A case of mediastinal neurilemmoma originating from the left intrathoracic vagal nerve was reported. A 42-year-old female was admitted to our hospital because of evaluation of an abnormal shadow on chest X-ray. Both CT and MRI showed that the tumor was located in middle mediastinum between the aortic arch and the left pulmonary artery, and the diagnosis was suspected to be neurilemmoma originating from the intrathoracic vagal nerve. Left standard thoracotomy was performed and the tumor was resected by amputating the vagal trunk. Pathological diagnosis was benign Antoni A and B type neurilemmom

Retroperitoneal neurilemmomas are rare tumors. They are usually asymptomatic, and often become quite large before they are discovered. A case is reported of a 75-year-old man with complaints of general malaise and left lumbar pain. Intravenous pyelography showed left renal nonfunctional and retrograde pyelography revealed the stenosis of the left ureter. The ultrasonogram demonstrated a cystic mass, and it was diagnosed as a retroperitoneal tumor with central necrosis by computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The tumor was removed with the left nonfunctioning kidney and ureter

BACKGROUND: Laryngeal neurilemmoma, especially recurrent laryngeal neurilemmoma, is a rare neural sheath tumor in head and neck. The most common symptom of laryngeal neurilemmoma is hoarseness or dysphonia, followed by dysphagia, dyspnea, and foreign body sensation. At present, surgical resection is the most effective treatment for this kind of tumor, thus making how to remove it become the most concerned problem of surgeons.
CASE PRESENTATION: On February 18, 2021, a 64-year-old male presented to our clinic with recurrent sore throat and intermittent hoarseness for 3 years. The results of el

BACKGROUND: Tracheal tumors are relatively rare in adults and uncommon in children. Tracheal neurilemmoma is a rare condition in adults that usually affects middle-aged people, but it can also occur in children. Because the clinical presentation is nonspecific and insidious, diagnosis is often delayed. The most common symptoms in these patients are stridor or wheezing (especially positional) and cough. A few patients are misdiagnosed and mistakenly treated for asthma.
CASE SUMMARY: A 10-year-old girl was admitted to our unit with a 2-mo history of recurrent cough, dyspnea, and tachypnea. Her

We report a case of neurilemmoma of deep peroneal nerve sensory branch that triggered sensory change with compression test on lower extremity. After resection of tumor, there are evoked thermal changes on pre- and post-operative infrared (IR) thermographic images. A 52-year-old female presented with low back pain, sciatica, and sensory change on the dorsal side of the right foot and big toe that has lasted for 9 months. She also presented with right tibial mass sized 1.2 cm by 1.4 cm. Ultrasonographic imaging revealed a peripheral nerve sheath tumor arising from the peroneal nerve. IR thermogr

A classic neurilemmoma was found in the eye of a 31-year-old man with known neurofibromatosis. The pathologic features of this rare intraocular tumor were examined histologically, immunohistochemically, and ultrastructurally. Contiguity of the neurilemmoma with its nerve of origin, the long posterior ciliary nerve, was clearly demonstrated. Expansion of the nerve by proliferating Schwann's cells was present.

A 18-year-old man was referred to our hospital complaining of chest abnormal shadow of the left upper lung field in mass screening chest X-ray. Although his left anterior chest wall swelled, he did not recognize that. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a dumbbell shaped tumor of the left 1st intercostal space which had grown both inside and outside the thoracic cavity. As a possibility of solitary fibrous tumor or myxoma was not excluded, the patient underwent tumor resection. A solid tumor connected to the 1st intercostal nerve was easily dissected from surroundin

Neurilemmomas of the tongue have only been sporadically reported in the literature. Vague symptoms and limited knowledge of this kind of tumor may result in long delays before diagnosis and treatment. The rarity of the lesion in this area is the main reason why we report this case of neurilemmoma. After observation of a mass in the tongue, magnetic resonance imaging showed a large tumor with central necrosis localized to the base of the tongue. Needle electromyography disclosed no nerve lesion. Fine-needle aspiration cytology was negative, whereas biopsy revealed a neurilemmoma. The tumor was

A case of solitary benign neurilemmoma (schwannoma) arising in the submandibular region is presented. The tumor was mistaken clinically for an enlarged submandibular salivary gland. Fine needle aspiration cytology made an erroneous diagnosis of a pleomorphic adenoma, predominantly stromal in composition. Histology of the resection specimen resulted in the correct diagnosis of a benign schwannoma. Review of the needle aspirate demonstrated cytologic features that should enable both the correct diagnosis of this neoplasm and its distinction from pleomorphic adenoma, which it mimicked in this loc

Multiple primary neoplasms are not common, those containing renal neurilemoma are even more rare. Our study involves the diagnosis and treatment of a female patient with multiple primary neoplasms with renal neurilemoma. She was previously diagnosed with left ovarian dermoid cyst, right posterior mediastinal neurilemmoma, left forearm neurilemmoma, and papillary thyroid carcinoma, underwent operation treatment. Physical examination reveals a left renal mass with a left adrenal tumor a month before, and underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic left adrenal nodule resection and left partial nephre

The case of a 43-year-old man with a right skull base hypoglossal neurilemmoma excised via the extended posterolateral approach is presented. There is only one previous case of hypoglossal neurilemmoma in the literature. The surgical technique described is a new approach to the posterior skull base involving a suboccipital craniectomy, mastoidectomy and the removal of the lateral process of the atlas. It provides an inferior approach to the jugular foramen and hypoglossal canal that allows the lower cranial nerves to be identified as they exit from their skull base foramina. In the discussion

Jugular foramen neurilemmoma is frequently manifested as a jugular foramen syndrome or extraaxial mass. Neurilemmoma arising from the cranial nerves of the foramen, although rare, may be manifestated as an intracranial or extracranial mass lesion. When the tumor is located only in the intracranium, it is often misdiagnosed as an acoustic neurinoma or a brainstem tumor because of their similarity in clinical or radiological findings. We present a rare case of jugular foramen neurilemmoma with only intracranial extension with clinical and radiologic features of an intra-axial brainstem tumor.

A case of subserosal gastric neurilemmoma is hereby presented. This reported case is unique in its clinical presentation including the appearance of acute abdomen and fever subsequent to unremarkable and uneventful upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The tendency of neurilemmoma to cause mucosal ulceration with fistula formation probably led to this clinical presentation. The role of computed tomography in establishing diagnosis of exogastric tumor is emphasized.

Human pulmonary dirofilariasis (HPD) is a rare zoonotic infection caused by Dirofilaria immitis. Dogs are the definite hosts and humans are infected occasionally via a vector, generally a mosquito. Most thoracic neurilemmoma arise in the mediastinum and fewer tumors originate peripherally from the intercostal nerves. Most patients with HPD or thoracic neurilemmoma are asymptomatic and these diseases are often discovered incidentally. We present a 53-year-old female who was found to have a pulmonary nodule and a chest wall nodule during a routine health examination. She underwent a video-assist

RATIONALE: Neurilemmoma is a benign tumor derived from the Schwann cells of the nerve sheath. The highest incidence of neurilemmoma occurs in the head and neck region; however, the nose and paranasal sinuses are rarely involved. Less than 4% of these tumors involve the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. To date, only six cases of nasal vestibule neurilemmoma have been reported.
PATIENT CONCERNS: Two patients (a 32-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman) visited our clinic with complaint of a lump in the left nasal vestibule.
DIAGNOSIS: Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical sta
