Professional identity profiles among nursing interns: a latent profile analysis and associations with psychological capital.

BACKGROUND: Clinical practicum is the stage at which nursing interns begin to experience nursing as daily work. Professional identity is important during this transition, yet interns are often treated as a homogeneous group because they share the same training stage. This may obscure different patterns of role understanding, clinical belonging, teamwork, coping, and reflection. This study aimed to identify latent profiles of professional identity among nursing interns and examine how dimensions of psychological capital were associated with profile membership. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey

Riding the time treadmill: An interpretive phenomenological study of clinical nursing interns' experience of time poverty.

BACKGROUND: Time poverty refers to the condition where individuals struggle to secure sufficient free time due to overwhelming responsibilities. This phenomenon has significant physical and mental health implications. Clinical nursing interns are particularly susceptible to time poverty due to demanding schedules, long shifts, and irregular hours during clinical placements. Despite its relevance, limited research explores the subjective experiences of clinical nursing interns regarding time poverty and its implications for their professional development and well-being. AIMS: This study aimed

A Mixed-Methods, International, Multisite Study to Develop and Validate a Measure of Nurse-to-Physician Communication in Simulation.

AIM: This study examined the reliability and validity of the ISBAR Interprofessional Communication Rubric (IICR). BACKGROUND: Improving education regarding communication in health care is a global priority. Communication is difficult to measure and no evaluation rubrics were located that uniquely focused on nurse-to-physician communication in simulation. METHOD: This study used a mixed-methods design and included five sites. RESULTS: The IICR was determined reliable among nurse educator raters (r = 0.79). The scale was found valid as assessed by nurse and physician experts (content validity

The relationship between transition shock and professional identity of nursing interns in China: a moderated mediation effect analysis.

BACKGROUND: Nursing interns often experience transition shock upon entering clinical practice, which may diminish their professional identity and potentially lead to future turnover. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between transition shock and professional identity among nursing interns and to examine the mediating role of feedback-seeking behavior and the moderating role of self-efficacy i

A European Blueprint for Community Nursing: Building Care Protocols on International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 7101:2023.

Care across Europe is moving out of the hospital and into homes and communities. The family and community nurse now stands at the center of this shift, holding continuous responsibility for people where they live. Yet the procedures that guide this work are often written locally and vary widely, with no shared quality architecture behind them. This editorial proposes International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 7101:2023 as a possible common European reference model for designing community nursing care protocols, anchoring each procedure to quality principles such as people-centered ca
