Psychological distress in cancer patients is a frequent and complex condition that significantly compromises quality of life, from diagnosis to palliative care. In this context, the use of music emerges as a promising, safe, and low-cost complementary practice capable of alleviating symptoms such as emotional distress. However, there are still gaps in the literature regarding the types, contexts, and specific effects of musical interventions in cancer patients. Thus, this protocol proposes a scoping review to map the available scientific evidence on the use of music as an intervention for the

This narrative review explores the evolving role of linkage facilitation (LF) in supporting persons with opioid use disorder (OUD) including both the organizational strategies to initiate and sustain LF services and strategies to support the LF workforce. Drawing on expert consensus and iterative review by an interdisciplinary author team, we synthesized relevant literature from diverse fields using a narrative review approach. Organizational strategies include: ensure leadership support, engage community partners and tailor services, consult with those already delivering LF services, provide

BACKGROUND: Emergency obstetric and neonatal care (EmONC) provides a framework to assess the capacity of health systems and mitigate maternal mortality. Given the high unmet need for contraception, integrating contraception provision and EmONC services could improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.
OBJECTIVES: This scoping review aimed to examine the integration of contraceptive and EmONC services and identify opportunities for future work in this space.
METHOD: A comprehensive search strategy was developed with sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) experts and librarians incorpo

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this review was to map evidence of integrating pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention into family planning services. A comprehensive package, using a combination of PrEP and contraceptive delivery, could reduce the number of new HIV infections and/or unintended pregnancies for at-risk women and adolescent girls.
METHODS: A scoping literature search was conducted between August 2020 and October 2020. After developing the review question, electronic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, Global Health, Web of Science) were systematically reviewed. All

This case study discusses two federal grant initiatives and the evaluation technical assistance (ETA) provided to the grantees. One program is a multiphase program funded by the Children's Bureau (CB) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. The program funded communities interested in preventing homelessness among youth and young adults with child welfare histories. The funder, grantees, and ETA provider call it Youth At-Risk of Homelessness (YARH). Six federal agencies-the U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and

Concerns from the worldwide ageing population and evidence of poor-quality aged care services have highlighted the need to develop innovative models of aged care which are acceptable to older people, economically sustainable and are safe. Reablement is a relatively new model for aged care that aims to support older people's desires to age independently in their usual place of residence and decrease dependency on aged care services. This qualitative evidence synthesis aimed to explore the experiences of older people and their carers (formal and informal) towards a reablement model of community

BACKGROUND: Games are a promising way to make health sciences education more engaging and improve synthesis for learners. There have been some successful implementations of game-based learning for health sciences library instruction [1], but there is room for development of games tailored specifically for teaching database searching skills to health sciences students.
CASE PRESENTATION: The authors developed a biomedical edition of the existing library instruction card game Search&Destroy. The original Search&Destroy was developed as an alternative way to teach a one-shot instructional sessio

The integration of psychiatric treatment into emergency services is critical to improving the management of severe mental health emergencies. Emergency departments (EDs) are frequently the initial point of contact for patients with mental emergencies, but they are not always prepared to offer adequate care. This systematic review aims to analyze the effectiveness of collaborative care models (CCMs), psychiatric consultation-liaison (C-L) teams, and telepsychiatry in enhancing psychiatric treatment in emergencies. We searched numerous databases, including PubMed, PsycINFO, EMBASE, and the Cochr

BACKGROUND: Mathematical modelling has been a vital research tool for exploring complex systems, most recently to aid understanding of health system functioning and optimisation. System dynamics models (SDM) and agent-based models (ABM) are two popular complementary methods, used to simulate macro- and micro-level health system behaviour. This systematic review aims to collate, compare and summarise the application of both methods in this field and to identify common healthcare settings and problems that have been modelled using SDM and ABM.
METHODS: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Libr

In the 1970s, the India Office Archive within the British Library began inviting the last generation of the Indian Civil Service and Indian Political Service to commit their experiences to written record. Running until the mid-1980s and eventually producing 135 manuscript memoirs, this archive offers a unique insight into the end of the British Empire, as seen a generation hence. This article argues that these memoirs, generated in a time of crisis and fracture within British national identity, are not only vital historical sources but are a significant body of creative work within the context

BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus (DM), both type 1 (T1DM) and type 2 (T2DM), complicates about 1% of pregnancies in the US. Current research frequently focuses on the effects of DM on pregnancy outcomes, overlooking the opportunity to examine a woman's health prior to pregnancy despite the significance of pre-conception health on pregnancy outcomes.
METHODS: Recognizing the importance of a woman's overall health, and not just the period in which a woman is pregnant, we set out to explore whether women with DM received recommended preventive health services at the same rates as women without DM.

INTRODUCTION: The use of telemedicine in orthopaedics can provide high-quality orthopaedic services to patients in remote areas. Tele-orthopaedics is widely acknowledged for decreasing travel, time and cost, increasing accessibility and quality of care. In the absence of a comprehensive review on tele-orthopaedics applications and services, here, we systematically identify and classify the tele-orthopaedic applications and services, and provide an overview of the trends in the field.
