In this report, the nature of the protein components involved in the functioning of cytidine-5'-monophosphate-N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-Neu5 Ac) hydroxylase in high-speed supernatants of mouse liver has been investigated. A 55-year-old female presented with sore throat and slight fever. The patient was admitted to our hospital on December 13, 1993. An enzyme that transfers sialic acid from GMP-sialic acid to lactosylceramide was concentrated 40-50 times in Golgi apparatus from rat liver relative to total homogenates.
