"I am sick, but that's not all that I am": patient perspectives on psychological adaptation over time to inborn errors of immunity.

Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) are rare heritable disorders of the immune system predisposing to atypical infections, autoimmunity, inflammation, and risk of malignancy. Adaptation is the process of incorporating stressful experiences into one's life; these experiences may include onset of illness, receiving a diagnosis, or suffering without a diagnosis. Poor adaptation is linked to adverse outcomes including psychiatric comorbidities and decreased well-being. Most people with chronic illnesses and rare diseases adapt to their condition with time, but little is known about how this happens. W

A multimodal EEG-based psychological risk representation method using spatiotemporal graph attention and adaptive gated fusion.

OBJECTIVE: As mental health issues gain increasing attention, traditional risk assessment methods based on psychological questionnaires are limited by subjective biases and a narrow dimensionality of information, making them difficult to meet the needs of precision medicine. To address this challenge, this study proposes a cross-modal temporal representation method that integrates spatiotemporal graph attention with an adaptive gating mechanism. METHODS: The method aims to dynamically correct and provide explainable analysis of the health risk labels generated from psychological profiling usi

A Longitudinal Study of the Mediating Role of Romantic Attachment in the Relation Between Child Maltreatment and Psychological Adaptation in Emerging Adults.

Considering the long-term deleterious consequences of child maltreatment, it is crucial to better understand the pathways leading to psychological outcomes in emerging adulthood. This study contributes to the existing knowledge through the examination of the role of romantic attachment as a mechanism explaining the association between child maltreatment and psychological adaptation. Prospective and retrospective data from 605 school-based participants (56.0% women) from the general population involved in a 10-year study were used. Child maltreatment, including sexual, physical, and emotional a

Quality of life, psychological adjustment, and adaptive functioning of patients with intoxication-type inborn errors of metabolism - a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: In recent decades, considerable progress in diagnosis and treatment of patients with intoxication-type inborn errors of metabolism (IT-IEM) such as urea cycle disorders (UCD), organic acidurias (OA), maple syrup urine disease (MSUD), or tyrosinemia type 1 (TYR 1) has resulted in a growing group of long-term survivors. However, IT-IEM still require intense patient and caregiver effort in terms of strict dietetic and pharmacological treatment, and the threat of metabolic crises is always present. Furthermore, crises can affect the central nervous system (CNS), leading to cognitive, b

Latent trajectories of role adaptation in first-time pregnant women and their associations with pregnancy-specific psychological disorders: a longitudinal research protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Pregnancy constitutes a pivotal developmental transition for primigravidas. Although inadequate maternal role adaptation is a recognised predictor of antenatal distress, most existing studies have employed cross-sectional designs or concentrated primarily on the postpartum period. Little is known about the dynamic, longitudinal patterns of role adaptation during pregnancy or how these trajectories shape stage-specific psychological challenges. This study seeks to identify latent heterogeneous trajectories of maternal role adaptation among primigravidas and to evaluate their assoc
