Which Theoretical Models or Frameworks Are Used to Understand Trauma-Informed Care in Mental Health Settings? A Scoping Review.

This scoping review examines and synthesizes the theoretical foundations underpinning trauma-informed care (TIC) in mental health settings. A systematic search of CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed yielded 1278 records, of which 23 peer-reviewed studies published between 2010 and 2025 met the inclusion criteria. Reporting followed the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews) checklist and explanation. Seven overarching theoretical domains were identified: neurobiological and psychophysiological foundations, psychologi

Biobehavioral mechanisms of work-related upper extremity disorders: a new agenda for research and practice.

BACKGROUND: Epidemiological studies provide support for the role of organizational and individual psychosocial stressors in work-related upper extremity disorders (WRUEDs). Despite this evidence, the biological plausibility of a relationship between exposure to various psychosocial and work organizational stressors and WRUEDs remains unclear METHODS: The Georgetown Symposium on Biobehavioral Mechanisms of Work-Related Upper Extremity Disorders was held in Washington D.C. on November 6-7, 2000 to improve the understanding of potential biobehavioral mechanisms, identify future areas for researc

Effects of Organizational Climate and Servant Leadership on Work Engagement Among Japanese Nurses: The Mediating Role of Psychological Safety.

BACKGROUND: Work engagement is a pivotal concept associated with nurses' occupational well-being, performance, and retention. According to the job demands-resources (JD-R) model, work engagement is enhanced by job resources in the workplace. In nursing settings, hierarchical structures and interpersonal sensitivities may inhibit open expression, suggesting that psychological safety plays an important role in workplace interactions and work engagement. However, the mechanisms through which organizational climate and leadership influence work engagement via psychological safety have not been suf

Strategic continuity planning: the first critical step.

Many companies (and business continuity professionals) believe a company needs a comprehensive, all-inclusive business continuity plan. Often they reach this conclusion after other companies or potential clients have requested to see their business continuity plan as a precondition of doing business. Companies without 'a plan' are then tempted to go out and hire a business continuity person and tell them to 'Create a plan!' This makes perfect sense to the executive team, but this approach will probably not work in a real event. This paper addresses the shortcomings of producing tactical docume

Effect of brief smoking cessation online training on knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and organizational factors in European health professions students: A pre-post study.

INTRODUCTION: Health professionals play a critical role in tobacco prevention and cessation, but limited training during education often leaves their knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and organizational support insufficient. Our aim was to assess the effect of an online brief smoking cessation training program on knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and organizational factors among health professions students in Spain and the United Kingdom. METHODS: A pre-post study was conducted among 756 undergraduate health professions students (652 from Spain and 104 from the UK) from four universities. Parti

Schools' Readiness for Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education: an Overview of Theoretical Models.

Schools' readiness appears an important factor influencing their implementation of violence prevention programs. This review was undertaken to identify, describe, and compare existing theoretical readiness models and their strengths and limitations, and to select an appropriate theoretical model to underpin the study of schools' readiness for child sexual abuse (CSA) prevention education. This, in turn, would guide development of a new instrument to assess schools' readiness for CSA prevention. Searches were conducted from September to December 2022 in ERIC, PsychINFO, PubMed, Science Direct,

Influence of organizational stress on reported depressive symptoms among police.

BACKGROUND: There is a growing body of research on operational stress injuries (OSIs) among police officers and first responders. Most studies focus on operational stressors' contribution to OSI and the development of post-traumatic stress disorder. However, preliminary research shows that organizational stressors may uniquely contribute to OSI and depression, and thus should be examined more closely. AIMS: This study explored the influence of organizational stress on symptoms of depression in a sample of police officers from a large urban region. METHODS: Front-line (n = 109) police officer

Organizational Support and Job Satisfaction of Nurses in Contemporary Clinical Practice: Indirect Associations Through Distributive Justice and Emotional Exhaustion.

Background/Objectives: Nurses' job satisfaction is influenced by organizational conditions and psychological responses to demanding work. Although perceived organizational support, organizational justice, and burnout are established correlates of nurses' work outcomes, less is known about how distributive justice and emotional exhaustion may operate simultaneously within the association between organizational support and job satisfaction. This study examined these two theoretically distinct indirect pathways. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 157 nurses employed at General C

Signaling Organizational Artificial Intelligence Adoption in Recruitment Materials: Role of Perceived Innovation Ability in Organizational Attractiveness.

Although previous studies have examined factors influencing organizational appeal, how AI-adoption signals influence prospective applicants remains unclear. Building on signaling theory, this study explores whether, when, and how organizations' AI-adoption signals enhance their attractiveness to potential applicants. Two experiments were conducted to test the hypothesized model. Study 1 (N = 145) employed a scenario-based design to compare organizational attractiveness between AI-adoption signal and no-signal conditions, confirming that AI-adoption signals are significantly positively associat

Leadership as decision architecture: an organizational framework for understanding and eliminating physical restraint in human services.

Physical restraint persists at high rates in human services settings supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), even within organizations that have formally adopted positive behavior support (PBS) frameworks and invested substantially in staff training. This perspective article introduces the Staff Decision Ecology Model, a decision ecology account of physical restraint, which conceptualizes restraint as a context-dependent, staff-mediated decision shaped by nested individual, environmental, and organizational variables, and argues that leadership functions
