INTRODUCTION: We implemented a standardized Standing Cough Test (SCT) for assessment of men with post-prostatectomy incontinence (PPI) and stratified results according to an objective clinical grading scale in an attempt to facilitate male anti-incontinence surgical procedure selection.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: SCT was routinely performed during the initial outpatient consultation for PPI. Incontinence severity was recorded based on a novel Male Stress Incontinence Grading Scale (MSIGS) to stratify PPI. Each patient was assigned an incontinence grade score of 0 through 4 during the SCT. Men wit

INTRODUCTION: Pad tests have been used to assess urinary incontinence (UI) during exercise, but they do not account for confounding factors such as perspiration. The objectives of this study were to describe pad weight gain among runners with and without running-induced stress UI (RI-SUI), who complete a standardized treadmill-based pad test, and to investigate the sensitivity and specificity of pad weight gain as a measure of urine leakage.
METHODS: This was an observational cohort study. We recruited adult female runners with and without RI-SUI. Participants performed a 38-min treadmill-bas

The efficacy of a new external anti-incontinence device in patients with a videourodynamic diagnosis of genuine stress incontinence (GSI) in an open longitudinal study is reported. Fourteen women with GSI underwent assessment before and after 3-4 weeks of device use. Assessment consisted of visual analog scores (VAS), quality of life (QOL) questionnaires, urine for culture and a 1 hour pad test. VAS scores showed a significant improvement for the symptom of stress incontinence (P<0.05). QOL scores improved significantly by 38% (P<0.05) and 29% (P<0.01) for the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire

OBJECTIVE: Radical prostatectomy is associated with complications including urinary incontinence. A significant association between specific features of the vesicourethral anastomosis and urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy has been demonstrated. The aim of this study was to identify the most useful predictor of postoperative urinary incontinence after robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP) according to the features of the vesicourethral anastomosis as determined by postoperative cystography.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The final study cohort consisted of 150 patient

(1) Background: The adjustable transobturator male system (ATOMS) device serves to treat post-prostatectomy incontinence, as it enhances residual urinary sphincteric function by dorsal compression of the bulbar urethra. We investigated the clinical parameters affecting continence recovery using this device and developed a decision aid to predict success. (2) Methods: We reviewed consecutive men treated with first-time ATOMS for post-prostatectomy incontinence from 2014 to 2021 at our institution. Patient demographics, reported pads per day (PPD), 24-h pad-test and Standing Cough Test (SCT), re
