Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a rare, self-limiting form of necrotizing lymphadenitis that primarily affects young adults and often mimics lymphoma or autoimmune lymphadenitis both clinically and histologically. We report the case of a 28-year-old Caucasian woman with a history of Hashimoto's thyroiditis presenting with progressive cervical lymphadenopathy, fever, weight loss, and myalgia. Laboratory findings showed leukopenia, elevated transaminases, and increased LDH. Imaging revealed bilateral lymphadenopathy and mildly enlarged spleen. Histopathological examination of an excised lymph

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD), also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is a rare benign condition characterized by cervical lymphadenopathy and constitutional symptoms mimicking tuberculosis. We present the case of a 22-year-old male who presented with fever, dry cough, loss of appetite, multiple joint pains for 15 days, and loss of weight for one month. Physical examination revealed palpable cervical, occipital, axillary, and inguinal lymphadenopathy, and laboratory investigations were within normal limits except for raised erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). Contrast-enhanced

Kikuchi Fujimoto's disease is a rare, self limiting disorder characterized by fever and cervical lymphadenitis. It is often an incidental finding in a patient suspected to have tuberculosis or lymphoproliferative disorder. We diagnosed this disease in a young 23-year-old female who was suffering from prolonged fever, cervical lymphadenopathy, anemia, leucopenia and mild splenomegaly; based on histopathological study of the excised lymphnode. We reviewed the clinical records and histopathologic findings of four more patients of Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease, who were treated by others at our insti

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a rare, benign condition that often mimics infectious or malignant disorders. We report the case of a 36-year-old woman with atypical lymphadenopathy involving axillary, supraclavicular, and infraclavicular lymph nodes, without cervical involvement. Initial treatment with antibiotics and acetaminophen was ineffective. Laboratory tests excluded infection and other under- lying diseases, while ultrasonography confirmed lymphadenopathy. Excisional biopsy revealed histopathological findings consistent with KFD. Surgical removal of the affected lymph nodes resulted

BACKGROUND: Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease (KD) is a rare necrotizing lymphadenitis that is often self-limiting but occasionally associated with autoimmune conditions. Dermatomyositis is an autoimmune inflammatory myopathy that typically presents with proximal muscle weakness and a characteristic skin rash. In this report, we present a unique case of KD, the first documented association worldwide as the initial manifestation of dermatomyositis, highlighting the rarity and novelty of this case.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease (KFD), also known as Kikuchi histiocytic necrotising lymphadenitis, is an extremely rare and benign condition that mostly affects young women. It is characterised by lymph node involvement with a predilection for the cervical region, commonly presenting with tender lymphadenopathy and a low-grade fever. The diagnosis requires excisional lymph node biopsy with immunohistochemical analysis. KFD is mostly self-limiting within a few weeks to months, with only some patients requiring symptomatic relief with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids, and a min

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) commonly manifests with symptoms of fever, tender cervical adenopathy, and systemic symptoms like night sweats, rashes, headache, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, and sore throat. In this case study, a 27-year-old patient's main complaints included fever, neck oedema, and weight loss that started one month ago. Following preliminary inquiries, ultrasonography, and CT scans, a multidisciplinary team has been overseeing the case. After a biopsy of axillary and cervical lymph nodes, it has been diagnosed as a case of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease overlapping with Systemic

We report a 29-year-old man with subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis (SNL) associated with recurrent aseptic meningitis following an 11-year remission period. In both episodes, headache and fever were followed by lymphadenopathy, with increased serum IgE level. Although pleocytosis in cerebrospinal fluid was confirmed at admission in the first episode, it appeared at one week after admission in the second episode. Administration of glucocorticoid was effective for treating meningitis. The present case suggests a pathomechanism for SNL that involves both an immunological background and an acute

Kikuchi disease (histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis) is a rare, benign entity which predominantly affects young women. The disease usually presents with painful or painless enlarged cervical lymph nodes accompanied with fever. The cause of the disease is uncertain and only 17 cases in the literature have been reported in the past to be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We report four cases of SLE with Kikuchi disease in Taiwan. This is the first report regarding Kikuchi disease and SLE in Taiwan. All patients are female. The mean age is 30 (ranging from 21 to 35 years). Th

A 22-year-old female noted a low grade fever and swelling of the cervical lymph nodes in May 1997, and later developed a dry cough. She was diagnosed to have interstitial pneumonitis, and then administration of corticosteroids alleviated her symptoms. On February 6, 1998, however, a high fever recurred and her swollen cervical lymph node on the right side was biopsied on February 9, 1998. A histological examination revealed an increased number of histiocytes and karyorrhexis of the lymphocytes in the paracortical areas, and she was therefore diagnosed to have histiocytic necrotizing lymphadeni

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is a rare benign disease, more common in Japanese women, with only a few cases reported from other parts of the world. The pathogenesis is poorly understood. A 22-year-old man noticed a node growth a month before his admittance. At first he noticed one enlarged node in the left axilla, later also the nodes on his neck and in his right axilla. Before that he had felt shivery and reported night sweats. Physical examination revealed bilateral enlarged (up to 2 cm) painful but not inflamed lymph nodes on the neck and in both a

Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, also known as KIKUCHI disease is rare self-limited condition of young adults. Manifestations include enlargements of the cervical lymph nodes, sometimes with fever, and can be associated with other non-specific signs. The aetiologie of this affection is still unclear. This is a case report of a 27 year-old man who presented cervical and sus-clavicular lymphadenopathy diagnosed first as lymph nodes tuberculosis before the diagnostic of KIKUCHI disease was made.

The clinicopathologic features of five cases of Kikuchi's lymphadenitis (histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis without granulocytic infiltration) occurring in Qatar are presented. There were three females and two males aged from 18 to 36 years with a mean of 29 years. Three were Indians and two were Qataris. Cervical lymph nodes were affected in all cases while one patient also had inguinal and femoral lymph node enlargement. Three patients achieved complete remission within three months. The differential diagnosis both clinically and histologically, included malignant lymphoma, toxoplasmosis,

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is a rare disease that is frequently underdiagnosed due to clinical features that are similar to those of non-Hodgkin lymphomas, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), or infectious reactive lymphadenopathy. An excisional biopsy is required. We report a young Caucasian female diagnosed with KFD with skin lesions, complicating with SLE. The clinical course, laboratory, and CT findings are described, as are histopathologic features, for a better recognition of this rare disorder in clinical practice.

Generalized lymphadenopathy after organ transplant is a concerning finding, often indicating the devel-opment of lymphoma. We describe a 52-year-old liver transplant recipient who had clinical symptoms and imaging concerning for posttransplant lymphoproliferative disease. However, histologic evaluation of a lymph node biopsy revealed that the patient actually had a much rarer but relatively benign condition, Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis). We discuss the epidemiology, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, histologic features, and treatment of this uncommon mimic of po

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD), also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is a self-limiting lymphadenitis. It is a benign disease mainly characterized by high fever, lymph node swelling, and leukopenia. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life-threatening disease with clinical symptoms similar to those of KFD, but it requires a significantly more aggressive treatment. A 19-year-old Korean male patient was hospitalized for fever and cervical lymphadenopathy. Variable-sized lymph node enlargements with slightly necrotic lesions were detected on computed tomography. Despite remarkable progress in diagnosis and understanding the pathogenesis of rare diseases, their management still remains very difficult and reserved especially for specialized medical center. Skin disorders [(systemic phacomatosis pigmentovascularis (PPV) and persistent lymphadenopathy (Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD)] are two rare conditions in the pediatric age. We describe an 11-year-old boy with congenital phacomatosis pigmentovascularis suffering from fever, nocturnal perspiration, fatigue, poor appetite and right cervical lymphadenopathy. The predominance of systemic symptoms prompted
