Citrus sinensis and Lippia alba are herbal medicines widely used in the form of tea (infusion, decoction), which ethanolic extracts have already shown great anticoagulant activity in vitro . For this reason, they seem to be excellent candidates for the development of new antithrombotics and also have the potential to interact with them. The aim of this study was to evaluate the activity of aqueous extracts in blood coagulation and platelet aggregation, in addition to analysing the micromolecular composition of these species. BACKGROUND: One of the most efficient ways to prevent arboviruses, such as dengue fever, yellow fever, chikungunya and Zika, is by controlling their vector, the Aedes aegypti. Because this vector is becoming resistant to most larvicides used, the development of new larvicides should be considered. β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) complexes have been investigated as an interesting way of enabling the use of essential oils in water as larvicides. This study comprised the development of Lippia gracilis essential oil (LGEO) and β-CD inclusion complexes for control of Ae. aegypti.

Bacteria inhabiting the gut of insects provide many benefits to their hosts, such as aiding in food digestion, reproduction, and immunity, tissue homeostasis, adaptation to environment and resistance to pathogen and pesticides. The cowpea beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus, is a serious cosmopolitan pest of pulses. This beetle has lent itself as a guinea pig for several ecological studies. It harbors a consortium of bacterial communities in its gut, but the evidence for their role in its physiology is fragmentary. In this work, we hypothesized that gut microbiota mediates C. maculatus resistance

Lippia alba is an aromatic plant whose essential oils (EOs) have been characterized as promising antimicrobial agents. It has been established that L. alba chemotypes are influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. We evaluated the EO yield, composition, and antimicrobial activity of 20 genotypes from a sympatric genetically diverse population of L. alba. These analyses were performed over two seasonal periods, during which climate data were collected and leaf nutrients assessed. EO yield was highest on average during summer, although genotype-specific patterns were observed. Gas chr
