Natural killer (NK) cell subsets in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with alopecia areata (AA) were investigated by FACStar-I using NK cell specific monoclonal antibodies. We analyzed the functional status of the small CD8+/Leu-7+ T-lymphocytes that circulate in increased proportions in the blood of many allogeneic bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients. We report on a 62-year-old woman without Castleman's syndrome diagnosed with chordoid meningioma. A white, encapsulated brain tumor was located in the parietal lobe of the left hemisphere of the cerebrum, adhered to the dura, and was separated from the cerebrum. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether Langerhans cells act as antigen-presenting cells in endometrial carcinomas and their related lesions.
SAMPLES: Frozen endometrial samples were obtained from 13 women with normal menstrual cycles, 3 postmenopausal women, 11 women with hyperplasia (simple 4, complex 4 and atypical 3) and 32 women with endometrial carcinomas.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Langerhans cells (CD1), T lymphocytes (CD4 and CD8), B lymphocytes (CD22), natural killer (NK) cells (CD57) and HLA-DR were all quantitatively assessed in endometrial samples using immunohistochemical method.

Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumors (ECTs) are rare. Only approximately 55 cases have been reported in the English literature. Distinguishing ECTs from soft tissue myoepithelioma (STM) is often difficult owing to morphological and immunohistochemical similarities. Here, we present a case of an ECT arising from the anterior dorsum of the tongue in a 24-year-old woman. Grossly, the tumor was soft, had a myxoid appearance, and measured 8×7×7 mm. Microscopically, it was well-demarcated, lacked a fibrous capsule, and predominantly consisted of short, spindle to ovoid cells in a myxoid background.

A human T-cell line, designated as MKB-1, was established by cloning procedures in a suspension culture from a peripheral blood of a 17-year-old female patient with acute myeloblastic leukemia. It has been reported that patients with "chronic Lyme disease" have a decreased number of natural killer cells, as defined by the CD57 marker. We performed immunophenotyping in 9 individuals with post-Lyme disease syndrome, 12 who recovered from Lyme disease, and 9 healthy volunteers.
