Intergeneration transfer of diet patterns? Parental self-report of diet and their report of their young adult children with ASD.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects two percent of American children and often results in neophobia, hypersensitivity to foods, and firmly set food preferences, leading to higher proportions of individuals suffering from diet-related chronic diseases. Our objective was to conduct an explorative pilot study to examine parents' perception of food intake for themselves and their young adult children with ASD. We employed comparative analysis to discover potential pathways to improve diet quality and lower the risk for chronic disease in individuals with ASD. Data from an online survey in n = 4

Accuracy of virtual mounting at centric relation using personalized 3D-printed transfer key: a clinical in vivo study.

AIM: Previously, we developed a 3D-printed customized transfer key for virtual mounting of the face and maxillomandibular relationship at centric occlusion. The accuracy was evaluated in vitro using a phantom head model with simulated soft tissue. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the effect of the transfer key in humans with clinical situations. METHODS: In the cross-sectional study, twenty volunteers with class I Angle occlusion were clinically registered for centric relation using a personal 3D-printed transfer key. The facial and intraoral (IOS) scans were recorded and integra

Evolving base of support associated multicontact stability analysis reveals distinct sit-to-stand motor control pattern in stroke survivors.

Sit-to-stand (STS) transition is a prerequisite for independent mobility and a primary benchmark for post-stroke functional recovery. However, conventional event-based measures fail to continuously resolve weight transfer, and the classical Extrapolated center of mass (XcoM) and margin of stability (MoS) framework cannot represent evolving multicontact support, vertical acceleration dynamics, or whole-body angular momentum, thereby obscuring phase-specific motor control strategies. To address this problem, we proposed a continuous biomechanical framework for analyzing multicontact STS dynamics

Continuous wavelet based transfer function analysis of cerebral autoregulation dynamics for neuromonitoring using near-infrared spectroscopy.

INTRODUCTION: Near-infrared spectroscopy is now a popular method in neuromonitoring. Derived parameters like cerebral oxygenation index or Fast Fourier Transform based coherence estimates between blood pressure and cerebral blood flow have their limitations of use for stationary data and low time resolution. Wavelet transfer function analysis can be employed to estimate coherence, gain and phase relationship between two signals without these restrictions. METHODS: We aimed to extend the previously described Grinsted wavelet package with rectified bias of power and transfer function gain estim

Diagnostic agreement between a primary care physician and a teledermatologist for common dermatological conditions in North India.

BACKGROUND: Primary care physicians (PCPs) encounter a large number of patients with dermatological diseases. However, delivering appropriate management is a challenge considering the inadequate dermatology training offered during the undergraduate medical curriculum. Teledermatology is the clinical evaluation of skin lesions by dermatologists and allows patients to be diagnosed and treated from a distant site. It is seen as a potential solution to the shortage of specialists and providing equitable service in remote areas. AIM: The study was aimed at estimating the diagnostic agreement of co

Sandwiched naphthyl carbazole: Inversion Circularly Polarized Luminescence based on a pull-push electron valve strategy.

Inspired by circularly polarized luminescence (CPL), artificial CPL assembly has attracted intense attention. However, precise manipulation of chiral transfer from achiral and luminescent materials remains a formidable challenge. Two sandwiched carbazole and binaphthol derivatives composed of pyridine or trifluoride methyl benzene have been synthesized. Among R-1 and R-2, their spectra were found in the violet region, both in the solution and the film state. They exhibit the photoluminescence dissymmetry factors up to 1.4 × 10-3 for R-2 and an opposite value of -5.6 × 10-4 for R-1. Theoretical

Practical applicability of the STAMCO and ChOLE classification in cholesteatoma care.

BACKGROUND: To compare cholesteatoma care internationally and to evaluate outcomes, ear surgeons must use the same terminology. However, a clear universal definition on how to describe the extension, destruction and accompanying morbidity caused by the cholesteatoma is lacking. The practical applicability by means of interrater agreement is assessed for the STAMCO and the ChOLE classification. METHODS: A total of 134 adult patients derived from the nationwide multicentre study in the Netherlands, entitled Dutch Cholesteatoma Data (DCD) were included. Retrospective analysis of 134 surgical rep

"One Can Have All Sorts of Good Intentions but Sometimes in Everyday Life, It Turns Out Differently": Change Agreements in Couples' Everyday Lives.

Online couple interventions are increasingly used to support couples experiencing relationship distress. However, little is known about how couples integrate intervention elements into their everyday lives. This longitudinal qualitative study examined how distressed parenting couples integrate change agreements developed in the online OurRelationship program. Six couples (12 participants) were included in the study. Data consisted of one coach session, as well as two rounds of individual interviews conducted 3-6 weeks and 6-7 months after program completion. Using longitudinal interpretative p

Artificial neural network prediction of nonlinear radiative heat transfer and entropy generation in tangent hyperbolic tetra hybrid nanofluid flow over a porous wedge.

An artificial neural network (ANN)-based surrogate modelling approach for forecasting entropy production and heat transfer properties in a tetra-hybrid tangent-hyperbolic nanofluid flow over expanding and contracting wedge surfaces under nonlinear thermal radiation is presented in this work. The generated numerical data are subsequently employed to develop an ANN surrogate model for the rapid prediction of the skin-friction coefficient and local Nusselt number. Numerical analysis demonstrates that increasing the wedge index reduces free-stream acceleration and, in turn, the velocity and temper

Investigating the Influence of Electronic Effects of Functional Groups on the Fluorescence Mechanism of Probes in Water Samples.

This study investigates the fluorescence quenching mechanism of formaldehyde detection probe Naph1 and its contrast probe Naph3 in water samples and discussed the effect of the electron-donating group and electron-withdrawing group on fluorescence characteristics based on density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT). We optimized the structures of the four probes Naph1, Naph1-S, Naph3, and Naph3-S (Scheme 1) and calculated the absorption and emission spectra, which were in good agreement with the experiment. Frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) were used

Numerical investigation of thermal soak within engine bay using lattice Boltzmann method.

A large amount of heat accumulates in the engine bay for a short time after the engine runs at high load and shuts down, that will lead to thermal damage and thermal fatigue caused by the temperature rise of some heat sensitive components. This paper uses an aero-thermal coupling approach to study the heat transfer problem in the engine bay of an SUV model under thermal soak conditions. Due to the transient characteristics of the heat transfer process, the natural transient CFD software developed based on the LBM method is used to study the engine bay heat transfer during the 400 s key-off soa

Detection of BRAF mutation in metastatic melanoma utilizing cell-transferred cytological smears.

OBJECTIVES: Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is frequently used to diagnose metastatic melanoma. In this study, we validated the use of cell-transferred cytological smears for BRAF molecular testing. STUDY DESIGN: We conducted a search of our laboratory information system for the period 2011-2013 in order to identify surgical pathology cases of either primary or metastatic melanomas in which BRAF mutation analyses had already been performed. Thirty FNA cases with diagnoses of metastatic melanoma from the same patients were identified. Direct smears from each FNA case were selected for mutation an

Numerical and Experimental Investigation of the Conjugate Heat Transfer for a High-Pressure Pneumatic Control Valve Assembly.

This paper uses heat transfer experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to investigate the conjugate heat transfer (CHT) in a high-pressure pneumatic control valve assembly. A heat transfer test rig was constructed, and time-temperature histories of five test points placed on the valve assembly's outer surface were recorded for study validation. The Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS) CFD methods with the standard k-ε turbulence closure equations were adopted in the numerical computations. Polyhedral grids were used; time step and mesh convergence studies were

The ionization of aqueous indole at low excitation energies.

The relaxation of indole after excitation at 267 nm (4.6 eV) in water and methanol solutions has been explored by fs time-resolved experiments and the observations have been rationalized using quantum dynamical calculations on the excited states of solvated water and methanol clusters. The research explores the autoionization channel, which in parallel to the neutral relaxation route leads, only in aqueous environments, to the formation of the fully solvated cations and electrons. The pump-probe and pump-repump-probe measurements identify a charge-transfer character state, formed simultaneousl

Experimental evaluation of a model for oxygen exchange in a pulsating intravascular artificial lung.

Intravascular oxygenation and carbon dioxide removal remains a potentially attractive means for respiratory support in patients with acute or chronic respiratory failure. Our group has been developing an intravascular hollow fiber artificial lung that uses a pulsating balloon located within the fiber bundle to augment gas transfer. We previously reported on a simple compartmental model for simulating O2 exchange in pulsating intravascular artificial lungs. In this study we evaluate the O2 exchange model with gas exchange and PO2 measurements performed on an idealized intravascular artificial l
