Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) of the female genital tract is an uncommon malignancy, presenting mainly in the pediatric and adolescent populations, primarily affecting the first two decades of life. This malignancy presentation in adulthood is rare and is seldom seen. The incidence of this tumor affecting adult females is approximately 0.4 - 1%, with the common site being the vagina. This tumor infrequently involves the cervix. RMS has a poor survival rate and once diagnosed, it requires aggressive management by radical surgery accompanied by chemoradiation. We present a case of an anaplast

The larynx and the remaining components of the upper aerodigestive tract collectively play an important role in undertaking respiration, phonation, and deglutition. Therefore, a variety of pathologies can present with similar symptoms. Systemic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and relapsing polychondritis, may also manifest with laryngeal symptoms and findings, whereas rare pathologies may present with vague presentations. Such scenarios may be attributed to the consequent medical confusion and dilemma in reaching an accurate diagnosis. In this case report, an 11-year-old male presented

BACKGROUND: Laryngeal rhabdomyosarcomas (RMSs) mainly occurred in children, while were extremely rare in adults. Consequently, less information was available to guide clinicians to manage adult RMSs in larynx.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 42-year-old man presented with a 2-year history of gradually worsening hoarseness. Then, he underwent a surgery with suspension laryngoscope with initially being diagnosed as vocal cord cyst. Unexpectedly, the lesion was proved to be embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS), pathologically. Next, he underwent chemoradiotherapy, while the tumor relapsed 18 months after the

Sarcoma botryoides (embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma) rarely arises in the uterine cervix. We report a case of a 14-year-old female with sarcoma botryoides who presented with prolonged vaginal bleeding and cervical polyp. The biopsy specimen confirmed sarcoma botryoides. The patient underwent radical surgery of the tumor and hysterectomy without adjuvant chemotherapy. The sister of the patient had died previously due to the same diagnosis at the age of 17. We achieved a satisfactory outcome in short-term period with radical surgery and hysterectomy. Presence of sarcoma botryoides of the cervix in tw

Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the common bile duct is a very rare malignancy of childhood. The radiological appearance of the lesion is similar to that of congenital choledochal cyst if there is no local invasion to the adjacent tissues. The authors present a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the common bile duct which was considered to be a congenital choledochal cyst preoperatively, and they discuss this very rare childhood tumor, with a brief survey of the literature. In conclusion, it is important to know that this rare tumor can simulate congenital choledochal cyst; it should be consi

Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare malignancy in children and adolescents that frequently presents diagnostic challenges when mimicking benign inflammatory conditions. We report the case of a 14-year-old previously healthy male who presented with acute right scrotal pain and swelling initially diagnosed as epididymo-orchitis. Despite 1 month of intensive antibiotic therapy including intravenous meropenem, the patient showed no clinical improvement. Serial ultrasound examinations demonstrated a heterogeneous paratesticular mass with increased vascularity, prompting MRI evaluation that re

This report describes a rare presentation of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) in a 76-year-old postmenopausal woman who presented with several months of unreported vaginal bleeding followed by obstructive urinary symptoms. Imaging revealed a large uterine mass, and biopsy with immunohistochemical staining confirmed ERMS characterized by high-grade histopathologic features. Given her advanced age, comorbidities, poor functional status, and extensive tumor burden, the patient opted for palliative care focused on comfort and quality of life. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges, aggres

Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arising from the ureter is exceedingly rare. We report the case of a 20-year-old female who presented with flank pain and hematuria, initially attributed to ureteral stones. Subsequent evaluation revealed an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (botryoid subtype) of the ureter. Following surgical resection and chemotherapy, the patient achieved remission and experienced minor complications including neuropathy and bladder irritation. This case highlights the classification and management of ureteral rhabdomyosarcoma. While the prognosis for ureteral rhabdomyosarcoma appears fa

Primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the testis is an exceptionally rare and highly malignant sarcoma. To date, there are only 23 reported cases in the literature. We report a 17-year-old male patient presented with massive scrotal swelling that had been progressively enlarging over seven-months. Scrotal ultrasound and contrast-enhanced CT revealed a 10 × 10cm left testicular heterogeneously enhancing mass that extends into the spermatic cord. A left inguinal orchiectomy was performed, and histopathological examinations showed findings consistent with Rhabdomyosarcoma, Embryonic-type. Primary embryonal

Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is an extremely rare malignancy in adults, accounting for 7% of all RMS cases and 6% of all non-germinal intrascrotal tumors. The clinical signs are similar to those of a hydrocele or testicular tumor, typically presenting as a unilateral, painless mass in the inguinal canal or scrotum. No specific serum markers are currently available for this tumor. RMS of the epididymis is extremely rare. Particularly when it is associated with epididymitis, this malignancy is usually overlooked. We herein present a case of epididymal embryonal RMS, manifesting an painf

Although primary tumors of the diaphragm are rare in children, rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common malignant tumor arising in the diaphragm. Rhabdomyosarcoma is a malignant tumor that arises from primary mesenchymal cells that differentiate into skeletal muscle. Here, we report on a two-year-old boy in whom embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the diaphragm developed and who presented with abdominal distension due to significant ascites. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed two mass lesions: a lesion that had originated from the right diaphragmatic crus, part of the diaphragm, extending to

Costello syndrome (CS) patients suffer from a very high 10% incidence of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS). As tools to discover targeted therapeutic leads, we used a CS patient-derived ERMS cell line (CS242 ERMS) harboring a homozygous p.G12A mutation in HRAS, and a control cell line derived from the same patient comprising non-malignant CS242 fibroblasts with a heterozygous p.G12A HRAS mutation. A library of 2,000 compounds with known pharmacological activities was screened for their effect on CS242 ERMS cell viability. Follow-up testing in a panel of cell lines revealed that various compoun

We report an unusual case of 9.5-cm-sized embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arose from a mediastinal mature teratoma in a 46-yr-old man. A man presented with chest trauma as a result of an accident at 10 September 2011. On chest X-ray, an anterior mediastinal mass was detected. To obtain further information, chest computed tomography (CT) with contrast enhancement was performed, revealing an anterior mediastinal mass. Complete surgical excision was performed and entire specimen was evaluated. Pathologic diagnosis was embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arising in mature cystic teratoma. After surgical excisio
