Phosphoric Acid Versus Biogenic Mineralization of Hydroxyapatite and Carbonate Apatite in Relation to Infection-Induced Urinary Stones: Physical, Chemical and Microbiological Aspects.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the incidence of urinary stones, including infection urinary stones, especially in highly developed countries. One of the areas where the cause of the increased morbidity in these countries can be found is food products and their ingredients, which are not as common in other countries. Very often, attention is drawn to the greater consumption of highly processed food, the production of which uses flavour enhancers and various preservatives. One of the substances used in the food industry as an acidity regulator or antioxidant is phosphoric acid. I

Atroposelective Synthesis of 2,2'-Bis(arylamino)-1,1'-biaryls by Oxidative Iron(III)- and Phosphoric Acid-Catalyzed C-C Coupling of Diarylamines.

We describe an iron-catalyzed asymmetric oxidative C-C coupling of diarylamines which proceeds at room temperature with air as final oxidant. Using hexadecafluorophthalocyanine-iron(II) as catalyst in the presence of catalytic amounts of an axially chiral biaryl phosphoric acid, the resulting chiral 2,2'-diamino-1,1'-biaryls are obtained in up to 90 % ee as confirmed by chiral HPLC. A detailed mechanism has been proposed with a radical cation-chiral phosphate ion pair as key intermediate leading to the observed asymmetric induction.

Understanding the effects of diluents on metal extraction efficiency of bis-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid using FTIR and two-dimensional correlation analysis.

The interaction of diluents with bis-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) during the saponification process for enhanced metal extraction efficiency was investigated. The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectra of D2EHPA in different diluents and saponification degrees were obtained by attenuated total internal reflection spectroscopy to monitor the changes in its functional groups. The two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS), Pearson's correlation, and multiple linear regression model were used to elucidate the saponification process and the correlation between the functional grou

Synergistic recovery of mercury and rare earth elements from waste phosphors by microwave alkali fusion-carbothermal reduction followed by acid leaching.

Waste phosphors (WP) containing mercury from discarded fluorescent lamps is not only a dangerous solid waste but also a secondary resource for recycling of rare earth elements (REEs) and mercury. This study aimed to investigate synergistic recovery of REEs and mercury from WP by microwave alkali fusion-carbothermal reduction followed by acid leaching. Phosphors and mercury compounds were decomposed by NaOH and carbon to rare earth oxides with low-valence and elemental mercury. When WP was roasted with alkali and carbon powder at 900 °C for 30 min, mercury removal efficiency reached 99.9 %; the

Formaldehyde-free and durable phosphorus-containing cotton flame retardant with -N=P-(N)3- and reactive ammonium phosphoric acid groups.

A flame retardant (FR) hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene diethylenetriamine ammonium phosphoric acid (HDAPA) was synthesized. Vertical flammability test and limiting oxygen index (LOI) results showed that cotton samples finished with HDAPA solutions (15 % and 20 %) could pass vertical flame retardancy test, and LOIs reached 30.1 % and 35.4 % even after 50 laundering cycles according to AATCC 61-2013 3A washing standard (3A), performing flame retardancy and washing durability. Meanwhile, Fourier transform infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses suggested that HDAPA was grafted on cot

Selenite Adsorption and Reduction via Iron(II) Impregnated Activated Carbon Produced from the Phosphoric Acid Activation of Construction Waste Wood.

Chemical activation of waste materials, to form activated carbon, (AC) is complicated by the large amounts of chemical activating agents required and wastewater produced. To address these problems, we have developed an optimized process for producing AC, by phosphoric acid activation of construction waste. Waste wood from construction sites was ground and treated with an optimized phosphoric acid digestion and activation that resulted in high surface areas (> 2000 m2/g) and a greater recovery of phosphoric acid. Subsequently the phosphoric acid activated carbon (PAC), was functionalized with i

Organic Phosphoric Acid Doped Polyaniline-Coupled g-C3 N4 for Enhancing Fire Safety of Intumescent Flame-Retardant Epoxy Resin.

Two kinds of polyaniline coupled graphitized carbon nitride nanosheets doped with different organic phosphoric acids (CP@PA, with phytic acid; CP@NP, with amino trimethyl phosphonic acid) are developed by in-situ polymerization. According to the analysis of the section morphology and element distribution of epoxy resin (EP) composites, although CP@PA and CP@NP show completely different morphology, they can significantly enhance the dispersion of graphitized carbon nitride nanosheets in EP. Moreover, the different oxidation states of phosphorus contained in the CP@PA and CP@NP lead to varying e

Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid-based hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent as a carrier for ferrofluid: application for rapid determination of bisphenol A in water samples.

A hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent composed of di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid and menthol was synthesized and employed as the carrier liquid for the development of a new ferrofluid for liquid-phase microextraction of bisphenol A (BPA) from water samples. The methodology comprised stirring the water sample with a specified volume of ferrofluid, magnetic separation of the phases, and subsequent desorption of BPA using ethanol. No centrifugation was required, and the microextraction process took approximately 3.5 min. The obtained extract was subjected to analysis by high-performance liquid chr

Removal of Fe(III)/Al(III)/Mg(II) by phosphonic group functionalized resin in wet-process phosphoric acid: Mechanism and intrinsic selectivity.

The removal of iron ions (Fe(III)), aluminum ions (Al(III)), and magnesium ions (Mg(II)) in phosphoric acid (H3PO4) solution is vital for the production of H3PO4 and supply of phosphate fertilizer. However, the mechanism and intrinsic selectivity for removal of Fe(III), Al(III), and Mg(II) from wet-process phosphoric acid (WPA) by phosphonic group (-PO3H2) functionalized MTS9500 are still unclear. In this work, the removal mechanisms were determined via combined analysis of FT-IR, XPS, molecular dynamics (MD), and quantum chemistry (QC) simulations based on density functional theory (DFT). Determination of phosphoric acid triesters in human plasma using solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography coupled to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

A simple and sensitive method for determination of phosphoric acid triesters at trace levels in human plasma sample is described. In this work, solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is employed as a sample preparation procedure for extraction and pre-concentration of alkyl and aryl phosphates followed by gas chromatography coupled to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (GC-ICP-MS) for phosphorus-specific and very sensitive determination of these compounds in human plasma. The detection limits from blood plasma were 50 ngL(-1) (tripropyl phosphate), 17 ngL(-1) (tributyl phosphate), 240 ng

A phosphoric acid pre-swelling strategy to construct poly(fluorenyl-co-imidazoliumisatin) membranes with high ion selectivity and stability for vanadium redox flow battery.

The development of advanced membranes combining high ion conductivity with long-term stability remains a critical challenge in vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) technology. In this work, we report a novel class of ether-free poly(fluorenyl-co-imidazoliumisatin) (PFIMIS-x%) membranes prepared through rational copolymerization of fluorene, methylimidazole and isatin units, followed by a phosphoric acid (PA) pre-swelling strategy. The rigid fluorene core enhances dimensional and chemical stability, while methylimidazole provides protonation sites and dense hydrogen-bond networks. Meanwhile, the

The phosphorus excretion pattern and balance during one egg cycle of the laying hen fed a phosphorus deficient diet with or without a single dose of phosphoric acid.

A balance trial was conducted to study the phosphorus excretion pattern of laying hens in relation to egg cycle. Excreta were collected quantitatively at 4, 8, 12, and 24 hr after oviposition. The amount of feed consumed corresponding to the excreta collected at a specific time interval was calculated using chromic oxide as a marker. The percent recovery of chromic oxide with laying hens was 73.97 +/- .56%. The maximum apparent digestibility of the dietary phosphorus, all of plant origin, was estimated to be 28.9 +/- 3.1% during 0 to 4 hr after oviposition when the endogenous excretion of phos

Sustainable CO₂ capture using phosphoric acid-activated carbon from the novel biomass Chamaerops humilis: experimental optimization, characterization and DFT insight into the adsorption mechanism.

In this study, a sustainable activated carbon (AC-CH) was synthesised from Chamaerops humilis biomass by chemical activation with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) with the aim of efficient carbon dioxide (CO₂) capture. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimise the preparation parameters, namely impregnation time (8-24 h), activation temperature (550-750 °C) and impregnation ratio (1:1 to 3:1). The optimal material exhibited a high specific surface area (600 m2/g) and a maximum adsorption capacity of CO₂ reaching 115 mg/g. The study of isotherms showed that Toth's model best fits the exper

Upcycling of end-of-life wind turbine blades: Phosphoric acid-activated balsa carbon as a catalyst for the co-pyrolysis of epoxy resin and polyvinyl chloride core into phenolic compounds.

To enhance the resource utilization of end-of-life wind turbine blades (EolWTBs), this study proposes an innovative catalytic co-pyrolysis approach integrating catalyst preparation and synergistic recycling of different blade components. Specifically, this study first utilized H3PO4 as an activator to convert balsa wood from the balsa wood-filled part (EolWTB-1) into an H3PO4-AC catalyst, which was subsequently utilized to catalyze the co-pyrolysis of the glass fiber-reinforced polymer (EolWTB-3) and PVC-filled (EolWTB-4) parts. This strategy realized both waste-derived catalyst production and
