Using computed tomography, photogrammetry & structured light scanning for measuring human mandibles: a comparison of metric analysis using various 3D imaging technologies.

This paper aims to determine if photogrammetry and/or structured light scanning (SLS) can be used as alternatives for conducting metric assessments on mandibles as opposed to computed tomography (CT). Identifying alternative imaging options to CT is important as, although CT is accurate and reliable, there are multiple limitations that impact its accessibility, including cost, portability, and ease of learning. Photogrammetry and SLS are two handheld, lightweight, cost-effective alternatives that are relatively user friendly. Therefore, this paper imaged 33 human mandibles using CT, photogramm

Risks and advantages of using surface laser photogrammetry on free-ranging marine organisms: a case study on white sharks Carcharodon carcharias.

This study employed a non-lethal measurement tool, which combined an existing photo-identification technique with a surface, parallel laser photogrammetry technique, to accurately estimate the size of free-ranging white sharks Carcharodon carcharias. Findings confirmed the hypothesis that surface laser photogrammetry is more accurate than crew-based estimations that utilized a shark cage of known size as a reference tool. Furthermore, field implementation also revealed that the photographer's angle of reference and the shark's body curvature could greatly influence technique accuracy, exposing

Forensic application of inverse and reverse projection photogrammetry to determine subject location and orientation when both camera and subject move relative to the scene.

We present a case study of a mountain bicycle accident captured by the rider's chest-mounted action camera. The objective of the investigation was to determine the orientation of the bicycle relative to the ground and the location of the rider's center of gravity relative to the bicycle. The problem faced in the investigation was that the camera was moving relative to the scene and rider, and the bicycle was moving relative to the camera. Inverse photogrammetry was used to determine the location and orientation of the camera relative to the scene. Reverse projection photogrammetry applied to a

Immediate full-arch rehabilitation of edentulous jaws on 4 or 6 implants using a photogrammetry system: A retrospective study up to 2 years of follow-up.

Accurately recording the deficiency of the three-dimensional position of dental implants and the predetermined occlusal relationship of edentulous jaws presents a significant challenge. This study aimed to achieve a truly digital workflow of immediate full-arch implant restoration by combinedcone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), photogrammetry (PG) devices, and intraoral scanners (IOS). This approach significantly reduces patient tooth loss time, minimizes the overall "chair time", and provides precise, comfortable, and efficient implant restoration treatment. A total of 11 edentulous patients
