Despite a sizable educational art enterprise in the United States there is a dearth of rigorously performed studies of exposures to persons engaged in such activities. Exposures to 45 EPA-designated volatile organic compounds were examined in printmakers in a mixed-use university art school served by a 100% exhausted mechanical ventilation system. We examined the relationship between exposure to beryllium and the presence of beryllium sensitization (BeS) and chronic beryllium disease (CBD) in a cohort of workers in a beryllium precision machining facility. Twenty workers with BeS or CBD (cases) were compared with 206 worker-controls in a case-control study. OBJECTIVES: To understand the prevalence of polyneuropathy and correlations among the clinical manifestations, electrophysiological findings, and degree of exposure to carbon disulphide (CS2) in workers who were exposed to variable concentrations of CS2 in a viscose rayon factory.

In this study, the authors report two observations of granulomatous hepatitis. The secondary appearance of a mononucleosis syndrome, three weeks after the onset of fever, in healthy adults, evoked the diagnosis of a cytomegalovirus infection. The authors insist on the histologic and virologic differences of the CMV infection between the healthy adults and the immunodepressed patients.
