Parental Psychosocial Flourishing and Adolescents' Charitable Giving Intention: The Roles of Adolescent Psychosocial Flourishing and Authenticity.

Adolescent charitable giving (CG) is vital for philanthropic sustainability. While parental influence is recognized, the association between parental psychosocial flourishing and adolescents' CG intention, as well as the psychological processes underlying this association, remains underexplored. Drawing on spillover-crossover theory, this research examined a moderated mediation model in which adolescents' psychosocial flourishing mediates the link between parental psychosocial flourishing and adolescents' CG intention, with adolescents' authenticity moderating this pathway. Two studies were co

Sequential Onset of Japanese Spotted Fever in a Parent-Child Household: A Familial Cluster of Two Cases.

Japanese spotted fever (JSF) is a tick-borne rickettsial infection caused by Rickettsia japonica. Although most cases occur sporadically, familial clusters may arise when multiple individuals are exposed to infected ticks in the same environment. In this report, we describe two sequential cases of JSF, representing, to our knowledge, the first reported parent-child familial cluster. Case 1 involved a 61‑year‑old man who developed fever, rash, and multiple eschars one day after a tick bite. Laboratory testing revealed thrombocytopenia and elevated inflammatory markers. Intravenous minocycline,

Assessing Human Papillomavirus Knowledge and Vaccination Intentions Following a Virtual Educational Intervention for Parents and Guardians.

INTRODUCTION: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection globally, with high-risk strains contributing to cancers of the cervix, penis, anus, vulva, vagina, and oropharynx. Despite the availability of an effective vaccine (Gardasil-9) and broad support from public health organizations, vaccination rates remain suboptimal due to parental hesitancy and misinformation. This study assessed the impact of an educational intervention on HPV knowledge and vaccination intent among parents and guardians of children aged 8 to 17 years. METHODS: Pharmacy students conduct

Stress and Sleep in Adolescence: The Interactive Effects of Skin Conductance Level Reactivity and Parental Psychological Control.

Adolescents are vulnerable to poor sleep, and both individual and environmental factors predict youth sleep problems. The present study examined the independent and interactive associations of adolescent sympathetic nervous system reactivity and experiences of parenting with multiple aspects of their sleep. Participants were 579 late adolescents (Mage = 17.14 years, 47.3% males, 52.7% females; 62.7% White, 37.3% Black). Sympathetic reactivity was measured via skin conductance level reactivity in response to a lab-based stressor, and participants reported on experiences of parental psychologica

"No Vax, No Visit": Psychosocial Impacts of Vaccination-Based Visitation Boundaries Among Australian Parents of Newborns.

ISSUE ADDRESSED: No Vax, No Visit (NVNV) is a parent-led socially negotiated health protection practice aimed at reducing newborns' risk of exposure to pertussis by encouraging visitors to be up to date with tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap/dTpa) vaccination prior to contact. While consistent with Australian cocooning guidance, NVNV shifts responsibility for communication and enforcement onto parents. Its psychosocial impacts and health promotion implications remain poorly understood. METHODS: A cross-sectional mixed-methods online survey was conducted with Australian parents of children un

Key factors in parental end-of-life decision making for surgical necrotizing enterocolitis: A Delphi study.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: In severe cases of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in preterm neonates, surgery may be the only option for survival. However, the consequences of active treatment are not always in the infant's best interest, urging parents and physicians to consider palliative care as an alternative. This study aims to identify key factors parents prioritize when making this decision, as a preliminary step towards developing a decision support tool. METHODS: Three Dutch parent panels (without experience with NEC/preterm birth, with experience but without loss, and with loss due to NEC/

Parental and perinatal risk factors associated with onset of IBD: a systematic literature review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: There is accumulating evidence that certain perinatal and prenatal factors may contribute to the onset of IBD, however evidence on some risk factors is inconsistent. The present study seeks to extend current knowledge on these risk factors and provide a comprehensive overview of which factors are associated with IBD onset and their direction of effect. METHODS: A Systematic review and meta-analysis of case-control, cohort studies and randomised controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the association between parental and perinatal factors and onset of IBD was conducted. The Symptom Structure of Depression, Anxiety and Suicidal Ideation Among Chinese Shidu Parents - A Network Analysis.

BACKGROUND: In China, Shidu parents, who have experienced the pain of losing their only child, are more likely to suffer from mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation compared to other bereaved groups. Currently, the relationships between symptoms of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation among Shidu parents remain unclear, necessitating further research to elucidate these connections. Our study aims to estimate the network of depression and anxiety symptoms and identify the bridge symptoms between depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation based on network an

Parental Attitude Toward the Engagement in Physical Activity of Their Children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus in Hungary.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Physical activity plays an essential role in a healthy lifestyle. For children, the development of an encouraging attitude toward exercise can define a positive life-long behaviour. Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a metabolic disorder that usually develops in early childhood and severely affects glucose metabolism. Associated hypo- and hyperglycaemic conditions can dramatically interfere with the patient's everyday life. Since exercise significantly alters the glucose consumption of the body, this might influence how T1DM patients view physical activity. As parental g

Validating Online Parent- and Self-Report Screening Methods for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.

OBJECTIVE: Although several assessments have been developed to diagnose or measure avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) symptoms, few studies have validated these tools in nonclinical and adult samples. This study explored the validity of two self- and parent/guardian-report ARFID screening measures in identifying adults and children who may have ARFID within a large community sample. METHOD: Fifty participants (divided into two groups: 25 adults and 25 parents/guardians of children) were selected from the ARFID Genes and Environment study, which enrolled over 3000 adults and par
