Exploration of suitable in vitro simulated digestion model for lipid oxidation of flaxseed oil emulsion during digestion.

BACKGROUND: The INFOGEST model is a standardized general in vitro digestion study, but it cannot accurately simulate the fatty acid release process of lipids in the stomach and small intestine. In this study, the internationally universal INFOGEST 2019 was used as the basic model and flaxseed oil emulsion was used as the research object. In various improvement models, the effect of fatty acid release rate on the oxidation stability of flaxseed oil was assessed by adding rabbit stomach extract and changing the order of bile salts addition. RESULTS: With the presence of rabbit gastric extract,

Comparative study of volatile compounds of cold-pressed oils extracted from three different oilseeds after gamma irradiation.

To investigate the effect of gamma irradiation on the volatile compounds of edible oils. Three types of oilseeds, including peanut, sesame, and flaxseed, were subjected to 8 kGy gamma irradiation, followed by cold pressing to extract their oils. The volatile compounds of the oils were isolated by simultaneous distillation extraction and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. A total of 91 volatile compounds were identified, which can be grouped into eight categories: hydrocarbons, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, acids, esters, furans, and benzene derivatives. Modified Method for Double Cannulation of Rat Bile Duct and Intestine for Pharmacokinetic Studies.

An improved method of cannulation of the bile duct and duodenum in rats has been developed to study the kinetics of medicinal compounds in the bile. The proposed double cannulation method ensures reliable fixation and accurate placement of the catheters, prevents their twisting and loss, and allows for a comprehensive study of the processes of substance absorption and elimination. The bile was collected from animals without anesthesia, the circulation of bile acids between the liver and intestine was preserved. This method has been tested in a study of the kinetics of 2,6-diisobornyl-4-methylp

ATR-FT-IR spectroscopy in the region of 500-230 cm(-1) for identification of inorganic red pigments.

It is demonstrated that micro-ATR-FT-IR in the low wave number range (500-230 cm(-1)) can be well used for identification of pigments in paint samples thereby markedly extending the possibilities of pigment identification by ATR-IR spectroscopy into the realm of pigments having no absorptions in the mid-IR region. Reference spectra of pigments can be conveniently obtained by mixing them with linseed oil in approximately 1:1 mass ratio. Vermilion (or cinnabar), read lead, different red iron oxide pigments and cadmium red can be identified. In some cases the method can be used alone for pigment

An alternative solution for α-linolenic acid supplements: in vitro digestive properties of silkworm pupae oil in a pH-stat system.

α-Linolenic acid (ALA) is recognised to have a regulatory effect on cardiovascular diseases. Due to the low bioavailability of linseed oil (LINO), which is the most common ALA supplement, it is necessary to find a replacement for ALA supplements that is more easily accepted by the human body. The content of ALA in silkworm pupae oil (SPO) is 32.60 ± 0.67%, and SPO can be substituted as a dietary lipid to meet the demand of the human body. In the present study, a pH-stat system was used to investigate the release degree of free fatty acids (FFAs) from SPO and construct a first-order kinetic mod

Impact of Phenolic Acid Derivatives on the Oxidative Stability of β-Lactoglobulin-Stabilized Emulsions.

Proteins, such as β-lactoglobulin (β-Lg), are often used to stabilize oil-water-emulsions. By using an additional implementation of phenolic compounds (PC) that might interact with the proteins, the oxidative stability can be further improved. Whether PC have a certain pro-oxidant effect on oxidation processes, while interacting non-covalently (pH-6) or covalently (pH.9) with the interfacial protein-film, is not known. This study aimed to characterize the impact of phenolic acid derivatives (PCDs) on the antioxidant efficacy of the interfacial β-Lg-film, depending on their structural propertie

Microstructure-driven oxidative stability and gut microbiota modulation of flaxseed oil Nano-capsules: A freeze-drying versus vacuum-drying comparative study.

This study compared freeze-drying (FD) and vacuum-drying (VD) for preparing flaxseed oil nano-capsules (FO NC). Structurally, FD formed a porous matrix, while VD caused flattening and aggregation. Although both methods achieved effective encapsulation, FD-FO NC better preserved heat-sensitive components, exhibited lower moisture content (1.39%) and hygroscopicity (1.89%). During 28-day storage, FD-FO NC showed superior stability: controlled reduction in psize (669.03 to 322.28 nm), higher retention of encapsulation efficiency (90.44% to 65.61% in 3 weeks), and lower peroxide values (<0.7 g/100

Effect of flaxseed and flaxseed oil supplemented in caiman diet on meat fatty acids.

Increasing polyunsaturated or long-chain fatty acids in meat for human consumption improves both nutritional quality and consumer perception. The increase could occur through the addition of rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids (such as flaxseed or flaxseed oil) to the animal diet. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary supplement with two presentations of flax (crushed seeds or oil) on the change of FA content in two cuts of caiman meat (tail and neck). We measured fatty profile in two different caiman meat cuts (neck and tail) from 30 animals (total length 96.7 ± 4.9 cm,

Effect of methane inhibitors on the metabolism of rumen microbes in vitro.

In incubations in vitro with rumen fluid, the effect of two methane inhibitors, linseed oil hydrolysate (LOH) and chloral hydrate (CH) on the efficiency of microbiol growth was investigated. Total and net microbial growth were determined from 32PO43- and NH3--N incorporation respectively and expressed as g N incorporated per kg organic matter fermented (gN/kgOMf). In a first series on incubations, it was found that LOH had no influence on overall microbial growth efficiency, while with CH, a small but significant decrease of total and net growth efficiency was measured. Further experiments sho

Oil phase-driven nanoemulsions improve CoQ10 stability, in vitro bioaccessibility and ex vivo intestinal uptake.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) exhibits important bioactive and health-promoting functions, yet its poor water solubility and low bioaccessibility restrict its wider application in food and nutraceutical formulations. In this study, CoQ10-loaded nanoemulsions were fabricated using high-pressure homogenization with three edible oil phases (sunflowerseed oil, flaxseed oil, and soybean oil) to elucidate how oil phase composition governs physicochemical behavior, digestive fate, and absorption. All nanoemulsions showed high encapsulation efficiency (98.2%, 97.8%, and 98.0%), while flaxseed oil produced the

[Case report: tympany and diarrhea in calves].

Diarrhoea and meteorism was observed in calves, that were fed on hay, linseed and milk replacer. Different factors were found in the feedstuffs, which could have caused these symptoms. The feeding value of the hay was not high enough due to intense lignification, while the milk replacer showed a slightly impaired hygienic quality. The linseed contained cyanogenic glycosides in higher concentrations (226 mg HCN/kg).

Dietary n-6:n-3 fatty acid ratio in the perinatal period affects bone parameters in adult female rats.

PUFA and their metabolites are important regulators of bone formation and resorption. The effect of PUFA on bone growth may be especially striking during the perinatal period. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of diets with different n-6:n-3 fatty acid (FA) ratios during the perinatal period on bone parameters in the adult offspring. During late gestation and throughout lactation, rat dams were fed an isoenergetic diet containing 70 g linseed oil (n-3 diet), soyabean oil (n-6+n-3 diet) or sunflower-seed oil (n-6 diet) per kg with n-6:n-3 FA ratios of 0.4, 9 and 216, re
