The murine Leydig cell tumor (M5480A) possesses high levels of estrogen receptor and is known to produce estrogens. In these studies we examined the effects of the potent aromatase inhibitor 4-hydroxyandrostenedione (4-OHA) on Leydig tumor cell steroidogenesis both in vitro and in vivo. The addition of 4-OHA to Leydig tumor cells in primary culture resulted in a dose- and a time-dependent decrease in media progesterone levels. Leydig stromal cell tumor is a rare ovarian tumor that belongs to the group of sex-cord stromal tumors. They produce testosterone leading to hyperandrogenism. We present a 41yr old woman with symptoms of virilization and a mass of right adenex via ultra Sonography, and a rise of total and free serum testosterone. An ovarian source of androgen was suspected and a surgery performed. A diagnosis of leydig-stromal cell tumor was confirmed. BACKGROUND: Ovarian Stertoli-Ledig cell tumor (SLCT) is a rare type of sex cord-stromal tumor of the ovary. The present study was to evaluate clinicalopahologic features and prognosis of patients with Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor treated by surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy during short term follow-up.
METHODS: A total of sixteen patients with ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor treated at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Shanghai, China, between Jan 2001 and Dec 2011 were reviewed. The clinical data, treatment and prognosis were obtained from medical records.

Both Leydig cell tumor (LCT), which is a sex cord-stromal tumor, and spermatocytic tumor (ST), which is a germ cell tumor, are rare testicular tumors. Synchronous LCT and ST in the unilateral testis are extremely rare because of their different origins. Herein, we report the case of an 84-year-old male patient with right scrotal swelling due to a testicular tumor. His age was out of the onset peak age of LCT but within ST. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case with synchronous LCT and ST in the unilateral testis.

Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCTs) are rare neoplasms, accounting for less than 0.2% of ovarian tumors. The endometrioid-like variant of yolk sac tumor (YST) is very rare, and the most extensive series reported only 8 cases. Hyperandrogenism is a common finding in premenopausal age and is generally caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome or other benign disease. We report the F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) findings of a patient with a testicular Leydig cell tumor. A 43-year-old man was referred for whole body FDG PET/CT imaging for health care screening. FDG PET/CT imaging demonstrated the presence of a focal hypermetabolic lesion in the right testicle and no specific findings in other areas. Based on the preoperative impression, right testis-sparing surgery was attempted. The tumor was pathologically confirmed as a Leydig cell tumor.

We reported the case of a 35-year-old man with Klinefelter's syndrome and a malignant Leydig cell tumor of the testis. Bilateral gynecomastia and right testicular enlargement led the patient to seek medical assistance. Despite initial orchidectomy two years later the patient developed lung and iliac lymph node metastases. The tumor appeared to be refractory to chemotherapy and to hormonal treatments including op'DDD. Finally, the patient died within 20 months of developing metastases. OBJECTIVE: To explore the color Doppler ultrasonic characteristics of testicular Leydig cell tumors (LCT) and improve the clinical diagnosis of the disease.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 4 cases of testicular LCT diagnosed and treated in our hospital and summarized the experience in the ultrasonic diagnosis of LCT with a review of the relevant literature.

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to report the clinical features, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, clinical management, and prognoses of 7 patients with Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCT) of ovary, and to review the literature of this rare condition.
METHODS: Seven patients with pathologically confirmed ovarian SLCT were included. Their clinical, CT and MRI characteristics (CT images obtained from 6 patients and MR images from 4 patients), clinical management, and prognoses of 7 patients were retrospectively analyzed.

Leydig cell tumors are the most common tumors of the gonadal stroma. They account for 3% of all testicular tumors. Whereas in 10% of adult cases malignancy occurs, the clinical course in children is benign. During childhood the tumor presents with precocious pseudopuberty, in adults with testicular swelling and gynecomastia. We report on 17 cases of Leydig cell tumor, paying special attention to clinical and morphological aspects.
