Current pharmacological management, treatment challenges, and potential future treatment options for fibromyalgia syndrome.

INTRODUCTION: Fibromyalgia (FMS), or Fibro-Myalgia Syndrome, is a complex disorder characterized by pain, fatigue and impaired quality of life. FMS will affect a patient's functionality and often lead to significant disability. FMS remains underdiagnosed and undertreated and is an important comorbidity in patients with musculoskeletal disease. The optimal management of FMS is hindered due to the limited evidence base for treatments. The chronic nature of FMS means increased healthcare costs and an economic burden. AREAS COVERED: We searched articles from Cochrane reviews and PubMed with a foc

Dental Implant Survival and Risk of Medication-Related Osteonecrosis in the Jaws in Patients Undergoing Antiresorptive Therapy: A Systematic Review.

The interaction between antiresorptive medication and dental implant procedures remains a subject of concern complicating the decision-making process for clinicians. The aim of the study is to conduct a literature review on the relationship between dental implant placement and the incidence of osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) in patients receiving antiresorptive drugs. The systematic review relied on the PRISMA statement using the PICO tool. The literature search was performed using PubMed, EBSCOhost and Scopus for RCTs, controlled clinical trials and cohort studies. The choice of reference stud

A Scoping Review of Radiofrequency Microneedling: Clinical Application and Outcome Assessment.

This scoping review comprehensively evaluates the role of radiofrequency microneedling (RFM) in facial rejuvenation, focusing on its applications across specific anatomical regions, integration with transdermal drug delivery and outcome assessments. Searching on PubMed, Web of Science and Embase indicates that RFM is multifunctional in the treatment of cheeks, periorbital regions, mandible, lower face, neck and photoaging. The combination of RFM with agents like poly-L-lactic acid, polynucleotides, platelet-rich plasma and trichloroacetic acid further enhances treatment outcomes, promoting col

Vitamin D and Vitamin D Analogues in Hemodialysis Patients: A Review of the Literature.

Vitamin D exists in various forms and plays a central role in the absorption and regulation of calcium and phosphate. In chronic kidney disease, vitamin D concentrations become progressively reduced with the deterioration of kidney function, which becomes even more pronounced in end-stage kidney disease. Herein, we aim to summarize existing data regarding the pathogenetic role of vitamin D in dialysis and the potential effect of supplementation of various forms of vitamin D on hard and surrogate clinical endpoints. We performed a narrative review, gathering existing observational and clinical

Eosinophil-targeted treatment strategies for long-term outcomes in severe eosinophilic asthma.

BACKGROUND: Airway eosinophilic inflammation is a key pathobiologic trait of severe asthma, a complex chronic disease which affects about 5-10% of asthmatic patients worldwide. Therefore, an in-depth knowledge of the immunopathologic mechanisms underlying severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA) is essential to understand the beneficial effects of currently available, eosinophil-targeted anti-asthma treatments, as well as to develop new therapeutic strategies. AREAS COVERED: This narrative review article aims to provide a concise coverage of the pathophysiology of severe eosinophilic asthma, followed
