Food insecurity vulnerability among domestic migrants across Cambodian provinces: a multilevel analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Food insecurity affects over half of Cambodia's population, yet despite national efforts to improve equitable access to food, little is known about how migration patterns and provincial contexts shape this vulnerability. This study examines provincial variation in food insecurity in Cambodia, its association with domestic migration patterns, modification by household-head gender and the role of provincial-level contextual factors. METHODS: This cross-sectional study used data from 5166 adults aged 18 and older from the 2023 World Health Survey Plus Cambodia, linked with provinci

Area-level poverty and preterm birth risk: a population-based multilevel analysis.

BACKGROUND: Preterm birth is a complex disease with etiologic influences from a variety of social, environmental, hormonal, genetic, and other factors. The purpose of this study was to utilize a large population-based birth registry to estimate the independent effect of county-level poverty on preterm birth risk. To accomplish this, we used a multilevel logistic regression approach to account for multiple co-existent individual-level variables and county-level poverty rate. METHODS: Population-based study utilizing Missouri's birth certificate database (1989-1997). We conducted a multilevel l

A multilevel linguistic analysis reveals linguistic impairments in persons with multiple sclerosis.

BACKGROUND: Multiple sclerosis results in sensorimotor and cognitive deficits. Previous studies have provided limited evidence of linguistic deficits, largely due to a lack of comprehensive assessments. This study addressed this gap by applying a Multilevel procedure of Linguistic Analysis (MLA) of discourse production in persons with MS (PwMS). METHODS: 20 PwMS and 20 healthy controls, matched for age, education and sex, were administered tasks assessing cognitive skills and narrative discourse production abilities. The speech samples were analyzed using the MLA to assess both micro- and mac

Determinants of spousal physical violence against women in Zambia: a multilevel analysis.

BACKGROUND: Violence against women and girls is a major public health issue, a violation of human rights, and is linked to a number of harmful effects on one's physical, mental, sexual, and reproductive health. Studies conducted in other parts of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) suggest that there is an association between contextual factors and experience of intimate partner violence. However, in Zambia, this association is not well documented. Thus, this study was conducted to examine how individual and community-level characteristics influence spousal violence against women in Zambia. METHODS: Dat

Maintaining Safety in the Prison Environment: A Multilevel Analysis of Inmate Victimisation in Assaults.

Theoretical models of victimisation emphasise the importance of context. However, few studies have assessed the influence of prison environmental variables on inmate harm in physical assaults. This study used a multilevel model approach to examine individual- and facility-level factors associated with the incidence of assaults among inmates housed at correctional centres in New South Wales, Australia. Results supported proposals that institutional routines and conditions may have an influence on risk. Inmates, who spent less time in employment, were placed in special housing arrangements such

Spatial distribution of stillbirth and associated factors in Ethiopia: a spatial and multilevel analysis.

OBJECTIVE: Although the rate of stillbirth has decreased globally, it remains unacceptably high in developing countries. Today, only 10 countries share the burden of more than 65% of the global rate of stillbirth and these include Ethiopia. Ethiopia ranks seventh in terms of high rate of stillbirths. Exploring the spatial distribution of stillbirth is critical to developing successful interventions and monitoring public health programmes. However, there is no study on the spatial distribution and the associated factors of stillbirth in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the spati
