A concentration detection model combining frequency-domain physical priors and deep learning: For SO2 and NO mixed gas under NH3 interference.

In the 200-230 nm ultraviolet wavelength range, there is a significant overlap in the absorption spectra of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitric oxide (NO), and ammonia (NH3). This overlap significantly complicates the detection of SO₂ and NO concentrations. This study proposes a hybrid concentration detection model that combines frequency-domain physical priors with deep learning. Firstly, by utilizing characteristic differences among the three gases in the frequency domain, a band-pass filtering layer separates the frequency band of each target gas from the mixed spectrum. Secondly, we design a para

Super-resolution GAN-enhanced detection of sub-pixel marine plastic debris: Leveraging Sentinel-2 time-series and physics-informed deep learning.

AI-related satellite observation at the superpixel level has remained one of the major challenges for marine plastics because multispectral sensors are mostly lower in spatial resolution. The present research has therefore proposed a technique using the physics-informed deep learning super-resolution-generative adversarial network (SR-GAN) to enhance subpixel marine plastic detection from multi-temporal Sentinel-2 imagery. It utilizes multi-Sentinel-2 MSI spectral bands and plastic-sensitive indices to improve spatial details and spectral separability of floating plastic features in complex co

Proof-of-concept: Differentiating upper trapezius muscle with myofascial trigger point using deep learning model on a small prospective sEMG dataset.

Myofascial pain syndrome commonly arises from myofascial trigger points (MTrPs). While needle electromyography (iEMG) reveals spontaneous activity at trigger points, surface EMG (sEMG) has not been consistently validated. This study provides a proof-of-concept to investigate whether sEMG signals alone contain discriminative information for identifying myofascial trigger point. sEMG signals were recorded from healthy controls (n = 9) and patients with myofascial pain (n = 13). After preprocessing, the contraction segments from pre-intervention (N = 140) and post-intervention (N = 139) tests wer

Intelligent fall risk prediction and real-time warning system for elderly care based on multimodal deep learning and wearable sensor fusion.

Falls remain a leading cause of injury-related morbidity and mortality among adults aged 65 and older, and these human and economic costs keep rising as populations age worldwide. Most existing risk assessment tools rely on periodic clinical evaluations or single-sensor wearable devices, neither of which tracks the dynamic, multifactorial nature of fall risk throughout daily life. In this paper we describe the design, implementation, and pilot-level field validation of an integrated system that pairs a multi-sensor wearable unit (triaxial accelerometer, gyroscope, insole pressure array, and wr

Intelligent Attention-Driven Deep Learning for Hip Disease Diagnosis: Fusing Multimodal Imaging and Clinical Text for Enhanced Precision and Early Detection.

Background and Objectives: Hip joint disorders exhibit diverse and overlapping radiological features, complicating early diagnosis and limiting the diagnostic value of single-modality imaging. Isolated imaging or clinical data may therefore inadequately represent disease-specific pathological characteristics. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 605 hip joints from Center A (2018-2024), comprising normal hips, osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). An independent cohort of 24 hips from Center B (2024-2025) was used

Weakly-supervised deep learning on pathological whole-slide images for cutaneous vasculitis and its mimickers: a high-performance diagnostic support tool.

Cutaneous vasculitis represents a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by inflammation and necrosis of blood vessels within the skin, with or without systemic involvement. The pathological diagnosis of cutaneous vasculitis remains a significant challenge due to its pathological manifestations overlapping with various inflammatory skin diseases and the inherent subjectivity of manual diagnostic criteria. This study leveraged deep learning technology to develop a reliable diagnostic model for whole slide images (WSIs) of cutaneous vasculitis, aiming to standardize and enhance the consi

Deep Learning-Based Comparison of Knee Minimum Joint Space Width in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis Before Total Knee Arthroplasty.

OBJECTIVE: Although both osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can necessitate total knee arthroplasty (TKA), their mechanisms and radiographic patterns of joint space narrowing (JSN) differ. Deep learning (DL) enables compartment-specific measurement of minimum joint space width (mJSW). This study compared JSN patterns between patients with RA and OA undergoing TKA and evaluated the associations between mJSW and RA disease activity. METHODS: In this retrospective study, 409 patients with RA undergoing TKA (2000-2021) were age- and sex-matched with OA patients. A validated DL mode

Real-world assessment of a deep learning neural network algorithm for prostate cancer detection in MRI using true de novo data.

BACKGROUND: Deep-learning neural network algorithms for detecting prostate cancer in MRI have proliferated in the literature. However, out of 30+ studies published since the PROSTATEx challenge, no studies tested the performance of their algorithm against using true external image data sets (studies came from an outside institution that did not supply any training data to the algorithm) while validating against MR-US fusion biopsy or whole-mount prostatectomy. Using true external data sets paints a much clearer picture of real-world clinical performance of an algorithm. PURPOSE: This work wil

DUCK-Net: automated deep learning segmentation of ductular reactions in murine liver injury captures multicellular niche dynamics from H&E morphology.

Ductular reactions (DRs) are dynamic and complex multicellular responses that occur as a result of various hepatic injuries. Precise identification and quantification of the extent of DRs is a cornerstone of pre-clinical modelling of liver disease, with links to inflammation, fibrosis, regeneration, and disease severity. Here, we apply a deep learning model, Deep Understanding Convolutional Kernel (DUCK-Net), to the automated detection and segmentation of DRs in whole-slide histopathological images of murine models of liver damage. Following annotation of a training dataset by a specialist liv

Enhancing Robustness of Deep Learning to Batch Effects from Multi-site Data for Segmentation of Clinically Significant Prostate Cancer on MRI.

Deep learning (DL) has shown promise in segmenting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) on MRI. However, batch effects arising from multi-site variations impact their generalizability. This study investigates the impact of training data harmonization, diversity, and few-shot fine-tuning on DL in segmenting csPCa on multi-site MRI. 3 T prostate MRI from N = 1822 patients of four sites (public: D₁, N = 1500; D₂, N = 157; institutional: D₃, N = 47; D₄, N = 118) was leveraged. Bi-parametric MRI (T2-weighted, ADC) was harmonized with csPCa lesions delineated by expert radiologists. nnU-Ne

Hybrid Fusion of Time-Intensity Curve, Deep Learning, and Fractional Zernike-Caputo Features for Accurate Liver Lesion Classification in DCE-MRI.

Early and accurate detection of liver masses is essential for effective clinical management and improved patient outcomes, as treatment strategies differ significantly between benign and malignant lesions. Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is widely used for liver lesion evaluation due to its ability to capture temporal enhancement behavior. However, reliable interpretation remains challenging because many lesions exhibit similar enhancement patterns, leading to diagnostic uncertainty and potential misclassification. This study proposes a hybrid diagnostic framewor
