rare appearance, benignity and transience, during the childhood, contrasted with the adult where chronic form and a risk of cancer predominates.

Ten carcinomas of the gastric stump reconstructed by Billroth I (one case) and Billroth II (9 cases) methods were treated an average of 20 (range: 7-46) years after partial gastrectomy. Because of highly advanced carcinoma, total gastrectomy with resection of invaded organs was performed. OBJECTIVE: To describe a patient with early gastric cancer, Menetrier's disease, lymphocytic gastritis and Helicobacter pylori infection.
DESIGN: A single patient case report.
PATIENT: A 73-year-old man presenting with lower limb deep venous thrombosis was found to have a gastric adenocarcinoma on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. He subsequently had a total gastrectomy.
RESULTS: Histological examination of the resected stomach showed an early gastric cancer and changes typical of Menetrier's disease, lymphocytic gastritis and Helicobacter-associated chronic gastritis.

Helicobacter pylori (HP) has been associated with neuroendocrine tumors of the stomach and duodenum. Gastric enterochromaffin-like (ECL) cell tumors and duodenal gastrinomas have also been associated with HP gastritis in separate series but have not been reported together. With other possible causes excluded, we present a patient with HP-associated atrophy of the oxyntic mucosa that ultimately resulted in stimulation and reactive hyperplasia of gastrin-producing cells in both the antrum and proximal duodenum, the latter progressing to formation of a gastrin-producing cell nodule (gastrinoma).

The case is described of a 39 year old man referred for clinical treatment of widespread oedema in the lower half of the body, especially the lower extremities. He was suffering from a gastroenteric protein malabsorption syndrome caused by syphilitic hypertrophic gastritis (tertiary syphilis). The syphilitic origin of the gastropathy was confirmed ex iuvantibus by penicillin treatment which cured the condition completely. The various forms of gastric lues, gastrointestinal malabsorption syndromes and ex iuvantibus criteria are discussed.
