A Revised Public Health Emergency Preparedness Logic Model Reflecting the European Experience in the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In 2017, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control developed a public health emergency preparedness logic model for European Union, differentiating between capacities (resources and infrastructure) and response capabilities (actions during emergencies). Analysis of the COVID-19 experience suggests that the main features of this logic model, including the 5 high-level categories of capabilities, remain valid. Some changes are needed, however, in 3 areas. In the detection and assessment area, "laboratory analysis" was integrated with "testing" to better represent their combined role

On-premise medical AI agents for reliable clinical decision-making.

Autonomous clinical artificial intelligence (AI) agents powered by large language models (LLMs), meaning systems that can complete a diagnostic workflow without continuous human input, are increasingly capable of supporting complex reasoning and decision-making. Clinical translation, however, remains limited by two unmet requirements: institutionally governed deployment and reliable decision-time uncertainty estimation. Here we developed and evaluated a fully on-premise clinical agent that couples local operational control with a multi-perspective reliability framework to support selective aut

Continuing Professional Development in the Artificial Intelligence Era.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping clinical work in ways that unsettle the foundational assumptions of continuing professional development (CPD). Existing CPD frameworks-Kirkpatrick, Miller, Moore, and the Five Domains-presume that clinicians are the primary generators of knowledge, the center of agency, and the drivers of performance and outcomes. AI disrupts this logic. Systems that draft clinical reasoning, modulate workflows, and influence decision pathways no longer function as passive tools but as active contributors to clinical judgment. As agency becomes distributed across human

New neurons flatten social hierarchies.

As complex individualized behaviors in mice arise even when genes and environment are held constant, emerging social group structures should also depend on individual behavior. Adult hippocampal neurogenesis drives individual behavior and is involved in certain social behaviors. Would thus the emergence of social structure depend on adult-born neurons? To answer this question, we co-housed cohorts of female mice with intact and genetically diminished general adult neurogenesis in a large-scale automated tracking system for three months and analyzed the development of social behaviors over time

Mechano-Organ-on-Chip for Cancer Research.

Mechano-Organ-on-Chip (Mechano-OoC) platforms are emerging as powerful microphysiological systems that place mechanical cues at the center of tumor modeling, providing a scalable and human-relevant approach to recapitulate the biophysical complexity of the tumor microenvironment. Mechanical factors such as matrix stiffness, viscoelasticity, solid stress, interstitial flow, confinement, and shear critically regulate cancer progression, metastasis, immune interactions, and treatment response, yet remain poorly captured by conventional in vitro models and are often studied separately in tumor-on-

Activatable nanoflytrap achieves synergistic "Capture-Block-Regulate" therapy of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains one of the most refractory malignancies because of its dense stromal barrier and hypoxic microenvironment. Inspired by the Venus flytrap, we engineered an intelligent nanoflytrap (NT) system that performs a coordinated three stage therapeutic strategy of capture, block, and regulate for precise and sequential treatment. In the capture stage, the CGKRK containing tumor homing peptide enables dual recognition of p32 receptors that are overexpressed on tumor vasculature and PDAC cells, ensuring selective accumulation within the tumor microenvironmen

Cascaded Energy Transfer in Supramolecular Assemblies Enables Amplified and Photoswitchable Circularly Polarized Luminescence.

Photoresponsive circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials are promising for optical information processing and anti-counterfeiting. However, integrating high luminescence dissymmetry factor (glum) with high-contrast reversible switching within a single system remains a significant challenge. In this study, we present a supramolecular CPL nanoplatform that combines hierarchical chirality amplification with light-gated cascaded Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET). Selective host-guest recognition between a TPE-functionalized chiral pillar[5]arene (TPEP5) and a polymeric guest forms

Ionic Landscape Engineering via Perovskite Quantum Dots for Reliable and Energy-Efficient Perovskite Memristors.

The rapid growth of data-intensive artificial intelligence workloads has exposed data movement in conventional von Neumann architectures as a critical bottleneck to both enhanced energy efficiency and reduced latency. Among the materials investigated for resistive random-access memory, halide perovskites have garnered extensive attention owing to their tunable electronic properties and low-power operation, making them suitable for high-density memory applications. Although all-inorganic CsPbI3 offers high thermal stability, its reliability is compromised by mobile iodide vacancies causing stoc

CODNet models enable real-time assessment of colorectal cancer organoids and uncover the integral role of LTBP2 in the diffuse organoid subtype.

To achieve precise classification of colorectal cancer (CRC) at the patient-derived organoids (PDOs) level, we constructed a real-time CRC PDO assessment system through artificial intelligence (AI) assisted model using an optimized object detection algorithm. We constructed the CODNetV1 model for the identification, feature extraction and drug sensitivity detection of CRC PDOs (mAP of 88.05%). And we optimized CODNetV2 to classify four morphological subtypes of CRC PDOs (mAP of 85.65%). CODNetV1 and CODNetV2 achieved real-time, automated, multi-parameter detection of CRC PDOs, directly facilit
