Hepatic complications of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy with Lutetium-177 and Yttrium-90 in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasm.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are a heterogeneous group of tumors originating from neuroendocrine cells spread throughout the body, forming the so-called diffuse endocrine system. The gold standard in treating unresectable or disseminated, progressive, and well-differentiated NENs is therapy with radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (peptide receptor radionuclide therapy - PRRT). PRRT is a method based on peptides combined with beta-emitting radionuclides. The study aimed to assess the early and long-term liver complications after administration of Lutetium-177 or Lutetium-177 combined with Ytt

Are radiopharmaceuticals self-sterilizing? Radiation effect of gallium-68 and lutetium-177 on bacillus pumilus and staphylococcus succinus.

BACKGROUND: For radiopharmaceuticals, aseptic preparation in combination with filtration is the most commonly used sterilizing method. In general, the production of radiopharmaceuticals needs to fulfil the requirements of good manufacturing practice. In the scope of this work, we focused on the positron emitter gallium-68 and on the therapeutically used beta- and gamma-emitter lutetium-177, as they are routinely used for in-house synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine departments. Our hypothesis is, that radiopharmaceuticals might be self-sterilizing due to a high radioactivity

Lutetium-177 Labelled Anti-PSMA Monoclonal Antibody (Lu-TLX591) Therapy for Metastatic Prostate Cancer: Treatment Toxicity and Outcomes.

INTRODUCTION: Whilst prostate cancer is the fourth most common cancer globally, effective therapies for patients with advanced disease are lacking. In recent years, interest in using theranostic agents to treat castrate-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and metastatic prostate cancer has emerged. Lu-TLX591 monoclonal antibody is a potential agent of significance; however, to date, reports on its toxicity and efficacy have been limited to small clinical trials in heavily pretreated patients. This retrospective study describes the real-world toxicity and efficacy profile of Lu-TLX591. METHODS: E

Lutetium-Induced Ultrafine PtRu Nanoclusters with a High Electrochemical Surface Area for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells at Alleviated Temperatures.

PtRu alloys have been recognized as the state-of-the-art catalysts for the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). However, their applications in DMFCs are still less efficient in terms of both catalytic activity and durability. Rare earth (RE) metals have been recognized as attractive elements to tune the catalytic activity, while it is still a world-class challenge to synthesize well-dispersed Pt-RE alloys. Herein, we developed a novel hydrogen-assisted magnesiothermic reduction strategy to prepare a highly dispersed carbon-supported lutetium-doped PtRu catal

Electron Trap Depths in Cubic Lutetium Oxide Doped with Pr and Ti, Zr or Hf─From Ab Initio Multiconfigurational Calculations.

We propose a universal approach to model intervalence charge transfer (IVCT) and metal-to-metal charge transfer (MMCT) transitions between ions in solids. The approach relies on already well-known and reliable ab initio RASSCF/CASPT2/RASSI-SO calculations for a series of emission center coordination geometries (restricted active space self-consistent field, complete active space second-order perturbation theory, and restricted active space state interaction with spin-orbit coupling). Embedding with ab initio model potentials (AIMPs) is used to represent the crystal lattice. We propose a way to

Radiochemistry and comparative in vitro assessment of PSMA-617 labeled with lead-212 (212Pb), actinium-225 (225Ac), and lutetium-177 (177Lu).

BACKGROUND: PSMA-targeted radioligand therapy is a promising approach for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer; however, the clinical efficacy of [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 (Pluvicto®) is limited by the relatively low cytotoxic potency of the β-emitting radionuclide 177Lu (t1/2: 6.65 d). This has driven high interest in α-emitting radionuclides, such as 212Pb (t1/2: 10.64 h) and 225Ac (t1/2: 9.92 d), which deliver high Linear Energy Transfer (LET) and cause more potent tumor cell killing. In this work, we assessed the radiolabeling and in vitro characteristics of 212Pb- and 225Ac-labeled PSMA-617

Updated results of a phase I trial of motexafin lutetium-mediated interstitial photodynamic therapy in patients with locally recurrent prostate cancer.

Locally recurrent prostate cancer after treatment with radiation therapy is a clinical problem with few acceptable treatments. One potential treatment, photodynamic therapy (PDT), is a modality that uses laser light, drug photosensitizer, and oxygen to kill tumor cells through direct cellular cytotoxicity and/or through destruction of tumor vasculature. A Phase I trial of interstitial PDT with the photosensitizer Motexafin lutetium was initiated in men with locally recurrent prostate cancer. In this ongoing trial, the primary objective is to determine the maximally tolerated dose of Motexafin
