Acute effects of FIFA 11+ warm-up on skin temperature in male and female amateur soccer players.

Objective. Warm-up is a fundamental part of the training session and competition preparation, improving performance and reducing sports injuries. The FIFA 11+ is a specific evidence-based routine created to enhance neuromuscular performance and prevent lower-limb injuries. Infrared thermography (IRT) is a non-invasive tool for monitoring tissue state and thermoregulation responses. This study examined the acute effects of the FIFA 11+ warm-up on skin surface temperature (Tsk) patterns of the dominant lower limb in amateur football players using IRT.Approach. A pre-post observational design was

The impact of warm-up with the volleyveilig approach on upper extremity function in female volleyball players.

This study aimed to assess the impact of the VolleyVeilig program on enhancing upper extremity performance in female volleyball players. While previous research has focused mainly on lower extremity injury prevention, there remains a significant lack of studies examining how structured warm-up routines can influence upper extremity performance in the sport. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test was used. Thirty female volleyball players, aged 16 to 21, were randomly divided into two groups: VolleyVeilig intervention group and traditional warm-up group. The VolleyVeilig warm-u

Efficacy of a Rhythmic Gymnastics-Specific Injury Prevention Program: An Assessor-Blinded Cluster-Randomized Controlled Trial.

Overuse injuries are common among competitive rhythmic gymnasts, with an estimated weekly prevalence of 37% and with the knees, lower back, and hip/groin as the most common injury locations. Reduced physical capacity (e.g., strength and flexibility) has been hypothesized to contribute to the high prevalence of overuse injuries. The primary objective of this trial was to assess if exercises targeting reduced physical capacity in the knees, lower back, and hip/groin reduce the prevalence of overuse injuries compared with usual training. Twenty-three rhythmic gymnastics clubs were cluster-randomi

Acute Effects of ACL Injury-Prevention Warm-Up and Soccer-Specific Fatigue Protocol on Dynamic Knee Valgus in Youth Male Soccer Players.

Childhood anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries-which can pose a major risk to a child's sporting career-have been on the rise in the last few decades. Dynamic knee valgus (DKV) has been linked to an increased risk of ACL injury. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the acute effects of an ACL injury prevention protocol (ACL-IPP) and a soccer-specific fatigue protocol (SSFP) on DKV in youth male soccer players. The research hypothesis was that DKV would be reduced by the ACL-IPP and increased by the SSFP. Eighteen youth male soccer players were divided according to baseline DKV.

Maximum-Speed Warm-Up Without External Load Improves the Chest Pass Distance in Female Basketball Players.

Chest pass distance, which reflects upper-limb power, is a practical indicator of performance level in basketball. This study investigated whether a non-weight-bearing warm-up performed at maximum speed could improve chest pass distance in young female basketball players. Forty-five players performed three warm-up conditions in a randomized order using a crossover design: maximum-speed, slow-speed, and control (sitting). The warm-up protocol comprised eight sets of six dynamic upper-limb exercises performed without external load. Chest pass distance was measured before and after each condition

The effects of water temperature on cerebral blood flow during aquatic exercise.

PURPOSE: Recent studies suggest that episodic increases in cerebral blood flow (CBF) may contribute to the improvement in brain health associated with exercise training. Optimising CBF during exercise may enhance this benefit. Water immersion in ~ 30-32 °C augments CBF at rest and during exercise; however, the impact of water temperature on the CBF response has not been investigated. We hypothesised that cycle ergometry in water would increase CBF compared to land-based exercise, and that warm water would attenuate the CBF benefits. METHODS: Eleven young heathy participants (nine males; 23.8

The combined effects of hydration and exercise heat stress on choice reaction time.

The purpose of this investigation was to examine the combined effects of hydration and exercise heat stress on choice reaction time. On three separate occasions eight male subjects performed cycle exercise at approximately 70% of peak power output in warm, humid conditions (31 degrees C, 63% relative humidity) for a maximum of 90 min or until exhaustion. Throughout the trials, subjects ingested either a volume of water equal to fluid loss (100-FR), a volume equivalent to approximately 50% of fluid loss (50-FR), or no fluid (0-FR). A choice reaction time task was undertaken at rest, after 20 mi

Acute partial sleep deprivation attenuates blood pressure responses to cycling exercise.

Exaggerated blood pressure (BP) responses during exercise are independently associated with future development of hypertension. Partial sleep deprivation (PSD) can increase 24-h ambulatory BP, but the effects on exercise BP are unclear. We hypothesized that acute PSD would augment the BP response to constant load cycling exercise and a 20-min time trial. Twenty-two healthy adults (22 ± 3 yr old; 13 males; V̇o2peak, 43.6 ± 8.2 mL·kg-1·min-1) completed a randomized crossover trial in which they either slept normally (normal sleep-wake schedule for each participant) or sleep was partially deprive
