AIM: To compare the effects of oral testosterone undecanoate (TU) 40 mg daily and intramuscular depot sustanon 50 (SUS), 4 weekly, on short-term growth and bone turnover.
METHOD: Prospective, randomised, cross-over study over 26 weeks with 4 weeks of run-in, 8 weeks of treatment I (TU/SUS), 4 weeks of wash-out, 8 weeks of treatment II (SUS/TU) and 4 weeks of final wash-out.

OBJECTIVE: This study was undertaken to assess the efficacy, acceptability and side-effects of the Norplant (Leiras) contraceptive system during adolescence.
METHODS: A total of 13 adolescents were implanted with Norplant immediately after menstruation. Adolescents were advised to present for follow-up visits at 3 days after implantation, at 3, 6 and 12 months and every 1 year thereafter. Male rats with or without previous estrogenization followed by A-II or TRH treatments were selected as experimental models. 2. Repeated attempts with oral oestrogens and injectable progesterone failed to induce secretory endometrium in a woman with 17-alpha-hydroxylase deficiency. The insertion of s.c. 17-beta-oestradiol implants dramatically improved the endometrial response and enabled the establishment of endometrial maturation.
