Biomimetic Gradient Porous Core-Shell Fibers with Enhanced Gas Sensing for CO-Temperature Dual-Mode Early Fire Warning.

Early fire detection systems that are highly sensitive are essential for reducing the impact of fire disasters. However, their development still faces significant challenges due to the lack of capability for simultaneous monitoring of both temperature and gas. Herein, we propose a facile coaxial wet-spinning strategy to fabricate a dual-parameter fiber sensor capable of simultaneously detecting carbon monoxide (CO) and temperature for early combustion warning. The resulting core-sheath structured fiber consists of a CO sensing sheath made of SnO2/In2O3 heterojunction/aramid nanofiber (ANF)/sil

Modulation of walnut meal protein functionalities through low-temperature subcritical defatting: Insights into aggregation behavior and structural changes.

This study compared walnut meal protein (WMP) obtained from walnut meal defatted using low-temperature subcritical butane extraction (SBE-WMP) with that obtained from walnut meal produced by traditional high-temperature pressing (HP-WMP) to elucidate the effects of defatting methods on the structural and functional properties of WMP. Compared with HP-WMP, SBE-WMP exhibited a more ordered molecular conformation, with reduced oxidation and aggregation. These structural characteristics were accompanied by a smaller mean particle size (7.25 vs. 147.50 μm), higher solubility (66.93% vs. 51.88%) and

Mannitol-based passive thermal runaway suppressing phase-change materials for thermal safety protection in high-temperature, sealed environments.

Due to their extremely high energy density and storage life of more than ten years, specialized lithium/thionyl chloride batteries offer irreplaceable value in demanding operating environments such as downhole oil well instruments, deep-sea equipment, and other enclosed high-temperature operational equipment. However, stresses such as high temperature, high pressure, and physical impact in such confined environments can easily trigger a chain reaction of internal chemical side reactions in the battery, leading to thermal runaway and posing a serious threat to equipment safety. To address these

Molecular Dynamics Study on Solution Transport Properties in CSH/SiO2 Nanochannels Under High-Temperature and Water-Rich Environments.

This study employs molecular dynamics simulations to construct a CSH/SiO2 nanochannel model, systematically investigating the dynamic transport behavior of pure water and Na2SO4 solution within the pores across temperatures ranging from 293 K to 368 K. The results elucidate the fluid intrusion mechanism under the combined effects of elevated temperature and sulfate ions. Results show that: (i) Water migration within the CSH/SiO2 channel exhibits wall-dependent differences. The interaction between water and the CSH surface is approximately eight times stronger than with the SiO2 side at 293 K,

Diel temperature fluctuations alter molecular, biochemical, and whole-animal responses to thermal stress and hypoxia in adult zebrafish.

Aquatic ecosystems naturally experience temperature fluctuations, which are often accompanied by shifts in dissolved oxygen. However, climate change has exacerbated the prevalence and magnitude of these fluctuations, often leaving organisms exposed to sub-optimal conditions. As a result of their inherent relationship, these abiotic factors are thought to share common signalling pathways (cross-talk) and protective mechanisms (cross-tolerance) that confer cross-protection. Much of what we currently understand about the effect of temperature on fish originates from static exposures, despite phys

Rind-core microbial niche differentiation at centimeter-scale modulates the sensory quality of solid-state high-temperature Daqu.

High-temperature Daqu (HTD) is a vital microbial starter for Moutai-flavor Baijiu, providing the essential enzymes and flavor precursors required for fermentation. However, restricted mass and heat transfer during the solid-state process drive pronounced spatial heterogeneity across the Daqu brick, yet how this niche differentiation modulates HTD quality remains elusive. In this study, we analyzed a comprehensive dataset (n = 134) spanning 12 production batches, performing centimeter-scale characterization of physicochemical properties and microbial succession in both high-quality and ordinary

Ice-Cold Temperature Enhances NADPH Oxidase-Dependent Release of Tissue Factor-Bearing Extracellular Vesicles from Human Monocytic Cells.

UNLABELLED: The recent rise in whole blood usage for traumatic hemorrhagic shock has renewed interest in the impact of leukocytes on hemostatic function during cold storage. This study investigated whether tissue factor (TF)-bearing extracellular vesicles (EVs) are released from human monocytic cells during cold storage or upon rewarming and whether this process is mechanistically linked to apoptosis. We further examined the contribution of superoxide anion generated by NADPH oxidase (NOX). METHODS: THP-1 cells were incubated at 4 °C for up to 24 h with/without test reagents and subsequently

Exploring antioxidant responses after rapid reoxygenation at low temperature in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) - A hypoxia-tolerant neotropical fish.

Fluctuations in oxygenation and reoxygenation rates are common in aquaculture and natural environments and can cause oxidative stress and contribute to pathological conditions. This study evaluated how reoxygenation rate and temperature influence antioxidant defence and oxidative stress in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) exposed to hypoxia. Juvenile fish (61.7 g) were exposed to 12 h of hypoxia (2 mg O2 L-1) at three temperatures (18, 23, and 28 °C), followed by rapid or gradual reoxygenation (0.5 or 5 h). A normoxic group (7 mg O2 L-1) was maintained at each temperature. At 1 and 12 h after re

Highly Temperature-Sensitive CO2 Gate Adsorption on a Flexible 1D Metal-Organic Framework Functionalized with (Trifluoromethyl)trifluoroborate Anion.

A newly synthesized one-dimensional (1D) metal-organic framework (MOF) functionalized with the (trifluoromethyl)trifluoroborate anion was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, CHN elemental analysis, Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and gas adsorption and separation experiments. The 1D MOF exhibits gate-type CO2 adsorption isotherms in the temperature range of 263-303 K with rectangular hysteresis loops. The CO2 gate-adsorption pressure is strongly temperature dependent, and this dependence is relatively lar

Time-temperature-solvent modulated Zn-Fe bimetallic MOFs: correlating structural dynamics with optical, redox, and dopamine sensing performance.

Engineering synergistic metal centres inside metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) provides an effective approach to simultaneously adjust structural, magnetic, and electronic properties within a single architecture. We present a multivariate solvothermal method that utilizes the time-temperature-solvent (T-T-S) synthesis space to fabricate zinc-iron bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (ZnFe-MOFs) based on the FeIII-MIL-88B (MIL - Materials of Institute Lavoisier) structure. Effects of Hot-Air Drying Temperature on Biochemical Quality, Drying Kinetics, and Predictive Modeling of Ziziphus jujuba Fruits.

Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) is an important functional fruit with high levels of bioactive compounds. However, its high moisture content limits its postharvest shelf life. The biochemical properties of jujube fruits influenced by hot-air drying at 50, 60, and 70 °C were studied and predictive models were evaluated to optimize drying. The drying kinetics were modeled using the six classical thin-layer models and artificial neural network (ANN) approach. The Midilli-Kucuk model was the best classical model, and the ANN model showed the best predictive performance, with the RMSE values improve

Temperature-dependent mechanisms of volatile sulfur compound transformation and emission during mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic digestion of sludge.

Volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) are key odorants in sludge anaerobic digestion (AD), but their temperature-dependent transformation mechanisms remain unclear. This study compared mesophilic (35 °C) and thermophilic (55 °C) AD by integrating VSC profiles, microbial communities, sulfur-related enzymes, methionine degradation, and EPS characteristics. Mesophilic digestion produced 24.25 μg·g-1 TS VSCs, with H2S accounting for 96.91%, whereas MM, DMS, and DMDS were marginal. Thermophilic digestion increased total VSCs to 180.27 μg·g-1 TS and shifted dominance to MM (61.04%), followed by H2S (29.8

Engineering migrasome-inspired extracellular vesicles through temperature stimuli on thermoresponsive substrate for retraction fiber formation and hypoosmotic vesiculation.

Migrasomes, recently identified extracellular vesicles, play critical roles in physiological processes such as tissue remodeling and intercellular communication. However, their generally low and cell-type-dependent biogenesis limits their broader applications. Here, a simple and scalable method for producing migrasome-inspired vesicles, termed osmotically-induced migrasome-like vesicles (OsMigs), through temperature stimuli-induced retraction fiber on thermoresponsive polymer-modified substrates and hypoosmotic vesiculation was developed. A two-step cooling treatment of 4 °C and 20 °C on the p

Pre-analytical characterization of CNS-derived extracellular vesicles from human saliva: effect of room temperature and cellular origin.

INTRODUCTION: Blood-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) from neurons and astrocytes carrying Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers can predict progression from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to AD; however, their potential in saliva remains largely unexplored. Saliva-derived extracellular vesicles (sEVs) represent a promising non-invasive biomarker source for AD and other age-related dementias (ADRD), but progress has been limited by a lack of standardized protocols for saliva collection, storage, and central nervous system (CNS)-derived EV isolation. METHODS: This study had two primary objec

Molecular regulatory mechanisms of Populus deltoides under combined high temperature and short-photoperiod stress associated with DNA methylation.

Populus deltoides is a key species for industrial timber and ecological construction in temperate regions, where increasingly frequent and persistent heat waves pose serious challenges to its survival. However, the epigenetic mechanisms by which DNA methylation regulates environmental responses remain poorly understood. Here, whole-genome bisulfite sequencing and RNA-seq were performed on five P. deltoides genotypes grown in temperate and tropical regions. Results revealed that CG/CHG methylation stability is closely correlated with environmental sensitivity. Significant CG/CHG methylation var

Uncovering molecular regulatory networks of low-temperature stress response in Trachinotus ovatus via integrated transcriptome and metabolome analyses.

Golden pompano (Trachinotus ovatus) is one of the most economically important marine fish species in China. It is susceptible to low-temperature stress, which significantly challenges its production and supply. Nevertheless, study on the regulatory mechanisms underlying low-temperature stress responses in golden pompano remains limited. Here, we firstly performed a time-series transcriptome analysis to reconstruct dynamic response patterns under low-temperature stress in golden pompano. Transcriptome profiling identified common differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including fos, hlf, and hmg

Measurement of metabolic activity by telemetric temperature sensing after immunotherapy and chemotherapy on three different mouse tumor models.

This study evaluates within-subject temporal differences between tumor and body temperatures using three cancer models: melanoma, breast cancer, and colon cancer, to monitor the effects of immunotherapy and chemotherapy on temperature differences. In the melanoma arm, TRP-2 immunotherapy led to increased tumor temperatures compared to the control group, with significant overall treatment separation observed at 58 h into the treatment protocol. For breast cancer, AC-Taxol chemotherapy resulted in a drop in body temperature for both treatment and control groups, with significant treatment group

Early clinical experience with a phase change material-based temperature-controlled cold-chain system for donor heart preservation.

BACKGROUND: Temperature fluctuations during conventional ice-box static cold storage may contribute to donor heart injury. We evaluated a phase change material (PCM)-based temperature-controlled cold-chain container (VIXELL) in consecutive adult heart transplantations. METHODS: In a single center, 12 consecutive orthotopic heart transplantations (May-Nov 2025) used VIXELL to maintain 2°C-8°C during ground transport with continuous temperature recording. Severe primary graft dysfunction (PGD) was assessed using International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation criteria. RESULTS: In-tra
