Trends and advances in Leptospira, a bibliometric analysis.

BACKGROUND: Leptospirosis is an acute zoonotic disease caused by pathogenic Leptospira, primarily transmitted to humans through contact with water or soil contaminated by the bacteria. It is globally distributed, with heightened prevalence in tropical regions. While prior studies have examined the pathophysiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of leptospirosis, few have explored trends and emerging topics in the field. This study applies bibliometric analysis to generate a visual knowledge map, identifying research hotspots and forecasting future trends in leptospirosis investigations. METHO

Bibliometric Analysis of Alzheimer's Disease and Depression.

BACKGROUND: The link between Alzheimer's disease and depression has been confirmed by clinical and epidemiological research. Therefore, our study examined the literary landscape and prevalent themes in depression-related research works on Alzheimer's disease through bibliometric analysis. METHODS: Relevant literature was identified from the Web of Science core collection. Bibliometric parameters were extracted, and the major contributors were defined in terms of countries, institutions, authors, and articles using Microsoft Excel 2019 and VOSviewer. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were employed to vi

Bibliometric analysis of antimalarial drug resistance.

BACKGROUND: Malaria has always been a serious infectious disease prevalent in the world. Antimalarial drugs such as chloroquine and artemisinin have been the main compounds used to treat malaria. However, the massive use of this type of drugs accelerates the evolution and spread of malaria parasites, leading to the development of resistance. A large number of related data have been published by researchers in recent years. CiteSpace software has gained popularity among us researchers in recent years, because of its ability to help us obtain the core information we want in a mass of articles. I

Parkinson's Disease Treatment: A Bibliometric Analysis.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder marked by motor symptoms like bradykinesia, tremor, rigidity, and postural instability. Patients also experience non-motor symptoms that greatly affect their quality of life. The global prevalence of PD is increasing, especially among the elderly, necessitating effective treatment strategies. This review provides an overview of the current treatment modalities for PD, including pharmacological and surgical interventions, and employs a bibliometric analysis to evaluate the trends and impact of scientific research in this field

Bibliometric Analysis of Dental Caries Detection.

The main purpose of this bibliometric analysis is to conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the publications on dental caries. Research productivity can be measured with the use of bibliometric analysis. In this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis using the Scopus database to identify dental caries research trends and patterns over the years. The search yielded 1630 scientific articles. The data was analysed using bibliometric indicators such as the h-index, the total number of citations and the number of publications. An analysis of the data highlighted that the United Sta

A Bibliometric Study on Charcot Foot Deformity.

In this study, we investigated the literature's publication trends related to the Charcot foot deformity. Using bibliometric analysis to examine the data of origin, this analysis was carried out by conducting an electronic search of the Web of Science database for research articles between 1970 and March 2023. We used the following search term in the search bar: TI  =  (Charcot foot OR Charcot foot deformity OR Charcot's foot OR Charcot Osteopathic Arthropathy) with English language and article-format filtering for documents. The bibliometric analysis was carried out using R's "Bibliometrix" p

Bibliometric analysis of research on thyroid ultrasonography.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of thyroid diseases has increased, which may be partly related to the widespread use of thyroid ultrasound resulting in a large number of asymptomatic thyroid nodules to be found. Research has found that many thyroid ultrasound examinations are completely avoidable. However, the purpose of the present study was to use bibliometrics to analyze the relevant research literature of thyroid ultrasound and understand the overall status of the current research in this field. METHODS: We searched the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) database in the Web of Science Core

HIV/AIDS in Nigeria: a bibliometric analysis.

BACKGROUND: Nigeria is home to more people living with HIV than any other country in the world, except South Africa and India-where an estimated 2.9 million [1.7 million - 4.2 million] people were living with the virus in 2005. A systematic assessment of recent HIV/AIDS research output from Nigeria is not available. Without objective information about the current deficiencies and strengths in the HIV research output from Nigeria, it is difficult to plan substantial improvements in HIV/AIDS research that could enhance population health. The aim of this study was to analyse the trends in Nigeria

From Mechanical Cues to Lung Injury: Mapping the Global Landscape and Frontiers of Mechanoregulation Through Bibliometrics and LDA Analysis.

Pulmonary cells continuously experience mechanical forces, yet the rapid expansion of mechanotransduction research has fragmented the knowledge base and obscured how research priorities have shifted over time. We therefore mapped the intellectual structure and thematic evolution of pulmonary mechanoregulation using bibliometric analysis and latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA). A total of 1896 articles and reviews published during 2000-2025 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and analysed with CiteSpace and LDA. Annual output increased from fewer than 60 publications per year b

The h-index outperforms other bibliometrics in the assessment of research performance in general surgery: a province-wide study.

BACKGROUND: The h-index is used as an objective measure of research impact. Its validity, however, is not known in the context of general surgery and comparisons with other bibliometric indices are lacking. We sought to evaluate the h-index as a reliable and valid measure of research performance in general surgery across 6 universities in the province of Ontario, Canada. METHODS: Bibliometric indices for 219 faculty members in general surgery were calculated using the Scopus and Web of Science online databases. We investigated agreement between the databases.
